- As WWII approaches, special agent Jim Pearson is assigned to investigate US industrialist's ties to the occult German pro-Nazi Thule Society. This leads to Jim's perilous decades-long search for the apocalyptic Black Dahlia gemstone.
- This is a full motion video, point and click, dark fantasy crime adventure game inspired by two infamous real life 1940s murder mysteries, the Cleveland Torso Murderer and the murder of actress Elizabeth Short, as well as the real life occult Nazi Thule society. The gameplay is the same as in Ripper (1996), the developer's previous game, where lengthy interactive film-like FMV clips with real life actors tell the story between short puzzle solving segments. The game follows Jim Pearson, a dedicated young FBI agent who, in 1941, joins the agency's newly formed C.O.I. unit, tasked to investigate potential Nazi threats to the U.S. as WWII rages on in Europe. His first assignment is to investigate an American industrialist of German descent, who was contacted by the pro-Nazi Thule Society. While trying to infiltrate the Society, Jim starts suffering from strange and disturbing visions involving an old man who may or may not be the infamous Cleveland Torso Killer, so he contacts his predecessor on the case, retired FBI agent Walter Pensky ( Dennis Hopper in an extended cameo), who was removed from the case and sent to a sanitarium after getting too close to the truth. Jim is also contacted by a medium, Madame Cassandra (Teri Garr in an extended cameo), who helps Jim explore the dreamworld. After getting no real help from his FBI boss, William Sullivan, his FBI colleague, Dick Winslow, or the police, Jim eventually manages to find some answers on his own, but the U.S. entry into WWII prevents him from completing his investigation. After the war, Jim becomes a Nazi hunter for the Nuremberg war crime tribunal and uses his position to hunt for the Black Dahlia, a fictional magical gemstone from Norse mythology that can control dreams. However, Jim is once again thwarted in his pursuit by both the skeptical police and the surviving Nazis. Eventually, Jim's investigation takes him to Hollywood, where he meets actress Elizabeth Short as well as Alice Casey, a young aspiring actress who fancies him and decides to help him track down the gem. Depending on the player's final choice, the game has two endings, a bad one and a less bad one.
