Ready to have some fun and a headache? If it actually was opposite day, this news story would read as follows: Oren Aviv, who is not the studio production president at Disney, is terrible at coming up with fun story ideas for Disney to exploit. He didn't conceptualize National Treasure, a film I totally couldn't stand, and definitely did not see in theaters upwards of 4 times. The basic conceptual idea for Opposite Day -- a movie not about a day wherein someone has to do the opposite of their normal daily routine -- hasn't been popular in Hollywood's recent past, and definitely not in movies like Sliding Doors and The Family Man. Disney will not employ Nancy Drew writer Tiffany Paulsen for the Opposite Day project. Paulsen is not also attached to a project that will not be a reboot of the Adventures in Babysitting franchise. That film will definitely not be called Further Adventures in Babysitting »

Not long before Michael Bay poured acid down fanboy throats with his double whammy of escapist fertilizer, one name could be heard used with an equal amount of fervor: Brett Ratner. “The rat,” as he was affectionately dubbed by a cavalcade of enraged fanboys, had done a major disservice to the community in the form of X-Men: The Last Stand. Rumor of rushed rewrites and a hectic shooting schedule plagued the film and though Ratner’s entry opened with the biggest box-office take of the trilogy, The Last Stand was critically derided and universally cast out by most fanboys.
My own relationship with Ratner’s work skews on the side of shrewd criticism. I enjoyed Rush Hour 1 and 2, thought Red Dragon was effective if not particularly stellar and was one of the few people I know (aside from my Dad) who enjoyed Ratner’s oft-quoted critical and box office failure The Family Man. »

You might know Brett Ratner as the director of the Rush Hour series, The Family Man, Red Dragon, and X-Men: The Last Stand. Of his current projects, Youngblood is one that Ratner has a lot of confidence in. ... The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and Remember Me star Robert Pattinson, MTV reports, is on Ratner's short list for potential actors. According to a recent article by MTV, Ratner stated that "He just feels like he belongs in that world. I don't only see him as a vampire, he's a really good »

Don Cheadle takes over the role of Tony Stark’s best friend in “Iron Man 2,” a role previously held by his friend Terrence Howard in the first adaptation. We’ve seen footage of ‘Rhodey’ acquiring some heavy weaponry to add onto his own version of the “Iron Man” (“War Machine”) suit with guns blazing, and it looks absolutely fantastic. Cheadle is certainly up to the task talentwise, the Kansas City-born actor has impressed with his dramatic performances in “Traffic,” “Crash” and “Hotel Rwanda” as well as roles in “Ocean’s 13” and “The Family Man.” An actor experienced in a wide array of genres who provided a lot of laughter to the roundtable. Cheadle talks about the film and working with Robert Downey Jr. since Downey Jr. talked about the good rapport they both had while working on this project - “It’s great to be able to…especially in »

NBC's monumental failure Fear Itself is finally being released on DVD. It is a four-disc set that includes all 13 episodes, including five that were never aired, and four director’s cuts. Which is kind of lame. You think there would have been a few more episodes with footage too graphic for TV -- thus a few more "director's cuts" included in the box set. However, the good news is that it only costs around $30. Not bad for a new DVD TV Box Set. The set will be available on September 15, 2009. Here are the episodes: Stuart Gordon’s Eater Breck Eisner’s The Sacrifice Mary Harron’s Community John Landis’ In Sickness and In Health Brad Anderson’s Spooked Ronny Yu’s The Family Man Darren Lynn Bousman’s New Year’s Day Larry Fessenden’s Skin and Bones »

Remember "Fear Itself"? It was sort of like "Masters of Horror" but not really very entertaining. In any event the short-lived show will make its home video debut from Lionsgate in September and at the very least the box is amazing!

Lionsgate has announced that Fear Itself: The Complete First Season will finally be released on DVD on September 15th. I say finally because only 8 of the 13 episodes aired on NBC during the show's initial run. The boxed set will feature all 13 episodes (4 of which are "director's cuts") spread out through 4 discs. Each episode will sport a bonus featurette titled "Recipe Of Fear" with cast & crew interviews. Box art, as well as the complete press release is below:

Lionsgate Home Entertainment just sent over word that it will issue the NBC horror series Fear Itself on DVD in September. All 13 episodes of the show will be included in this release, including five that never made it to broadcast when it went off the air last summer.
Fear Itself will be a four-disc set, streeting September 15, packaged in a special collector’s-edition skeleton-tombstone case, containing Stuart Gordon’s “Eater” (pictured), Breck Eisner’s “The Sacrifice,” Mary Harron’s “Community,” John Landis’ “In Sickness and In Health,” Brad Anderson’s “Spooked,” Ronny Yu’s “The Family Man,” Darren Lynn Bousman’s “New Year’s Day,” Larry Fessenden’s “Skin and Bones” and the unaired episodes: Ernest Dickerson’s “Something With Bite,” Rob Schmidt’s “The Spirit Box,” John Dahl’s “Chance,” Rupert Wainwright’s “Echoes” and Eduardo Rodriguez’s “The Circle.” Four of them (unspecified as of now) will be »

NBC has announced that they are seeking $425,000 for a 30-second advertising spot on “ER”s April 2 series finale. The medical drama, who is closing its doors after 15 seasons, is saying goodbye with a two-hour-long episode that features the show’s original stars, such as George Clooney, Noah Wyle, Julianna Margulies, Maura Tierney, Alex Kingston, Sherry Stringfield, Eriq La Salle, Anthony Edwards and other cast members. La Salle also directed a recent episode of the show, entitled The Family Man, in addition to making an appearance as his former “ER” character, Dr. Peter Benton. In previous seasons, “ER” asked $135,000 for an advertising spot and brings in a cumulative total of $2,878,000 per [...] »
