Sherri Shepherd Lets Go of Mom Guilt

13 December 2009 5:00 AM, PST | People - CelebrityBabies | See recent People - CelebrityBabies news »

Jason Merritt/FilmMagic

Women do themselves a disservice by assuming so much guilt in their day-to-day lives, Sherri Shepherd says in a new interview with Express Night Out, and nowhere is that more apparent than when it comes to parenting.

“You can take your kid to the park and he can fall,” the 42-year-old The View co-host points out. “A man will go, ‘Did you hurt yourself? You aight. Get up, dust yourself off and get on back up there.’”

“We go, ‘Oh my goodness! Did somebody see it? Are we bad mothers? What did I do wrong? And we »

'Jersey Shore' on MTV: Furthering guido stereotypes or just harmless fun?

4 December 2009 1:53 PM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

So, last night was the premiere of MTV's delicious, guido-loving, fist-pumping docu-reality series Jersey Shore, a show that's been ruffling more than a few feathers because it supposedly builds on negative stereotypes and bad behaviors of a subset of Italian-Americans that call themselves "guidos." But... did those haters actually watch the show? Well, I did, and I'm here to tell you it's pretty much the bomb. (Sorry if that offends you!) Sure, it's also pretty much complete trash—and it certainly does build on stereotypes of "guidos"—but c'mon! It's really just harmless fun. (And if you aren't one of »

Five Actresses Who Should Play the Black Cat in Spider-Man 4, And Three Who Shouldn’t

18 November 2009 9:48 AM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

If you read a lot of movie blogs, chances are that you've seen plenty of suggestions about this week's top rumor, the question of who should play The Black Cat in Spider-Man 4. You can throw all of those suggestions out the window. Because as you know, it isn't worth reading until we weigh in on the topic. And with that, I would like to suggest our own list of ladies who should be wearing tight outfits and sneaking into NYC banks. Initially the rumor was that Wedding Crashers starlet Rachel McAdams would be slipping on a tight cat burglar outfit and playing Felicia Hardy -- the noble, sweet and oh-so-dangerous villainess who once captured the heart of Spider-man. But that was squashed as an "internet rumor." As well, there has also been word that Julia Stiles has read for the part. But nothing is certain for director Sam Raimi, as »

Brought to you by: That Dating Website You Just Joined - Don't worry. This one probably won't find you true happiness either. This week, on a very special episode of Reject Radio, I fight my way through nasal congestion to provide another electrifying show thanks completely to my special guests - the soft-spoken John Gholson from Horror's Not Dead and Sci-fi Squad as well as our very own Culture Warrior, Landon Palmer. We made zero vagina references despite reviewing The Box. This oversight will be remedied on next week's show. The Vampire Diaries Round Table: "Family Ties"

2 October 2009 3:48 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Welcome to the latest edition of The Vampire Diaries Round Table!

Following a suspenseful episode, during which the stakes were raised considerably in the final scene, our staff can't wait to delve into various characters and developments from "Family Ties."

We'd love to hear from readers, too, as we cover the most pressing topics from this week's installment...

Will Damon escape the basement?

VDLover: Call me crazy, but I don't think this is the last we'll see of Damon. I know Stefan doesn't wanna become like his brother, but come on. He couldn't have done a better job of incapacitating him?

DoMeDamon: Yes, and Zack will help, turning on Stefan.

ElenaLova: I love this show, but that part bothered me. Stefan went to so much trouble to poison his brother... and then stuck him in a locked-up cellar room?!? Damon can jump through windows, overpower any human being. I'm pretty »

Vampire Diaries Recap: "Family Ties"

1 October 2009 8:49 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

What a great episode of The Vampire Diaries.

Throughout the hour, viewers learned more about the history of the Salvatore brothers, as well as Mystic Falls in general.

We also met Caroline's mother and Tyler's parents, all of whom seem to have something sinister up their sleeves in regard to Damon and Salvatore.

Read all about "Family Ties" via our detailed episode guide.

Below, we've compiled a few of our favorite Vampire Diaries quotes from the installment...

Damon: You're dead, dude. Get over it. | permalink Caroline: Are you gonna kill me?

Damon: Hmm-mmm. But not yet. | permalink Damon: What's so special about this Bella girl? Edward's so whipped!

Caroline: You've gotta read the first book first. It won't make sense if you don't.

