Clooney Worries About Interviews

14 hours ago | WENN | See recent WENN news »

George Clooney avoids conducting one-on-one interviews when promoting a film - because journalists constantly ask him about his personal life instead of his movie projects.

The Ocean's Eleven actor admits he has become increasingly media-shy and now prefers to speak only at press conferences to keep reporters from interrogating him about his love life in sit-down chats.

And the 48 year old worries that his restraint forces editors to turn to the tabloids to source information about him.

He tells Britain's Empire magazine, "I've found that doing interviews for films doesn't end up answering any questions about the films, and it doesn't really help the films. Usually I end up answering some dumba** question from some dumba** from the Netherlands. I don't mind the stories in gossip magazines, but I worry when they bleed into legitimate interviews, and that's been happening a lot recently." …

Secret Identity: Five Actors Who Could Play The Riddler

10 December 2009 2:17 PM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

From comedian Dane Cook to the fans themselves, it seems that everybody is crossing their fingers that The Riddler will show up in the eventual sequel to "The Dark Knight."

While the villain's involvement in a third "Batman" film is far from confirmed — heck, the actual existence of "Batman 3" is speculative at this point — it's worth wondering who could play Edward Nigma should he wind up in Christopher Nolan's return to Gotham City.

Given Nolan's proclivity towards a darker, more realistic tone than his live-action "Batman" predecessors, it's important to steer clear of actors that would take a hammy, parody-riddled approach to The Riddler. This is a character that should have wit and humor, sure, but also pose a threat. With those qualities in mind, I think that these five actors would do an excellent job at confounding the citizens of Gotham in an eventual "Batman 3."

Why I'm starting to worry about Iron Man 2 | Stuart Heritage

7 December 2009 8:57 AM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

The film is beginning to sound like Spider-Man 3, and we all know that is not a good thing

The nights are drawing in and it's chilly outside. Yes, it's winter and thus the perfect time for Hollywood to start banging on about its big summer blockbusters. That's why, right now, you can barely move for photos and snippets and rumours about Iron Man 2.

The point of them, of course, is to gee everybody up into a breathless froth ready for its release in May. However – and I might alone here – every new snippet of information about Iron Man 2 is making me a little bit more worried about it.

Although it ended up getting overshadowed by The Dark Knight, the first Iron Man felt like a breath of fresh air when it was released last year. Although it had to balance Tony Stark's origins story with Gwyneth Paltrow, …

Soderbergh Eyes Retirement

4 December 2009 4:16 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh is planning to "wind down" his movie making, because he needs a "career-change."

The Erin Brockovich director admits he's become disillusioned with the film industry and is weighing up his options, because he doesn't find big screen projects fulfilling any more.

The 46 year old, whose credits include Sex, Lies, and Videotape and Ocean's Eleven, has not ruled out returning after taking a break, but is seriously considering leaving Hollywood behind for good.

He tells British radio station BBC Radio 4, "I feel the need to recalibrate, just step away. (I'm) winding down, it's time for a change.

"I'll go away and come back with a different approach - or I won't. Maybe a change of career." …

Watch This: 44 Inch Chest Official Trailer with Ray Winstone

3 December 2009 3:37 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

From the writers of Sexy Beast. That's the tagline for the film, which should help it do well in the UK. 44 Inch Chest stars a brilliant cast of British actors including Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, John Hurt, Tom Wilkinson, and Joanne Whalley. It's a conman comedy about British mobster who loses his wife to another man and kidnaps the other man. I can't tell from the trailer, but apparently the whole thing starts to go wrong in the second half. What I love about this is that it's kind of a British Ocean's 11 hybrid, but about a relationship not actually stealing money. I'm looking forward to seeing it - looks fun! Check out the trailer. Watch the UK trailer for Malcolm Venville's 44 Inch Chest: Colin is devastated when his wife announces she's leaving him for a younger man, and ends up sprawled drunkenly amidst the wreckage of their …

Slingers Sizzle Reel (Awesome of the Day)

