'Smallville' Gets Two-Hour Justice Society TV Movie

12 November 2009 12:03 AM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Anytime we bring up Superman around these parts, someone invariably chimes in with what a good idea it would be to cast Tom Welling because, after all, he's played Clark Kent on Smallville. I don't know about that, though; he's kind of a different interpretation of the character. I mean, it could work as well as whatshisname, but I don't think it's perfect for a series of films.

But to appease fans of those, there's going to be a Smallville movie. Kind of. It's a TV movie, which may or may not count depending on your perspective. For instance, how can you accurately rank the best westerns without Lonesome Dove or keep Band of Brothers out of a list of the greatest war epics?

Entertainment Weekly reports that the Justice Society two-part installment of the show, written by Geoff Johns of DC Comics fame, will be combined into a two-hour movie/special event. »

Ron Livingston and Rosemarie DeWitt have officially become husband and wife. The actor's representative confirms exclusively to People that the pair tied the knot in a ceremony held in San Francisco last Monday, November 2. Other detail of the wedding ceremony isn't disclosed though.

Ron Livingston and Rosemarie DeWitt first met on the set of the short-lived Fox's series "Standoff", in which they were co-stars. They've been dating for more than three years before walking down the aisle last week.

Personal life aside, Ron Livingston is best known for his role as Peter Gibbons in 1999 comedy film "Office Space". He, moreover, has appeared in the TV shows "Sex and the City" and miniseries "Band of Brothers".

Glad to see Ron Livingston doesn't have Berger's commitment issues. The 42-year-old actor, who just couldn't deal with Carrie Bradshaw's success on Sex and the City, married fellow thesp Rosemarie DeWitt last week, People reports. They tied the knot Nov. 2 in San Francisco after more than three years of dating. Livingston, best known for sticking it to the man in Office Space, fighting for his country in Band of Brothers and reluctantly taking the Goofy job in Swingers, met DeWitt on the set of the short-lived Fox series Standoff. Veteran's Day Honored, Hollywood-Style

11 November 2009 9:00 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Today is Veteran's Day. It is a time when we step back for a moment to honor the bravery and sacrifices of our nation's soldiers. Men and women who give everything, up to and including their lives, all in the name of protecting this country and all that it represents. Also known as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day in other parts of the world, the holiday always falls on November 11, commemorating the anniversary of the 1918 armistice that brought an end to World War I.

The history of film is rife with stories pulled straight from the front lines. War stories make great cinema, both because they serve up gripping tales of heroism and because they honor those who take on such acts in the real world. So today, in honor of the veterans from wars past and wars ongoing, we give you this small selection of classics to spend some time with. »

Tom Hanks & Steven Spielberg Take You Inside 'The Pacific,' Their WWII 'Band Of Brothers' Follow-Up

10 November 2009 11:00 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

One of the greatest things HBO ever aired was "Band of Brothers," the deeply emotional tale of a group of American soldiers fighting their way through Europe during World War II. The Emmy-winning miniseries was gritty, poignant, violent, shocking and often with a vein of dark humor...basically all of the experiences of men and women in wartime.

The folks behind "Band of Brothers" were none other than Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, who brought their "Saving Private Ryan" expertise to this ultra-realistic outing. Well, now they're back for "The Pacific," which follows three American G.I.'s in the Pacific theater, from their initial landing at Guadalcanal, to Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and all the way through to V-j Day and back stateside.

The ten-part series won't air until March 2010, but you can get a taste for what's in store in the behind-the-scenes featurette below.

Apocalyptic Devil's Playground Starts Production

10 November 2009 5:03 AM, PST | HugAZombie | See recent HugAZombie news »

When it comes to the recent output of zombie movies, it appears the the running "infected" zombie is greatly outpacing George Romero's classic, lumbering zombie. British production studio Black And White Films have two upcoming genre films with Dead Cert, a movie about the classic struggle between gangsters and vampires, and Expose, a remake of the 1976 film of the same name about a psycho personal assistant to a novelist, and now are jumping into the zombie genre with Devil's Playground.