Damon: I miss Anne Rice. She was so on it. | permalink Damon: It's cool not growing old. I like being the eternal stud. | permalink   »

Views: Not Quite Were The World Mine

28 September 2009 4:17 PM, PDT | doorQ.com | See recent doorQ.com news »

Managed to catch Were The World Mine on Logo over the weekend. If you aren't familiar with it it, it's a queer spin on Shakespeare's A Midsummers Night's Dream, the classic tale of lovers, love and fairies.  In this gay update, it's boy meets boy, boy isn't sure if boy is gay, boy gets magic flower that makes people gay and choses to turn the whole town queer. Magic ensues.

Mine won a slew of award at festivals around the world, including best Narrative, Audience Favorite and Best Music.  I'm not a huge musical fan, but some of the production numbers in the film were really inspired. Adapting Shakespeare's awesome dialogue to music, as in the scene below, was really cool. I've found myself humming parts of the score as I wandered through my weekends.

What I had a lot of problem with was the story. For me, it just never jelled. »

Queen Sophie-Ann makes her debut on "True Blood"

31 August 2009 4:00 PM, PDT | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

The moment we had all been waiting for finally happened last night: Evan Rachel Wood brought her dark sex appeal to True Blood. I might get burned at the stake or torn into by maenads for saying this, but what they did with Sophie-Ann Queen of the Vampires was a Snorefest from Snoozerville.

Evan really wasn’t given a lot to work with but before I get to the bad stuff, the one thing they did right was make her sexy. If Sophie-Ann wanted to take a chug of femoral blood from me, I’d tell her to sharpen her teeth and put on her best bedazzled bib.

It’s a shame, but sexiness couldn’t save the lame storyline they gave to her character this episode.

First, I must ask, of all games to play, why Yahtzee? It has to be one of the most boring games to ever be played, »

She's Leaving Home

30 August 2009 7:59 PM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

By Sharon Waxman

She left home today.

In actual fact, I still can’t believe it. I’m used to being the one who leaves all the time. Today I was left. By my little girl.

Why is that so damn hard?

It’s a ritual every parent goes through if they’re fortunate enough to have a kid who grows up and makes it through high school to go to college:

You get left. Get over it. Be happy. Be thrilled. Count your blessings.

The end of the summer is always filled with a touch of regret. We try to hold on to those long, hot days and those cool, dreamy nights. We »

Watch: Care Bears on Fire, 'Everybody Else'

25 June 2009 12:10 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Call them the anti-Miley Cyrus. Buzz is building for Care Bears on Fire, a trio of ninth-grade girls who write and sing their own material. A summer tour includes two dates at Lollapalooza. First single, "Everybody Else," from the band's forthcoming CD, "Get Over It," is a spunky kiss-off to conformity with its "don't want to be like everybody else" refrain and is a must listen for teenage girls. This is truly Grrrrrrl power. On his Sirius/Xm radio show "The Underground Garage," Little Steven declared "Everybody Else" the "coolest song in the world" on last week's episode. Like most punk »

Week in Review: 'Dark Knight' Snub?, Narnia, Rourke-a-Mania

30 January 2009 4:43 AM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

So many stories, so little time. We realy do try to stay on top of as much of the headlines as we can, but it's impossible, or at least certainly improbable. But I do hope you find something in our little retrospective that you might not have read about before.

Don't forget: The Super Bowl is this Sunday, and there are about a half dozen big 2009 blockbusters throwing trailers into the big game. Monsters vs. Aliens is going full-on 3-D for its commercial, which I predict most people will watch without the glasses, but with headaches.

Here are the top stories this week:

Hey, 'Dark Knight' Fans: Get Over It Already

28 January 2009 12:30 PM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

In the past week, I've read a lot of complaining about The Dark Knight being passed over for a Best Picture nomination. People on message boards say the Academy doesn't know what it's doing, even though the Academy is made up precisely of people who know what they're doing; they make movies for a living, how about you?

It's understandable to be disappointed if The Dark Knight was your favorite film of 2008. But there were plenty of good films last year, although not very many great ones. Is The Dark Knight more deserving than Wall-e? No. It made more money, but that's a different argument. I don't hear very much noise about Wall-e getting the shaft, even though it will have a lot more to do with the future of filmmaking than The Dark Knight will.

The common response seems to be that angry Dark Knight fans will boycott the Academy Awards. »
