From MTV.Com: It's no secret that many rappers are huge comic-book fans: For example, Ghost Rider and Iron Man are aliases of comic-book characters Johnny Blaze and Tony Stark respectively, but they're also aliases of Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man and Ghostface as well. Meth adopted Johnny Blaze out of his love for the badass with a flaming skull, mystical chain and penchant for vengeance, and Ghostface actually named his first album Ironman, and appeared in the first "Iron Man" movie.
That's why Shady Records exec Riggs Morales jumped at the idea to become an associate producer for the "Marvelous Color" exhibit in New York, which runs through February 26 of next year. The exhibit, which is curated by Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez, highlights the six major black characters in the Marvel Comics Universe: Storm, Black Panther, Blade, the Falcon and War Machine. Summit Entertainment, the studio that "Twilight" built, will release the Nicolas Cage revenge movie "Drive Angry" on February 11, 2011. "Angry," which is now in pre-production, centers on a man (Cage) driven by rage who is chasing the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The vendetta/rescue spins out of control, as the chase gets bloodier by the mile, leaving bodies strewn along the highway.The project, which will be in 3-D, is being directed by Patrick Lussier ("My Bloody Valentine") from a screenplay penned by Lussier and Todd Farmer. I think his track record proves that you have to be veeerrry careful how you use Cage. Obviously, the quirkier the role, the better. He just doesn't belong in standard leading man roles. Can You Picture Robert Pattinson as Magneto?

Actually, I can picture this. I may not be a fan of 'The Twilight Saga', but the idea of Robert Pattinson playing a young Magneto in the long simmering 'X-Men Origins: Magneto' project makes perfect sense to me.
It seems to make sense to Pattison, too. According to the Coventry Telegraph, the young heartthrob recently responded to a question about whether or not he'd like to play any comic book characters on the big screen, saying: "Well, yeah, I think everyone wonders about that sometimes. My little cousin tells me I look like Magneto so I guess that's who I should probably play."
Action heroes (and villains) appear to be the big draw right now for the 'Twilight' alums. Taylor Lautner has signed on to play the superhuman Max Steel, while Kellan Lutz wants to play the lead role in The First Avenger: Captain America.

What did you expect from Jerry Bruckheimer? His trailer for the modern update of Disney's "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is full of explosions and action. It goes with the Bruckheimer territory.
Nicolas Cage stars as the aforementioned sorcerer, who names young Dave (Jay Baruchel) his apprentice in modern-day New York City. Lots of explosions and one pretty wicked car chase ensue, no doubt due to evil, evil Alfred Molina.
The original -- sans car chases -- was a part of Disney's 1940 film "Fantasia": A sorcerer's apprentice, Mickey Mouse, gets lazy and brings a broom to life to do the daily chores. That doesn't work as planned, so Mickey brings more brooms to life, which cause more trouble, and so on.
Watch the first "Sorcerer's Apprentice" trailer, and watch for an homage to the 1940 broom sequence:

The Twitter feed for Production Weekly has become a hot bed of mini movie updates over the past year and most often times I ignore it quite simply because taking the time to turn a 140 character or less production note into a full post is a waste of time, but last night an interesting detail was announced that can be expanded upon.
The update said James Cameron is developing a Shane Salerno-scripted sci-fi action script for Fox, described as an "event" film set in the future. This, of course, has people scratching their heads wondering what it could be. Well, the only way to figure that out is to see what Shane Salerno has been up to, which leads us to this year-old story.

Production Weekly is reporting that "James Cameron is developing a Shane Salerno-scripted sci-fi action script for Fox, described as an 'event' film set in the future." No other details are available, but most people think the project might be Doomsday Protocol, a film which was announced last year. James Cameron wasn't mentioned in the initial The Hollywood Reporter announcement, which included the following plot details: "Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it is known to be an epic science fiction adventure in the vein of The Seven Samurai involving a group of aliens and humans with various abilities who are brought together to save Earth." Writer/director David "Blade" Goyer is drafting a screenplay for Marvel's "Ghost Rider 2", following the 2007 feature's worldwide box office take of $228,738,393.
Actor Nic Cage will return in a 'darker' interpretation of flaming skull-head 'Johnny Blaze', a former stunt motorcyclist who morphs into a demon vigilante, in a 'darker' interpretation of the character.
Goyer said the new film will not be a 'reboot', but a serious sequel, picking up eight years after the first film, in an "existential place."
In the original film, Cage rode a Buell motorcycle for Blaze's stunt cycle and a heavily customized hardtail chopper named 'Grace' that transformed into the 'Hell Cycle'.
"Ghost Rider" debuted in Marvel Comics "Marvel Spotlight" #5 (Aug. 1972), created by editor Roy Thomas, writer Gary Friedrich and artist Mike Ploog.

An upcoming biopic spotlighting iconic comic book writer Grant Morrison has generated a lot of buzz lately, and today we have our first trailer for the documentary about one of the industry's most interesting creative minds.
Titled "Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods," the film is directed by Patrick Meaney, who's been chronicling the "We3" and "The Invisibles" writer's life for quite a while now, and interviewing various personalities in and around the comics scene. Among the many notable comic creators that appear in the trailer are Jason Aaron ("Ghost Rider"), Matt Fraction ("Invincible Iron Man"), Geoff Johns ("Blackest Night"), and Mark Waid ("The Flash," "Incorruptible").

Ghost Rider is one of those odd movies that was surprisingly successful but seems to have very little staying power. I don.t think I know a single person who actually saw the flick and if they did, I.m almost certain they don.t remember much of it. How is it possible that I can be Nicolas Cage, most mumblingly, intensely earnest actor of a generation, yet the IRS should be forcing sales of my property? This is the question I asked my son, Kal-El (it's Superman's birth name).
For years, I have opted against taking lower-paying roles in order to star in the most artless action blockbusters. I was in Gone In 60 Seconds. Hell, I was in Ghost Rider. My answerphone message says, "I'll do it." How is it possible that I have no cash?
