Sunday Night Football boosted NBC's Sunday night ratings to winning levels as usual, with the Patriots-Colts matchup on par with last week with 19.1 million viewers, according to early Nielsen estimates. Football juiced Fox as well, with late afternoon football running over into primetime and bumping The Cleveland Show up by 11 percent, Family Guy by 8 percent, and American Dad by 33 percent (after special its early-evening scheduling last week). CBS continues to fade on Sundays with Cold Case losing more than a quarter of its audience from the same week last year; though it was up 1 million from last week, the Eye »

Last night on Family Guy, Quagmire discovered that all his sexual exploits finally had repercussions when he learns he has a baby girl that gets dropped off on his doorstep during "Quagmire's Baby." We're actually quite shocked Family Guy never went with this plotline before.
Quagmire actually steps it up and names the girl Ana Lee and attempts to raise her on his own, until she gets in the way of him getting laid. That's when he puts the girl up for adoption.
Meanwhile Stewie created clones for Brian and himself. All in all it was a mediocre episode that had some decent Family Guy quotes. Here's some of our favorites:
Stewie: Hey will you take me down to Baby Gap? I want to dress like a small douche. | permalink Stewie: It's healthier than what they ate in the fifties...
Customer: Steak and donut sandwich please.
Waiter: You want cigarettes on that sandwich. »

After taking off the last month for the World Series and the Family Guy live-action special, The Simpsons returned last night with its episode, "The Devil Wears Nada," which was meant to coincide with Marge Simpson's Playboy spread.
During the episode, Marge posed for a calendar and ended up in much more provactive pictures than she thought. However, the photos got her all the attention from the town, but none from Homer.
That's because Homer was busy following Carl around as his new assistant. All in all it made for some great Simpsons quotes. Here are some of our favorites from the episode:
Lenny: I'm gonna miss Ted, he was a good supervisor
Carl: Definitely hands off. He didn't mind if we punched out late
Homer: And he didn't mind that we made a few changes to the soda machine...mmm... beer | permalink Bart: Stop dragging me! When I get »

On the 13th November 2009, almost 32 years after the legendary Star Wars film was first released in the UK on 27th December 1977, A good friend (who shall remain anonymous) came to my house to watch the Original Holy Trilogy: A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi for the first ever time.
He is the same age as me (31) and I’m sure he watched the same TV channels as me at Christmas in the 80’s and 90’s when Star Wars was played religiously each year and families crowded round the TV to watch them as they became a part of tradition.
He must have heard about Star Wars in the 80’s but for some reason he never sat down and watched them or even played with the Star Wars toys, which were probably found in almost every home back then.
I know some of his friends and »

Oscar winner Marlee Matlin has given the brains behind irreverent U.S. cartoon series Family Guy the Ok to make fun of her hearing disability - because it's humorous.
The deaf star has been the brunt of cruel gags on the comedy series and now she's come forward insisting she has no problems with writer/creator Seth MacFarlane's politically incorrect barbs - and she urges others to find humour in the jokes.
Matlin even appeared on MacFarlane's recent U.S. TV variety show, Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show, to prove she has no problems with the TV mogul's off-colour humour.
She walked onstage during a skit in which MacFarlane's sidekick Alex Borstein was impersonating the actress singing Lady GaGa's Poker Face and pretended to be furious. After berating the comedienne and poking fun at her, Matlin gave Borstein the finger, screamed "F**k off" and stormed off.
An she says she has no problems with Family Guy's mockery: "It was sick. It was twisted. It was rude. But the day we censor humour is a sad one, for sure. All I gotta say is, 'Lighten up, people!'"
The Children of a Lesser God star admits she has no idea what's being said when the characters on the show poke fun at her - because "I can't read their lips." »

To round off this Friday nice and easy, I thought I’d post a little something to get you laughing (or hopefully at least chuckling). Family Guy has become a household name at this point, but the show managed to out do itself back in 2007 with its season 6 premiere, “Blue Harvest”, an hour-long parody of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
Well, today we have the trailer for Family Guy’s follow up to “Blue Harvest”, which could only be an equally hilarious skewering of the next film in the Star Wars canon, The Empire Strikes Back.
With “Blue Harvest” the Family Guy team lampooned pretty much everything you could ever want to make fun of in a Star Wars movie, and earned extra points for inserting all our favorite characters from Quahog into ironic (and gross) Star Wars roles. [Nerd Alert] “Blue Harvest” was the fake working title used during »

Fox's Family Guy special pulled in 6.63m viewers on Sunday night, according to the latest viewing figures. The show, which aired at 8.30pm, failed to beat the network's regular Family Guy screenings, which logged 7.38m and 7.27m at 8pm and 9pm respectively. At 9.30pm, 6.28m tuned in for The Cleveland Show. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Desperate Housewives took 10.44m and 13.33m (more) »

