Matthew McConaughey Eyes Hulk Role

15 September 2008 9:20 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Having been rumored to line up for Captain America part in "The First Avenger: Captain America" earlier, Hollywood hunk Matthew McConaughey recently let out that he prefers to portray Hulk if he is given the choice. Revealing the matter to MTV News, he said, "My favorite one growing up has already been done twice and that was The Incredible Hulk."

Apart from talking about which superhero he is inclined to tackle, the two-time co-star of actress Kate Hudson in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and "Fool's Gold" indicated that he has no idea of him being speculated as potential Captain America depicter. Said to be surprised by the rumor, he further added that he was not a big comic book reader, but added that Captain America is "a super cool name".

McConaughey's latest project is "Surfer, Dude". The S.R. Bindler's comedy tells the story about free-spirited

Andy Tennant is Chasing Harry Winston

14 September 2008 1:32 PM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

Whether you like it or not, the success of Sex and the City has breathed new life into the so-called 'chick flick' landscape (heck, it even gave The Women another shot at the multiplex). So get ready for more 'Ya-Ya Sisterhood' on the big screen, because Hollywood is finally starting to figure out that women like to go to the movies. Next up, according to Variety, is Lauren Weisberger's novel Chasing Harry Winston for Universal and Mandalay Pictures. You might recognize Weisberger as the author of the best-selling novel, The Devil Wears Prada, and Winston is her latest book to spend some time on the NYT's best-seller list.

Winston "revolves around three young women who each vow to change their entire lives for the better in the course of the next year" -- and you can probably guess how each of them is going to 'change' their lives. One

'My Life in Ruins' Sets May Release Date, Opposite 'Star Trek'

20 August 2008 6:32 PM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

Filed under: Comedy, Drama, Romance, Box Office, Distribution, Newsstand

Cinematical has just been informed that Nia Vardalos' My Life in Ruins has scheduled a May 8, 2009 release date, which, so far, puts it opposite Star Trek as the weekend's only other wide release. And yes, we're told it will be a wide release, and that a brand, spanky new trailer will arrive soon (pay no attention to the one leaked online earlier in the month). Produced by Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Ruins stars Nia Vardalos as she returns to her Greek roots (and to the country itself) as a tour guide who discovers her romantic side while showing a ragtag group of tourists around. Directed by Donald Petrie (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days), Richard Dreyfuss and Rachel Dratch also star.

Fox Searchlight must have a good feeling about this flick if they're throwing it out right

Donald Petrie to direct ‘Fashionistas’

30 July 2008 9:02 AM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Donald Petrie is set to produce and helm “Fashionistas,” a romantic comedy based on the popular novel by Lynn Messina, according to Variety.

The plot of the book centers on a young woman who works at a Fashionista magazine and joins some of her colleagues in an attempt to take down her ruthless editor-in-chief.

Production on the film will begin later this year. Danny Fischer and Paula Chorley are penning the script. The project was originally in development at Paramount, but it will now be financed independently.

Petrie’s directing credits include “Miss Congeniality” and “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” He most recently completed “My Life in Ruins,” a comedy starring Nia Vardalos.

I’ve never read Messina’s book before and can’t comment on the plot, but could this be the new “The Devil Wears Prada”? Feel free to share your thoughts on this below.
