After Buckingham Palace revealed the shocking news that King Charles III has cancer, his youngest son Prince Harry flew to London to see his father. His wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, did not fly in with him.
Harry reportedly chatted with his father for about 30 minutes at the king’s Clarence House residence. Just over 24 hours after his arrival in the U.K., the prince was at the Heathrow Airport to return to Montecito. The quick turnaround has a royal author convinced that Meghan didn’t want Harry and the king’s reunion to last long.

Local news is still an incredibly important facet of TV for many viewers. A recent survey found 45% of cable users said live news or sports programming was the top reason they still preferred using that method to watch TV, and if streaming ever wants to fully replace cable, it will need to offer a robust lineup of live news.
That’s why the latest announcement from CBS and the free local news streaming platform Local Now is so important. On Wednesday, the two sides revealed a new agreement that will send 14 locally-themed CBS News stations to the service for free. Along with these news channels, Local Now is getting CBS Sports’ free soccer channel Golazo Network, a channel dedicated to the syndicated newsmagazine “Inside Edition,” and the lifestyle network Dabl.

CBS Media Ventures President Steve LoCascio is retiring after 34 years at the company and its previous iterations as the division will become part of the portfolio of Wendy McMahon, named this morning as President and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures.
The consolidation is not surprising. LoCascio’s departure comes amid a seismic changes in the syndication business marked by a major contraction in first-run syndication, primarily in the talk shoe arena. CBS Media Ventures and CBS TV Distribution’s top shows, Judge Judy, Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray, all ended their long runs in the last few years. Judge Judy has charted a new path, with its reruns remaining a ratings leader.
CBS Media Ventures’ roster includes legacy series Jeopardy!, Wheel Of Fortune, Entertainment Tonight as well as newer entries Hot Bench and The Drew Barrymore Show.

Joseph Fiennes wants to take back ever having played the King of Pop — even if the episode never saw the light of day.
In a new interview with The Observer, Fiennes expressed regret about the time he played Michael Jackson in a pulled episode of the Sky Arts’ anthology series “Urban Myths” in 2017. A trailer for the episode at the time stirred accusations of whitewashing, with backlash to white actor Fiennes playing the Black singer. The episode centered on a road trip after September 11 in which Fiennes’ Jackson is joined by Brian Cox as Marlon Brando and Stockard Channing as Elizabeth Taylor.
“I think people are absolutely right to be upset,” Fiennes told The Observer. “And it was a wrong decision. Absolutely. And I’m one part of that — there are producers, broadcasters, writers, directors, all involved in these decisions. But obviously if I’m upfront, I have become the voice for other people.

Longtime WME partner Sean Perry is preparing to exit the agency after 25 years to launch a production company, 2500 Media.
Perry’s banner will focus on unscripted series as well as documentaries and some scripted projects. Perry has quietly been working with WME leaders on the transition for several months. He will also stay close to his longtime colleagues, albeit as a client, as WME will represent 2500 Media.

Editor’s note: This review was originally published at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Netflix releases the film in select theaters on Friday, November 17, with a streaming release to follow on Friday, December 1.
A heartbreakingly sincere piece of high camp that teases real human drama from the stuff of tabloid sensationalism, Todd Haynes’ delicious “May December” continues the director’s tradition of making films that rely upon the self-awareness that seems to elude their characters — especially the ones played by Julianne Moore.
Here, the actress reteams with her “Safe” director to play Gracie Atherton-Yoo, who became a household name back in 1992 when she left her ex-husband for her 13-year-old fellow pet shop employee. Now it’s 2015, the situation has normalized somewhat, and Gracie and Joe (a dad bod Charles Melton) have been together long enough that their youngest children are about to graduate high school. ABC’s legendary sudser “General Hospital” is looking to defend its crown at the Daytime Emmys, landing 19 nominations this year — the most of any program — as the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced contenders for the landmark 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Last year, “General Hospital” was the big winner with five awards — including best daytime drama — as the telecast returned to a live, in-person event. This time out, NATAS first revealed multiple categories Tuesday night via various entertainment shows, and it looked like CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” — also in the middle of its 50th anniversary celebration — had taken an early lead.
But after all was tallied, CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” was actually next in line, with 14 nods, followed by “The Young and the Restless” (13), NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” (11) and the most-honored non-serial, the syndicated “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” also with 11.

Sherri Shepherd welcomed “Inside Edition” host Deborah Norville to Wednesday’s edition of her daytime talk show.
During their conversation, Norville discussed the time she spent a week in jail as an experiment for “Inside Edition”.
“It was so eye-opening,” said Norville of her week behind bars. “There were two moments that were pleasurable for me. I was locked up on Valentine’s Day. They gave me a piece of chocolate cake with white frosting on it. And by day four … I took a shower. And that was nice. Every other moment was uncomfortable, frightening, bewildering, not pleasant.”