Have you stopped laughing yet from last week's Family Guy?
The episode poked fun at Miley Cyrus, featuring the singer as a Disney-programmed robot that went crazy and blew up the town. These things sometimes happen in Quahog.
Cyrus, of course, didn't voice the character herself. That honor fell to Candace Marie, a rising singer that has landed a recurring role on the hilarious sitcom.
What part will she play? And how does she feel about voicing Miley? We asked Marie these questions in an exclusive interview with the gorgeous star...
TV Fanatic: How did the role on Family Guy come about?
Marie: The producer I was working with for my album (Becoming a Real Girl), John Paterno, told me about the audition opportunity. I went in for it and got a call from the casting director, Linda LeMontane, a month later.
TV Fanatic: Any fear of upsetting Miley Cyrus fans? »

I'll say right off the bat that I didn't watch Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Variety Show, which aired this past Sunday. But I've been hearing about it for days, because my 15-year-old son is a huge fan of Family Guy.
I'm not sure what chip I'm missing that I don't find Family Guy as fascinating and hilariously funny as some. Reading some of the Twitter updates after a show airs, it's clear that some folks think it's the funniest thing they've ever seen. Then again, my son usually regales me with all the cool stuff he sees in TV shows, but didn't mention much about the Live Variety Show, so maybe it wasn't that great.
Jason had this to say about it: "Really, it was about the least funny or entertaining variety show I've ever seen. Going into this, I was going to suggest that maybe Fox »

It's a sporty kinda time out there in TV land, as evidenced by the top two shows on the broadcast networks for the week ending Nov. 8. Fox scored a home run with the final game in the World Series, which saw the New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies. The game drew 22.3 million viewers on Wednesday night to take the No. 1 position. NBC's perennially high-performing Sunday Night Football franchise—serving up a showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles—followed right after that in the No. 2 spot with 21.9 million viewers. The highest-rated non-sporting event for the week—and the No. »

Fox pushed the boundaries of their Seth MacFarlane-filled Sundays about as far as they could. It wasn't enough to have three animated series already in the lineup, but they had to give him his own "variety show" as well. They bumped The Simpsons to make room for a two-hour block of Seth madness!
But that's not all! If you watch new episodes of American Dad, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show And the all-new Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show, we'll throw in a bonus episode of Family Guy absolutely free! The real question is... was America really ready for that much Seth?
I thought I was.

Last night, Marlee Matlin appeared in a Family Guy Presents Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show sketch (see video after jump) that played her speaking voice for laughs. In an interview conducted via email with EW, the hearing-impaired actress explained why she participated in the skit -- and how it ties in to a new cable series she's developing. Entertainment Weekly: How did you become involved with this special? Marlee Matlin: I had been in touch with Seth MacFarlane's office to ask him to let me use my own voice in the segments where they had a cartoon character based on me. »

Last night Fox aired Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show, and they're getting a little heat about it today. They re-enacted a scene from a Family Guy episode that made fun of deaf actress Marlee Matlin. Then they took it a step further and had Alex Borstein imitate Matlin singing a pop song. No worries though, since Matlin was there to defend herself.
Me? I thought it was funny.

Some comedians might use their talk show premiere to safety belt their audience into an eco-friendly car, lull them to sleep with unoffensive political jokes and airy A-list interviews, and then gently push the Ford-skinned Prius into the John D. Long Lake, killing all ratings in a confusing act of self-sabotage. Not Wanda Sykes, who jolted Fox's Family Guy viewer base awake during her bumpy Saturday night premiere with Ann Coulter jabs, drag queens, Mary Lynn Rajskub martinis and a four-minute pre-taped sketch on recycling sex toys. »

I can't claim that Seth MacFarlane didn't follow Movieline's variety show rules last night (I didn't notice Geri Reischl, for starters), but Family Guy Presents Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Hour, veered deep into a stinky safe-zone by stealing sketch set-ups from Jay Leno's mothball-suffocated closet of conceits. Let's start with the hardest-hitting wit: There aren't many Jewish comediennes because of -- hear me out -- the Holocaust. I'll slap everyone's knees in this whole room, and their Jewish mothers! Then MacFarlane and Family Guy voice actress Alex Borstein act out imagined screen-tests for Bea Arthur, Kathy Griffin, and Gregory Peck -- just a couple of cards, these two. Guys, this sucked. Clip of the antics after the jump. »

On the second of two new episodes of Family Guy during last night's live action special, Miley Cyrus came to Quahog and Stewie was willing to do whatever it took to see her.
While the episode, "Hannah Banana," didn't actually feature Miley Cyrus doing the voice (it was Candace Marie), they definitely has some fun at the teen star's expense.
Family Guy made Cyrus out to be an android created by the Disney corporation that eventually went on a rampage against the city. Not so different from the real Miley.
Meanwhile, Chris tried to prove to the family once and for all that the evil monkey in his closet was real. Turns out the monkey was real... but not so evil. He actually helped contribute many of the great Family Guy quotes from the half hour. Just check out some of our favorites:

Fox was back to earthly ratings levels in its first post-baseball Sunday evening with relocated-from-Friday fall sitcom bomb Brothers and American Dad, which, without its regular Family Guy lead-in, was down 2.2 million viewers from its last original airing, according to early Nielsen estimates. A Family Guy special, Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show, came in 1.2 million viewers below Family Guy's most recent episode and just a bit lower than the two originals it was sandwiched between this week. NBC easily won the night with, of course, sports - Sunday Night Football's Cowboys-Eagles matchup scored 19 million viewers, up almost 50 percent »
