This was a fairly interesting biography of Leroy (his real first name) "Robert" Ripley, the famous cartoonist who brought the world amazing facts and made himself famous (and a multi-millionaire) for that endeavor.
It's interesting to note that in the end, despite the fame and fortune, he admits he had a "spirtual void" he was trying to fill. He's another great example of man who had everything materially but not inner peace. He had several mansions, yachts, tons of valuable artifacts and treasures. He had all the beautiful women he could handle. He loved the limelight but hated public speaking. His opulent lifestyle led to a heart attack and a premature death at the age of 55. This documentary, made from the secular point of few, of course, doesn't see the obvious sermon in here. It only laments his "misfortune."
Some of Ripley's odd collection of artifacts and just plain facts are so-so while some are fascinating. Some are downright disgusting like the guy who drove nails in his nose. Some of this documentary is a "freak show" with people who appear as if they were made of rubber, or a mean who can turn his head 180 degrees. Another makes himself look like a skeleton with his stomach caved in.....and more freakish sights.
This video has two "live" actors, one playing Ripley "back from the dead" explaining his life to an interested teenager. In between are old newsreels of Ripley and some of his amazing people and artifacts he found and collected. Most of it was interesting, as were his mansions, women and lifestyle.
