Trivia:

The autobiography of which the film is based on was originally published under the name Through the Valley of the Kwai (and later as Miracle on the River Kwai) and then when this film was made, the same as this film's title (To End All Wars). This book also acted as a basis for David Lean's The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957).

Goofs:

Factual errors: Lt. Jim Reardon or "Yanker" as he is referred to in the film, would not have been in a wheelchair in the camp. The truth is, his back was too severely broken for him to be transported anywhere. He spent the rest of the time in camp bed-ridden. He appeared in a wheelchair in the film simply for camera flow.

Powerful, engaging, thought provoking look at true freedom.

I found the movie a refreshing change from the normal "war is hell" or "violence is exciting" approach. It was brutally honest about the realities of war and the pain we inflict and the healing we can bring to one another, regardless of where we are. It's an unflinching look at the ugliness we are ALL capable of, as well as the incredible capacity for good that lies within each of us as well.

The emotions were real, increasing the impact of the central message of forgiveness as the key to inner freedom, dignity and hope. We ALL need to hear and live that, and to see fellow human beings live it in front of our eyes in such desperate conditions speaks to the possibility we all have to choose it as well. I found it a truly inspirational, life changing film and hope it receives wide coverage around the world. It could change the way we live as individuals and as nations.
