The French film (but English-language) Intimacy, which touched off controversy at the Berlin Film Festival last week because of its lengthy sex scenes, has won the festival's top award, the Golden Bear, and Kerry Fox, the film's female star, has received the award for best actress. Benicio Del Toro won the best actor award for his performance in Traffic. Lin Cheng-Sheng was named best director for the Taiwanese drama Betelnut Beauty. Two runner-up Silver Bear trophies were awarded to the Danish film Italian for Beginners and China's Beijing Bicycle.