3 December 2009 3:09 AM, PST | Pastemagazine.com | See recent PasteMagazine news »

It's not an existing TV show. It's not even a pilot. Creator Mike Sizemore is still putting the finishing touches on that, as well as starting to write the first six episodes. But there's a sizzle reel. And it looks freaking awesome. It takes place in the Swinging Sixties—2263, to be precise. With a tagline, "Getting home - one heist at a time," it looks like a futuristic Ocean's Eleven, and may be the first show set in space since Battlestar Galactica that could reach beyond a sci-fi audience if it finds the right network. …

Box Office: Everybody's Armored Brothers

2 December 2009 5:15 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

New Moon did 70% less this week but still managed to hold onto first place. Just as interesting is that The Blind Side had an 18% increase from last week while only appearing in 30 more theaters. Old Dogs just didn't have the energy and landed back in fourth with Ninja Assassin taking sixth. Here's the top five:

1. The Twilight Saga: New Moon $42.8 million

2. The Blind Side: $40.1 million

3. 2012: $17.6 million

4. Old Dogs: $16.9 million

5. A Christmas Carol: $15.7 million

Four new releases this week:

Armored

What's It All About: A group of underpaid armored car drivers join forces to swipe a big pile of loot, though of course nothing goes as smoothly as planned. Matt Dillon and Laurence Fishburne star.

Why It Might Do Well: The success of Ocean's 11 and its sequels would seem to indicate there's a market for heist movies.

Why It Might Not Do Well: Unfortunately this movie …

Welcome, readers, to a new edition of the 90210 Round Table!

As touched on in our review of "And Away They Go," we were disappointed by the events from this episode - but also excited by the possibilities they opened up for future storylines and relationships.

We hope fans are discussin developments in-depth in our 90210 forum and, as always, we encourage feedback to the topics analyzed below...

Did Liam and company's revenge against Jen live up to the hype?

M.L. House: Not even close. It didn't even make much sense. They shelled out money to purchase her random, expensive gifts; and hired some actor... all to simply lure her into a room? I don't know who the brains behind this operation was, but he/she spent about .6 seconds coming up with it.

Dr. Shepherd: No. The commercials made it seem like the entire hour would be focused on some cool, …

TV Bites: Simon Cowell Plots Vegas Heist

2 December 2009 6:30 AM, PST | Movieline | See recent Movieline news »

· In a recent GQ article, TV's Richest Man, Simon Cowell, outlined a Las Vegas scheme so unlikely, so complicated and so risky, that it sounds like George Clooney's plan to rob the Bellagio vaults in Ocean's Eleven. First, the show will set up production in a Vegas casino-hotel, where Cowell & Co. will broadcast two talent shows a week live over the internet where the American Idol judge expects "20, 30, 40 million" to pay to watch each episode. For reference, American Idol averages 30 million (non-paying) viewers while Ufc, a successful pay franchise, draws about one million viewers per fight. After the Vegas X Factor has taken off, Cowell will pack Chinese acrobat Paula Abdul into a briefcase and shop the live competition show around the world. [Hollywood Reporter]

'Fantastic Mr. Fox' Lives Up to its Name

21 November 2009 9:05 PM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Like Coraline, Spirited Away, and Where the Wild Things Are before it, Fantastic Mr. Fox is a children's film that doesn't treat its pint-sized audience with kid gloves. Though Wes Anderson's previous directorial outings have had their fair share of man-children, this is the first film that the hipster favorite  has created with kids in mind. However, this smart adaptation of a Roald Dahl classic never talks down to its viewers, and its fun, feisty adventure proves to be Anderson's best work since The Royal Tenenbaums.

Mr. Fox (voiced by George Clooney) has ambition. He gave up the life of a bird thief 12 fox years ago (that's two years, to you and me), and he now spends his days as a corduroy-suit-clad newspaperman. He, Mrs. Fox (Meryl Streep), and their rebellious son, Ash (Jason Schwartzman), have finally moved up in the world: instead of calling a hole their home, …

Pitt Rules Out Directing Career

18 November 2009 12:06 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Brad Pitt has ruled out a career in directing - because he's convinced his obsessive attention to detail would drive him mad.

The Ocean's Eleven star has enjoyed an acting career spanning two decades and is convinced he will always stay in front of the camera.

