Farscape fans rejoice! Claudia Black just gave us some more info on the show’s upcoming webisodes when we spoke to her on the red carpet for the Spike TV Video Game Awards. Black was nominated for Best Voice for her role as Chloe Frazer in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. She may have lost out to Megan Fox, but the game took the title Game of the Year. (She’s also the voice of Morrigan in Dragon Age: Origins which was voted Best RPG…and is sitting on my desk, tempting me to blow off work.)
So you are up for an award tonight!
Claudia Black: I am! I’m a little busy tonight. I’m also the voice of the show, so I’ll be sitting in a little booth doing the live announcing.
So between Farscape, Stargate and your multitude of video game voices, you have a ton of sci-fi fans. …

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Muppets, so the concept of Farscape intrigued me from the start. After all, this is Muppets in space way before Muppets From Space. What’s not to love about that? Luckily, I wasn’t disappointed.
The 26 disc set - released 10 years after the show began - follows John Crighton, an astronaut who accidentally enters a wormhole and finds himself in another galaxy far, far away. Of course, this isn’t just any galaxy. Nope, this galaxy happens to be one in which a huge war is being waged, and John (Ben Browder) finds himself right in the middle of it. While John is trying to figure out what the hell is going on, the ironically named Peacekeepers make things very hard for him and his newfound friends. Among these allies are the lovely Aeryn Sun, D’Argo, Rygel XVI (both a …

This oughta get the True Blood-thirsty among you salivating! Since Alan Ball has confirmed that season 3 will make an animal attraction of the werewolf Alcide (who debuted in the third Sookie novel, Club Dead), I thought I — and, in turn, you — should help the series' busy, busy creator on his hunt for just the right actor to sink his teeth into the juicy part. My suggestions: Henry Cavill: If The Tudors' other heartthrob can look that good in tights and frilly shirts, we can't imagine he'd fare worse with back hair front and back. The question is, …

It's an interesting week for comics with movie/television tie-ins, with a lot of fan-favorite properties in the mix—especially for science-fiction fans! Here's what we're adding to our pull list for August 12, 2009:
"Star Trek: Nero" #1 (Idw Publishing): Remember how Romulan villain Nero (played by Eric Bana) was supposed to have been waiting 25 years to catch Spock after getting caught in that crazy time-bending portal? What was he doing all that time? Well, if that plot element from the recent "Star Trek" movie has been keeping you up at night, you can sleep safely knowing that Idw is kicking off a new series this week that chronicles Nero's off-camera machinations.
Written by Mike Johnson and Tim Jones, with art and covers by David Messina, "Nero" follows in the footsteps of Idw's previous, well-received "Star Trek" titles that not only earned kudos from comics fans, but from the Trek faithful, …

Fragments, while it does have fleeting glimmers of hope, is a film that never realizes its full potential. The marketing for the film suggests that it bears some similarity to Paul Haggis’ Academy Award winning film Crash. The similarities are merely superficial. An ensemble cast united by a tragic event is about as close as the two films get. Fragments, while making a few inlays into the festival circuit, never found theatrical release and is only available on DVD. The film is also listed under two titles: Winged Creatures (which is the name of the Roy Freirich novel on which the film is based) and Fragments.
I’d keep this one off your queue
Fragments tells the story of various characters who find themselves in a small town diner as a tragic and random event transpires. A lone gunman, for no specified reason, murders patrons before turning the gun on himself. …

To be honest with you, as a longtime fan of Farscape, I had every intention of attending the show’s Comic-Con ‘09 panel as just a fanboy. I’m happy to say that there were actually some news-worthy nuggets from the panel. Ostensibly a press release to fans about the upcoming Farscape megaset DVD from A&E (you can read more about that here), the panel, which featured stars Ben Browder (snazzily dressed in a suit and tie) and Claudia Black, creator Rockne O’Bannon, and Henson Company head honcho Brian Henson (they did all the puppets on the show, as well as produced it), nevertheless offered up some interesting news about the future of Farscape. Some of you may or may not know, but O’Bannon has continued the story of Aeryn Sun and John Crichton in comic book form from Boom! Comics. According to O’Bannon, the comic takes …

If you’re a connoisseur of Farscape, you have a few good things to look forward to. Especially if you’re attending San Diego Comic-Con 2009.
Comic-Con
Ben Browder and Claudia Black, creator Rockne O’Bannon and executive producer Brian Henson are going to be appearing at Comic-Con in a panel on July 24th at 10:15 a.m. in Room 6Bcef at San Diego Comic-Con.
But this might not be the only panel with Farscape in it.
Rumors have it that there may very well be another panel involving the comic book (which began publication last year) based on Farscape. No details as of yet as to when or where, but that can be cool.
Webisodes From Syfy?
At the moment, Syfy (soon to be formerly Sci-Fi) is reportedly committed to creating a series of webisodes for Farscape. They aren’t near the stage of creating scripts yet, but plans are in development. …

Now this is certainly exciting news for fans of Rockne O’Bannon’s brilliant sci-fi show Farscape, which ran on the Sci Fi Channel from 1999 to 2003, and included a mini-series to tie up loose ends. As someone who has never missed a single episode, this is very good news. This trailer for Scifi channel's Quantum Apocalypse actually premiered a while back but we neglected to post it for some reason. Then I read a funny story about how the film got its name and I thought I'd finally post it.
Basically what happened was our pal Foywonder over at Dread Central was poking fun at writer Leigh Scott who was having trouble getting his story for a film called "Judgement Day" approved. He mentioned that it was probably because the film didn't comply with what must be a Scifi rule that all original films have colons in their titles. He joked that he should have called it "Judgment Day: Quantum Apocalypse" and Scifi would have loved it. Leigh liked the tag so much he presented it. They loved it. Quantum Apocalypse was born.

The original CSI series has a habit of setting episodes in the worlds of various subcultures -- they've had cases about furries, vampires and the Bdsm scene. Surprisingly, it's taken until the ninth season for them to get around to solving a crime at a science fiction convention.
Tune in tonight to CBS at 9 Pm Est for the episode "A Space Oddity," where two of the lab rats, Hodges and Wendy, go to blow off steam at a convention for a fictional show called, "Astro Quest" (that bears a striking resemblance to a Certain Program about a 5-Year Mission) and find their work following them when a murder takes place.
This episode is going to be a field day for TV Sf fans -- behind the scenes, it's a Star Trek/Battlestar Galactica reunion party (with quite a few other series represented). If you're a credits reader, you may recall …
