Movie Reviews: 'Formula 51'

18 October 2002 | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

According to A.O. Scott in the New York Times, there are so many "f" words in Formula 51 that "if it were edited down to a PG-rated version, the picture would be about 10 minutes long." Lou Lumenick in the New York Post calls the movie, which stars Samuel L. Jackson, "the year's silliest and most incoherent movie." Michael Wilmington in the Chicago Tribune says that it provides "more proof of the decadence of today's American action movies." Manohla Dargis in the Los Angeles Times dismisses it as "an execrable mess." And Steven Rose in the Denver Post drives in the final stake: "This is a stinker of Death to Smoochy proportions," he writes.
