The best Muppet / pirate movie ever made!
Martin^522 May 2000
This is a really funny movie, almost even if you don't like the Muppets or pirates. The jokes are very 'muppetesque', almost with a little Monty Python thrown into the mix. Tim Curry does a great job as does the Muppet cast. The story isn't much to talk about, get to Treasure Island and grab the loot, but it doesn't matter as the characters and the situations they get themselves into are what's worth seeing.

If you're bored, give this one a try!

If you love The Muppets, you'll love this hilarious tale!
Naz-63 June 2000
This has a very basic storyline, which is livened up with the very silly and immensely witty jokes. It toyed with my childish humour throughout and I even found myself singing along to the suberbly written songs. A must for Muppet lovers!

The best Muppet Treasure Island PC game ever. Sorry to hear about Tim Curry's stroke.
crosswalkx10 October 2015
When this movie came out in 1996, people went to see it. What most people don't know is in that same year the 1996 PC game version came out as a click and point adventure game.

As you know, Tim Curry who played as Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island for the PC had a stroke back in 2012 that crippled him to a wheelchair, which I was very sad and upset about since he's in Muppet Treasure Island CD-rom game in 1996 before the stroke happened to him. I liked him since he was more involved in this game than in the movie.

In this game you are Jim Hawkins played by a first person view. You have 3 discs you are required to change each time you get to the end of disc 1 and disc 2. Similar to "Final Fantasy 7", "Final Fantasy 8", "Final Fantasy 9" where you also have to change discs on the Playstation 1 and PC games. I like that you can choose which Chapter you can play in, I'd wish Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and even 13 had this feature since those are long RPG games.

Anyways you play through 4 main levels of the game. First at the Benbow Inn. You meet Gonzo, and Rizzo and Billy Bones. You also see Blind Pew. Then you hear Billy Bones scream "THE BLACK SPOT! NO! Stevenson the Parrot guides you in the game. You have to find the treasure map. You also find notes in bottles with Captain Flint speaking to you. Also you have to find 4 compass stones that are important. The death scene of Billy Bones is unknown. Although in the movie he died of a stroke. After you find the treasure map. Part of the Benbow Inn gets blown up and your face is covered by molasses. Rizzo the rat sings "99 pieces of cheese on the wall"

Then you arrive at the town of Bristol where you meet Jeeves the servant dog who tells you to buy new clothes at the clothes shop. You have to fight pirates by launching pies at them. Also you can meet Dr. Teeth and play songs on the piano like "Drunken Sailor" and "Head and Shoulders" and many more songs, you also get to meet Fozzie the bear as the Squire Trelawney, Dr. Livsey and Beaker, Kermit the Frog as Smollett Sam Eagle as Mr. Samuel Arrow.

You also get to sail on the Hispaniola. There are pirates like Angel Marie, Polly Lobster and you meet Long John Silver the friendly pirate. You can play games like Mahjong, build a ship model, fire the cannon, weigh the anchor, make apple pies. Load cargo in life boats. You also get to look at the stars and make patterns. Then you can listen to Long John Silver plan a mutiny with his pirates. Then you steer the helm to Treasure Island. But Long John kidnaps you and rows you to the Island.

Then can meet the islanders including Miss Piggy as Benjamina Gunn. You can see 2 skeleton pirates that are hanged. You can also solve the puzzle to unlock the cave. When Long John and the pirates discover the treasure is gone. You can find another secret entrance to Benjamina Gunns room. Then you find the piles of treasure and it's taken to the ship. But you have to fight pirates by throwing coconuts at their heads before they surrender. You can watch 9 clips of the movie from "Muppet Treasure Island" although the part where Miss Piggy says to her servants "Oh knock it off" has been cut out.

Anyways it's a great game, the jokes by Fozzie are funny, also Beaker getting shot out of a cannon is very funny, it's fun to click on objects and watch animations happen or Muppets having conversations.

It's a shame Activision has not reissued or made the PC download available. Also I cannot find the soundtrack to the PC game since the music by Nathan Wang is beautiful, the songs should be available to buy on MP3 players. I hope that people can one day be able to play this game that I've played as a teenager in the 1990s. I hope Tim Curry recovers soon, I'm sorry that he's now in a wheelchair since he made a difference in my life in this PC game.

Great Film!!!
x_X_xturkishdelightx_X_x20 November 2005
This film is awesome!!!! I used to be addicted to watching it!!! i ave all of the Muppet's show on video but i think that the films are a lot better because they are a lot funnier and i like the fact that in the films they act like they know they are in a children's film. lol. I Think that Tim Curry, the one who plays Long John Silver was absolutely fantastic at playing him. I think that Treasure Island is just better than The Muppets Christmas Carol. The Puppet that is blind and comes in the House at the beginning and gives him the black spot is really freaky!!!! I wonder now why i didn't have nightmares at the time because i find it really scary now!!! But overall i think it is a great film and would definitely recommend it if you like a good laugh!!!

excellent classic muppet film, full of the usual laughs and songs!

Classic muppet film, full of the usual jokes, songs and characters that make the muppets loved by all. Watchable again and again and again. Kermit is his usual lovable self and so are all the rest of the gang as they put the muppet spin on a classic to make it their own.

Excellent, classic muppet movie
rosaleen-219 July 1999
This is one of the funniest movies- I quote from it all the time. It has all the clever Muppet jokes and spoofs, and of course great songs. The lyrics to the songs are hilarious. Really a great movie.

Love brought us here
annmason111 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I think that sums this wonderful movie best; the irony that is the Muppet's trademark; the inside jokes that only those over 21 get, ("If you had crabs on your bottom, you'd be grouchy too!"); the color, the just plain wit of the thing. This is a delightful film.

The Jewish cruise group is hilarious-the concept to start with, then their comments along the way, the "asides" on the main story..."These South Sea floor shows are great" (or something to that effect);"What's with the wine! You're washing the paint off the shuffleboard game!"

My favorite song is "I have cabin fever". It is hilarious.

Of course, Tim Curry is wonderful, as always. He has hewn for himself a unique place in movies; always odd, yet always likable and funny. He is really a fine actor; I would like to see him in a serious role some day.

My favorite scene is when poor Kermit and Ms. Piggy dangle over certain death on the rocks below singing, "Love Brought Us Here." Amen.

By far the best,of many good, Muppet movies. Thanks, all you Muppet guys!

A wonderful family film!
MELGIENAU1 June 2001
This is a perfect family film. Not only do you have those amazing puppets, you also have a classic story line and plenty of humor that even adults can enjoy. It is constant laughs from start to finish with seamless interaction between live actors and puppets. The only flaw is some of the singing. There is even a moral to the story with a lesson learned at the end. Finally, don't think the movie is over just because the credits are rolling!
