Many people have said this to be original. I'm not sure if it's original. I think it's more like a film goulash. If you mix "Very Bad Things," "The Trouble with Harry," "The Usual Suspects" & unfold the story like a Tarantino film, and you would might come out with "Stranger Than Fiction." This is filled with lots of characters we've all seen before. The naive friend. The stronger "I can kick you butt" female friend. The whiny law student friend. And last but not least, the I'm really to smart to be hanging out with these people friend. The four lead actors are great in their roles. The direction is good. But the script is the downfall of "Stranger than Fiction." The first half of the film is a really funny dark, morbid comedy. I really starting to enjoy the movie. And then up comes the second act. It drops all comedy and turns into a mystery/thriller. And then for the next 45 minutes we seem to get a new plot twist once every 5 minutes or less. Some are good, others I've seen before. And one is just reaching a little out from the grasp reality. Overall it's a good movie. It's a real good straight to video release. You get to see a great cast, and laugh (for at least the first half). 6 out of 10.