He tells Britain's Ok! magazine, "To be a director you have to be a real perfectionist. I would get mad. I'd rather build houses. It's very similar to directing, actually, because you're inside this piece of art, you're surrounded by it." …

Jon Turteltaub Giving Greenpeace The National Treasure Treatment

13 November 2009 7:20 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

He found a treasure map on the back of the Declaration of Independence and made us all believe John Travolta had special powers, and now Jon Turteltaub is going to make something out of those hippies who run around on boats trying to save whales. That's right: he's giving Greenpeace the National Treasure treatment. According to Variety, the film will be set in the late 70s and early 80s, when the organization was just getting started thanks to charismatic founding members Bob Hunter and Rex Weyler. It sounds like the take will be something along the lines of an ecological Ocean's Eleven, with a ragtag group teaming up to stop things like infant harp seal hunting and nuclear bomb tests. Greenpeace will be cooperating on the project, which means we probably won't be seeing too many dirty hippie jokes or comments about exactly how relevant Greenpeace is these days. But …

Shawn Ryan Reminisces on The Shield

2 November 2009 7:54 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The creator of the landmark cable series talks about the new Complete Series DVD set, Terriers and more.

Back in 2002, a series aired that changed the face of television and became my favorite TV series of all time - Hands Down - The Shield. For seven seasons I was absolutely riveted by the exploits of the Strike Team in the fictional Los Angeles district of Farmington, and that of their leader Vic Mackey, played to utmost perfection by Michael Chiklis. Sadly, the TV series came to an end last fall, with a series finale that is, in my opinion, the single best series finale in TV history ( to read my farewell piece to this amazing series) and now viewers can relive the TV magic with The Shield: The Complete Series, which hits the shelves in a massive 28-disc set on November 3. I was fortunate enough to have an exclusive …

Paparazzi faulted for Hollywood break-ins (poor fashion sense clearly also to blame)

27 October 2009 1:02 PM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

We don't want to make light of teens being arrested for allegedly breaking into the homes of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan — even if this La Times summary of events is begging for it: "According to Los Angeles police detectives, the group studied television shows, celebrity magazines and websites picking out clothing and jewelry they wanted." (Hilton and Lohan would not be on our "wanted" list. Rachel Bilson, whose home was also broken into? Okay, slightly more aspirational.) Naturally, an attorney who represents some of the celebrity victims has blamed the paparazzi for photographing stars' homes and magazines for covering their whereabouts, …

Clooney's new show plays the Blues on TNT

27 October 2009 12:59 PM, PDT | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

TNT has ordered a pilot for a series called Delta Blues that is executive produced by George Clooney. The show comes from Smokehouse Pictures, the production company that the actor and his business partner Grant Heslov own.

As written by Liz Garcia and Josh Harto, the pilot is about a Memphis police officer who also has a night job as an Elvis Presley impersonator. That's not the shameful part; he also lives with his mother. Oh noes!

This isn't the first TV producing venture for Clooney. Prior to founding Smokehouse he was involved with Ocean's Eleven director Steven Soderberg on the HBO series Unscripted and K Street. Both series had short 10-episode single season runs before being axed. …

Depp, Leo, Clooney All Potential Frank Sinatras

27 October 2009 5:04 AM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Several months ago, it was announced that Universal would make a Frank Sinatra bio-pic. The problem is that director Martin Scorsese apparently wants one actor to play Ol' Blue Eyes, the studio wants someone else, and Sinatra's daughter Tina wants a different leading man altogether. Something's gotta give.

According to The Guardian, Scorsese would like Leonardo DiCaprio, which is no surprise, Universal reportedly wants Johnny Depp, and that's no shock, while Sinatra thinks George Clooney is the way to go. That one is a bit of stretch, although he'd make a great Dean Martin.

Now, the Clooney thing could be related to Ocean's 11 and all that, but Tina Sinatra, an executive producer on the project, wants Clooney because "she wants the movie to focus on music and not the violence, sex, and drinking." …

I saw quite a bit this week, but some of it I have already detailed such as my reviews for Trucker and Tormented. I also watched the Blu-ray for Love, Actually (a personal favorite and a review is forth-coming) as well as the following three films.

You can get more details on the complete set right here and I hope to discuss the other three films (The Big Heat, The Lineup and Murder by Contract) next Sunday or perhaps in a complete review.

As always, remember you can keep tabs on my personal Netflix queue right here. I now have 50 friends on the movie rental site and would love to have a few more if those of you out there with accounts are interested. Now, …
