Steven Seagal has been a cop for 20 years?!?

10 September 2009 11:29 AM, PDT | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

The world has officially been turned upside down for me.

Apparently when he's not making bad-ass movies like Under Siege, Exit Wounds, or my personal favorite, Today You Die, Steven Seagal is a Deputy Sheriff in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana and he's been doing it for 20 years.

Can it get better? Yes. Starting in December, A&E is sending cameras along with him.

‘Torchwood’ blogging: “Exit Wounds”

17 May 2009 12:19 PM, PDT | www.flickfilosopher.com | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

Oh, so mean! The last episode looked like it was gonna be the disastrous one, what with everyone getting blown up and reminiscing about their tenures with Torchwood and all. And then, when everyone was safe and no one died, it was like, Whew! We dodged that bullet. But no! Disaster was merely delayed to this episode. Killing off two major characters in one swoop? Yikes. That’s not only heartbreaking from the perspective of the story -- Tosh and Owen finally connecting just as they’re both about to die! -- but pretty darn daring for a popular show to do. I admire that, though: I wish more shows weren’t content to just keep shoveling out the same old stories over and over again and shook themselves up like this once in a while. It’s the only way to stay fresh. (It’s too bad on Burn Gorman and Naoko Mori, »

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li Review

2 March 2009 10:27 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

If you’re expecting Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li to be bad, you haven’t set your expectations low enough.  I’d rather take a roundhouse kick to the face than watch this movie again.  There’s nothing legendary about The Legend of Chun-Li, it’s just a laughably awful waste of time invoking the name of a beloved video game series.

When you play the game in the arcade, you pump quarters in to continue.  When I was watching this movie, I wished I could put money in to make it stop.  In the scoreless genre of video game adaptations, this movie is among the worst of the worst.  Director Andrzej Bartkowiak seems to be carving a niche for himself in the world of bottom-feeding action after this, another good game ruined by Doom, and the unquestionably bad Exit Wounds starring Dmx.  Even repeat video game offender Uwe Boll could have done better. »

'Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li' misses the mark by a mile

2 March 2009 11:36 AM, PST | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

There is really no point in sugar-coating it. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is truly awful. Witnessing an experiment that combines a laughable script with hilarious acting can be a deadly formula for any moviegoer. The results are what any reasonable person would expect: pure, unadulterated awfulness.

You've been warned.

Based on the hit video game series from the '90s, which has nothing to do with the Jean-Claude Van Damme go-around from 1994, this retread from director Polish director Andrzej Bartkowiak (Exit Wounds) stars...Read More

Movie Review - 'Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li'

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun- Li

Starring Kristin Kreuk, Neal McDonough, and Chris Klein

Directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak

Rated PG-13

Back in the early 1990s, there was a video game called Street Fighter. It was one of the first arcade games that let you choose the character you wanted to play, and each fighter in the game had different strengths and weaknesses.

Each combatant had different moves, too, which meant that as a player, you'd have invest probably hundreds of dollars mastering the specific configuration of buttons, joystick directions and timing crucial to making those moves work.

Street Fighter was therefore an enormous success. Some players wanted to play the beasts with superhuman strength, and others wanted to go the more traditional, charismatic martial arts hero route. You could play villains, too. The game was so popular that it spawned a movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, which was nowhere near as popular. »

Call me crazy, but I'm actually looking forward to this - even more than Dragonball! Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li hits theaters in two more weeks, in case you forgot, and promises to be at least entertaining, right? We'll find out in a couple of weeks if that's the case. Right now I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Although I'm very curious why we haven't seen another trailer or any new footage from this yet. And now Fox releases their final batch of photos? Now I'm officially nervous, which I have been all along, but this could just suck completely and I don't want it to! Check out the photos. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is directed by ex-cinematographer Andrzej Bartkowiak, who directed Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave, and Doom previously. Check This Out: Another, Better Street Fighter Movie Poster

21 January 2009 8:22 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

We were just sent a brand new poster for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li - and considering the last two posters they've revealed have been pretty bad, I think most people will be quite happy to see this one. Maybe? Besides the face of Kristin Kreuk, this also features some sort of Phantom of the Opera looking guy combined with Wolverine. I know it's the character of Vega, but still, it seems like they're trying to steal some of the X-Men Origins: Wolverine hype. I doubt this poster will have any impact on the buzz, but it's still cool to see something a bit better. Speaking of which, is anyone even going to see this? Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is directed by ex-cinematographer Andrzej Bartkowiak, who directed Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave, and Doom previously. Black Dynamite Picked Up By Sony

20 January 2009 12:29 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Bucking this year's Sundance trend of big studios with teeny wallets, Sony have picked up comedy Black Dynamite for $2m, two days after snapping up Brooklyn's Finest.Riffing off '70s Blaxploitation thrillers, Black Dynamite ("60,000 volts of black power") stars Michael Jai White as a ghetto hero going toe-to-toe with 'The Man' who is pumping heroin into local orphanages.White is a martial artist best known for getting seriously Eastern on Steven Seagal in Exit Wounds and van Damme in Universal Soldier: The Return, so expect nunchucking, badass kung-fu action to go with all the 'fro's and slap-bass.Sony has franchise in mind, and judging by the trailer - 2 parts awesome to 1 part deeply silly - they could be onto a winner.   »