Devil's Playground will be a infected zombie film about a killer (Craig Fairbrass from Dead Cert) who must find a cure to the illness causing the zombie apocalypse since he is slowly turning into a zombie as well. Myanna Burning (The Descent) plays the woman who may have the secret for the cure, while Danny Dyer (Severance) plays her ex-cop boyfriend. Janet Montgomery (Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead »

Sgt. Rock Now Serving Under Director Francis Lawrence

9 November 2009 11:21 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

It’s taken nearly twenty years for Producer Joel Silver to bring DC ComicsSgt. Rock to the big screen.  The film has passed through numerous writers and directors and even in today’s comic-book-hero drenched cinema landscape, but it’s hard out there for a guy who just wants to serve his country even though he has no superpowers.  Now it looks like I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence is going take a shot at enlisting the character.  Hit the jump for details.

According to Heat Vision, Lawrence is attached to direct Sgt. Rock with Chad St. John handling the script.  Silver will team up with the world’s best paid and lousiest writer Akiva Goldsman to produce the film.

Sgt. Frank Rock, leader of his infantry unit, Easy Company (but definitely not like the Easy Company soldiers featured in Band of Brothers) first appeared in a 1959 issue of »

Watch: Behind-the-scenes of HBO's 'The Pacific'

9 November 2009 5:41 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

It may be a little early to start making predictions about the 2010 Emmys, but we're just going to go out on a limb and say that HBO's "The Pacific" may be in the running for an award or two.   Part of that conviction obviously stems from the fact that "The Pacific" comes from Playtone and DreamWorks, who produced HBO's Emmy-winning "Band of Brothers" and that the last thing Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman produced for HBO was "John Adams," which picked up 13 Emmys.   More than that, though, there's something about watching Hanks and executive producer Steven Spielberg... »

Ron Livingston Has a Dinner For Schmucks

26 October 2009 6:30 AM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

Ron Livingston is the beating heart of Mike Judge’s Office Space, a movie that has transcended cult status and is pretty much one of the finest comedies to be released in the 1990s. He’s also pretty notable for the role of Captain Lewis Nixon in Band of Brothers on HBO.

Now, he’ll be joining director Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents) for his new film Dinner for Schmucks.

According to Variety, the film “is an adaptation of the Francis Veber-helmed French film Le dinner de cons, in which a group of bourgeois friends regularly invite the biggest schmucks to dinner to ridicule them.”

The cast that’s shaping up for this film is phenomenal. It’ll be headed up by I Love You, Man’s Paul Rudd and The Office’s Steve Carell, who of course acted together in The 40-Year-Old-Virgin. They’ll be joined »

Ron Livingston Joins Schmucks

26 October 2009 6:17 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Remember Ron Livingston? He’s the actor who you may know from Band of Brothers, Swingers and one of my favourite films of all time, Office Space. He’s completely underrated as an actor which can be seen in the diversity of characters in Office Space and Band of Brothers.

Variety have given us information today stating that Livingston has joined the new Jay Roach comedy also set to star Paul Rudd and Steve Carell, “Dinner for Schmuck”.

Pic is an adaptation of the Francis Veber-helmed French film “Le dinner de cons,” in which a group of bourgeois friends regularly invite the biggest schmucks to dinner to ridicule them. Livingston’s recent credits include New Line’s “The Time Traveler’s Wife” and the indie “Holly.”

'Mad Max 4' May Star Sam Worthington

25 October 2009 9:25 PM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Recently E! Online reported that director George Miller (Mad Max) is hoping to cast British actor Tom Hardy (Black Hawk Down, Band of Brothers) to play a young "Mad" Max Rockatansky in the forthcoming 'Mad Max' movie, which will mark the fourth film in the series.

Rumors are swirling, however, that Australian Terminator star Sam Worthington is more likely to get the part, and according to Australia's Daily Telegraph, with Charlize Theron likely to co-star. It's been reported that Miller wants Theron for the female lead; all of this, naturally, being subject to studio approval.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph is reporting that the new movie will be called 'Mad Max 4: Fury Road' and is set to begin filming in Sydney.

