If Fox News ever enters the original movie game, I’ve got the perfect premise for its first film: Sarah Palin and Free Speech: A Love Story.
The former Alaska governor just can’t stop bringing up her favorite constitutional amendment — especially when complaining about all the folks using their right to free speech to criticize conservatives for exercising their right to free speech. Or something. (She uses “free speech” and “First Amendment rights” pretty interchangeably, so I’m going to as well. That’s my right as an American.)
Take yesterday, for example, when she wrote a blistering defense...

Whether Randy Rainbow is flirting on the phone with his new boyfriend Mel Gibson or taking advice from the uber-professional Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the New York-based YouTube star is routinely hilarious, cheeky, and provocative. On the heels of his newest clip, an instant classic about the idiocy of Chik-fil-a, we caught up with Mr. Rainbow (yep, that's his real name) to discuss what makes him laugh, where his ideas come from, and the Broadway obsession that fuels his web series "Chewing the Scenery."
AfterElton: Tell me the origin story of your "phone call" videos, like the Mel Gibson and Dr. Laura clips. Where did the idea come from?
Randy Rainbow: Well, it all started with Mel Gibson, as most things do. I'd been doing a written blog for a while and was ready to start incorporating some of my performance skills. I'd done a couple of sketch videos prior and...

Quite a few people (including, full disclosure, this writer) have taken umbrage with Dr. Laura Schlessinger's recent media blitz in which she decries the outcry over her little "Saying the N-Word 11 Times While Screaming at a Black Caller on Her Radio Show" incident. Add to that group Anderson Cooper. In addition to being annoyed that Dr. Laura's attempting to "play the victim card," Cooper was especially angry that the woman's decided to drag CNN's name into the mess.

Among her talents, Dr. Laura Schlessinger has the unique gift of inartfulness. It’s a word she herself used during this morning’s Today interview with Matt Lauer to describe the infamous use of the racially charged n-word on her radio show that led to her move to Sirius Xm. Schlessinger discusses the incident in her new book, Surviving a Shark Attack (on Land), explaining that left-wing hysterics hijacked the narrative of that incident, and she told Lauer that her actual “point was well made, but it was inartfully made.”
I was inclined to actually agree with her to a certain extent.

Now there's going to be two big mouths over at Sirius Xm. Dr. Laura Schlessinger joins nemesis Howard Stern on the satellite radio network, landing a new syndicated show of her own set to launch in January. It's a quick rebound following her N-bomb dropping rant this summer that earned her a racist tag and prompted her announcement that she was leaving broadcasting. Alas, she's not going quietly. So what does she plan on yakking about on her new gig? Dr. Laura, who will end her current radio show on Dec. 31, was wooed by Sirius Xm following the August incident. She will transition to satellite on Jan. 3, with a three-hour weekday show at 2 p.m. "The first and most important...

Talk show host Laura Schlessinger has signed a multi-year deal with Sirius Xm Radio, the Associated Press reports.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Schlessinger's syndicated advice program, Dr. Laura, will end on traditional radio Dec. 31. She begins at Sirius the following Monday.
Schlessinger found herself in hot water when she used the N-word on her show while speaking to a black female caller. Days after the controversy, she said she would quit her program.

Q: Hey Arnold, the popular 1990s TV show on Nickelodeon, is known for subtly touching on issues which most, if not all, other children's shows wouldn't touch. For example, one of the character's moms was obviously an alcoholic, and the kids' fourth-grade teacher was gay (this was confirmed by the guy who made the show, Craig Bartlett). Are there any other children's shows with gay characters, whose gayness has been officially confirmed? -- Selina, Suny Oneonta
A: You’re right that creator Craig Barlett did confirm, after-the-fact, that Robert Simmons, Arnold’s second fourth grade teacher (voiced by Frasier’s Dan Butler, an out actor), was gay.

Well, this particular controversy just might never end. Once again, we return to the issue of Dr. Laura Schlessinger, and her use of the "N-word." But now, we're adding Sarah Palin to the mix.
In case you have forgotten or haven't been paying attention: Dr. Laura used the "N-word" 11 times in a row while on her radio program. After the firestorm of controversy that resulted from this, Dr. Laura quit her show. Next, Sarah Palin instantly jumped to Laura's defense, claiming that Schlessinger's First Amendment rights were violated. Specifically, Palin said that Laura had lost her right to freedom of speech. ... Now, on 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11Pm Et on Comedy Central), Jon Stewart and his correspondents jump into attack mode -- and call Sarah Palin a hypocrite.

Discussing racism, Laura Schlessinger said the N-word over and over during a call last week, setting off a firestorm of criticism. Come December, she'll end her long-running "The Dr. Laura Program." She spoke to THR about threats to her and her employees, as well as one of the groups that have assailed her .
The Hollywood Reporter: What do you think of Media Matters, which really got the ball rolling against you this time?
Schlessinger: An organization whose existence depends on the principle of eliminating opposing opinions is very dangerous.
THR Did you hand them a victory by quitting?
Schlessinger: I didn't quit because of this, per se. It's a victory for nobody when a voice is silenced. But I have a million and a half other venues. I decided that I wanted to be able to express myself in a situation where I didn't have sponsors and affiliates and employees threatened.

This week she said, come December, she'd end her long-running radio show, "The Dr. Laura Program." She spoke to THR about the controversy and anything else that came up.
The Hollywood Reporter: Are your sponsors and affiliates under constant attack, or only when controversy erupts?
Laura Schlessinger: Only when things erupt. Otherwise, we're all happy campers. I do good shows, I help people, and the sponsors get what they pay for.
THR: What's your opinion of the sponsors who cave into the pressure?
Schlessinger: Sponsors are companies and companies are made of people. I totally understand. I don't get mad. They're supporting their families. That's the problem -- situations where companies, sponsors, affiliates are injured by special-interest groups that don't want to debate an issue,...

Dr. Laura Schlessinger is under fire for using the N-word on her radio show to make a point...about the N-word. ABC News reports that Dr. Laura claimed that premium cabler HBO and all the comics they air in programming use it, and it is mainstream and acceptable to many. "It's unacceptable," said Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League to ABC. "There's no way that it's acceptable. It's not funny, it's offensive to African-Americans. She should know better. There should be consequences." Schlessinger's troubles began when she had a debate on Tuesday with a black female caller. ABC reports the caller was asking about her white husband's friends and their use of the N-word. From ABC:...

Dr Laura Schlessinger used n word 11 times on show & apologized. According to the Huffington Post, Dr. Laura Schlessinger apparently used the n-word a total of 11 times over the course of five minutes on her radio show the other day. They say a black female called in,complaining about her white husband's racist friends and their use of the n-word. Then Laura said black guys use it all the time. She stated, "Black guys use it all the time. Turn on HBO and listen to a black comic, and all you hear is n-word, n-word, n-word. I don't get it. If anybody without enough melanin says it, it's a horrible thing. But when black people say it, it's affectionate. It's very confusing." After the break, the caller was appalled by Laura's use of the word.

"Dr. Laura is still around?," you ask. Yes no worries, that's what we said at Zap2it too.
Talk show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger has posted an apology on her website after a conversation on Tuesday (Aug. 10) with a caller named Jade during which she said in the N-word several times.
"I articulated the N-word all the way out--more than one time," Schlessinger admits. "And that was wrong. I'll say it again--that was wrong."
You see, Schlessinger was only trying to make a philosophical point. It just didn't come out right. Or something. She's not sure what went wrong.
"I ended up, I'm sure, with many of you losing the point I was trying to make, because you were shocked by the fact that I said the word. I, myself, realized I had made a horrible mistake, and was so upset I could not finish the show. I pulled myself...