So who should take over the role originated by Mel Gibson? Our vote would be for Worthington—he has the look, the grit...and the acting chops, all »

George Miller Moving Forward With Gibson-less Mad Max 4

23 October 2009 4:13 PM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

There has for the past many years been talk of a fourth Mad Max film, either in live action format, or as an anime. Now it seems the live action one has become the winning choice, as George Miller is moving forward with the movie and looking to cast people for it. For the role of "Mad" Max Rockatansky, however, Miller has ditched the possibility of seeing Mel Gibson return. So fuck this movie. A Mad Max film without Mad Max isn't something I'd like to see, and unlike other franchises, I don't see someone replacing Gibson as a very good choice. Mad Max is not James Bond and neither is he Jack Ryan, he cannot be replaced. There is only one Mad Mel. Miller doesn't agree with me though, and is looking for his replacement in the actor Tom Hardy, who has previously had the lead in Bronson and »

Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron Rumored for 'Mad Max 4'

22 October 2009 2:08 PM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

It appears that director George Miller might be moving ahead with Mad Max 4 without Mel Gibson, the man the series helped transform into one of the world's biggest movie stars. Of course, Gibson only works when and how he wants to (he was already one of the shrewdest investors in show business before he had hundreds of millions from Passion of the Christ), so even if Miller wanted him to return, Mad Mel sure doesn't need to.

But the decision is apparently to go back to the beginning of the apocalypse, with a younger Max Rockatansky. E! Online writes that Miller is zeroing in on Tom Hardy, a British actor probably seen most by Us audiences in Black Hawk Down or Band of Brothers. Charlize Theron might also sign up as the female lead.

Is going with Hardy a good move? Well, there are probably bigger names Miller could grab, »

Mad Max 4 With Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy?

22 October 2009 3:45 AM, PDT | SciFiCool.com | See recent SciFiCool.com news »

That is apparently the word being passed to E! Online today. George Miller, director of the previous Mad Max films (and Happy Feet) is deep in the process of auditions and is perhaps leaning toward Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy (Black Hawk Down, Band Of Brothers, RockNRolla) for the big roles in the film. I’m assuming Tom is or has auditioned for the part of Max himself but apparently the actors aren’t being told what they are auditoning for. I always thought Gerard Butler would be a good choice for Max but Tom Hardy has a pretty amazing resume. A new Max movie is way overdue. Can’t wait. Thanks to ComingSoon for the scoop. »

Charlize Theron: Mad Maxine?

Charlize Theron is ready to go beyond Thunderdome. Mel Gibson, not so much. Multiple sources tell E! News that the Oscar-winning babe is director George Miller's pick to play the lead female role in the upcoming, Mel-less Mad Max 4. When he announced that he would begin work on the sequel back in 2007, Miller admitted Gibson was too old for the antihero role of "Mad" Max Rockatansky, and said, "I don't think he would be interested in being involved at all." Instead, Miller is looking at little-known Brit Tom Hardy, whose credits include Black Hawk Down and Band of Brothers, to play opposite Theron. Timeless 50 – Vote for Your Favourite TV Series

20 October 2009 8:10 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Here’s a post that will hopefully spark a great discussion. Volkswagen and LoveFilm have joined forces to create a poll in which you can vote for your favourite TV series of all time. There are 50 to choose from and they can all be accessed here.

By registering in the competition, you will be entered into their prize draw for a fabulous dinner and overnight stay at Le Manoir Oxfordshire, as well as a £500 shopping spree at Selfridges. There’s also runner-up prizes too.

The issue I have with the list is that neither Battlestar Galactica nor Band of Brothers made it to their list of top 50 TV shows. This is, in my opinion, a travesty! Anyway, head over to their website and vote for your number one. Then come back here and let us know which TV series you would have liked to have seen in the top 50.

Director Roland Emmerich Talks Adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy as well as His Movie About William Shakespeare?!

9 October 2009 11:09 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

I’m currently in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where I just got out of the press conference for Roland Emmerich’s upcoming disaster flick “2012″ during which he spoke about two of his upcoming projects.  One is his plan to adapt Isaac Asimov’s “Foundation” which we first heard about in January of this year.

But the other film and the one he plans to start shooting this March came as a major shock to me because the movie is about William Shakespeare.  For those that don’t know Emmerich also directed “Independence Day” and “The Day After Tomorrow” so this is a major shift for him.  The film is called “Anonymous” and he planned to make the movie back in 2005 under the name “Soul of the Age”.  This new script is by John Orloff (”Band of Brothers”, “A Mighty Heart”) and Emmerich says it’s his next movie. Hit the jump for details on both films. »