The typical evening-news program give viewers all the news they need to know in less than 30 minutes. John Dickerson’s take on the format aims to unpack the headlines of the day and offer something most news programs don’t — perspective.
Dickerson will lead CBS News’ step into an emerging frontier, an evening-news program that doesn’t air on a TV network, but streams instead, presumably for a younger, more tech-savvy audience. “CBS News Prime Time With John Dickerson,” a new hour-long program, debuts tonight at 7 p.m. eastern on CBS News’ streaming outlets, and will appear live Monday through Thursday. The goal is for Dickerson, a former host of “Face The Nation” and a longtime political journalist and analyst, to provide insight and historical context around the events of the day so viewers gain a deeper understanding of the news cycle.

As the leaked Supreme Court draft decision continues to dominate the news cycle, Trevor Noah criticized the media on Wednesday for focusing more on the details of the leak than on the consequences of overturning Roe v. Wade.
“Many people are horrified — not that women and half the country would lose their rights over their own bodies, but rather that this information got leaked, which is weird. It’s like running around the deck of the Titanic trying to figure out who yelled, ‘We’re sinking’ instead of focusing on the iceberg,” he said during “The Daily Show.”
He added, “Chief Justice John Roberts has announced an immediate investigation to identify the leaker. Cable news doesn’t have time to wait around, so everyone knows who really did it.”
The show then ran clips of several of the major news programs, including Inside Edition and Fox News, as the hosts...

Exclusive: The documentary film team at Netflix might be popping champagne corks together right about now, if Covid didn’t inhibit the whole in-person office scenario. They’ve got a lot to celebrate.
For the third week in a row, The Tinder Swindler – the true-life story of a serial fraudster and the women he ensnared – has claimed the top spot on the Netflix list of its most popular films worldwide. It’s the first documentary to achieve that distinction. Not only that, another documentary cracked the Netflix top 10 this week, Rory Kennedy’s chilling expose Downfall: The Case Against Boeing.
“It’s incredible for our filmmakers, our documentarians,” Lisa Nishimura, Netflix’s VP Documentary and Independent Film, tells Deadline in an exclusive interview. “To be in a place where we have two of our films and two of our filmmakers in the top 10 of film — not just documentary film but...

The supposed Tinder Swindler still hopes you’ll swipe right.
Despite being banned from dating apps, Shimon Hayut — who goes by Simon Leviev on social media — is looking to clear his name following the Netflix documentary “The Tinder Swindler.” According to the film, three women — Cecilie Fjellhøy, Pernilla Sjoholm, and Ayleen Charlotte — believed Hayut to be Simon Leviev, the son of Israeli diamond tycoon Lev Leviev. His alleged victims, which extend beyond just those seen in the film, reportedly gave Hayut an estimated $10 million between 2018 and 2019.
Now, Hayut is telling his side of the story during an “Inside Edition” interview.
“I’m not this monster,” Hayut said. “I was just a single guy that wanted to meet some girls on Tinder.”
Hayut continued, “[These women] weren’t conned and they weren’t threatened…I want to clear my name, I want to say to the world, this is not true.”

Sippin’ on Globes and juice, Snoop Dogg was the surprise presence at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s early morning Golden Globes announcement on Monday. Entering a subdued Beverly Hilton ballroom, Snoop and HFPA president Helen Hoehne announced this year’s nominations a bit like it was business as usual.
But it was clearly not. Many of the TV outlets that normally would have sent camera crews didn’t: No “Entertainment Tonight,” “Access Hollywood” or any of the morning news shows. Among local L.A. stations, only Knbc had a crew in place.
“I’ve covered this event for almost 30 years, and I didn’t quite know what to expect,” said “Inside Edition” chief correspondent Jim Moret. “But this is less than what I expected. Even though the event is streaming, I still expected to see some network coverage, some local news coverage. I suspect that they’re just taking the streaming.

Netflix's new docuseries The Sons of Sam: A Descent Into Darkness takes on the infamous case of David Berkowitz, the 24-year-old postal worker from Yonkers, NY, who was convicted for killing six people between 1976 and 1977. The true-crime series focuses primarily on the records and investigations of journalist Maury Terry as he pushed against the single-shooter narrative that the police and media presented. While the NYPD stuck to the story that Berkowitz committed his crimes alone, Terry believed that Berkowitz had other accomplices and was part of a more widespread satanic cult. In interviews, Berkowitz even confirmed some of Terry's theories.
But just who was David Berkowitz, and what were his crimes? Before you delve into The Sons of Sam, here's what you need to know about Berkowitz and his infamous "Son of Sam" case.

Lara Trump, the Trump family member whose representation of her famous father-in-law helped her gain traction in conservative circles, has joined Fox News Channel as a contributor.
“I sort of feel like I’ve been an unofficial member of the team for so long,” Trump said on “Fox & Friends” Monday morning. “You guys know, it was kind of a joke over the past five years, I would come there so often that the security guards were like ‘Maybe we should just give you a key.'”
Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law, acknowledged she was mulling a run for the U.S. Senate in North Carolina should Senator Richard Burr vacate the seat. “Fox has been very generous with me,” she told host Steve Doocy. “They have said, ‘Look, if that’s something that you ultimately decide to do,’ they’re going to work with me on that front and...

The Lifetime network is hitting a major milestone with their series of original movies “ripped from the headlines”: This year, the network celebrates its 400th “Ripped From the Headlines” feature with the one-two punch of “The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice” and “Girl in the Basement.”
Deborah Norville, reporter and executive producer for “The Long Island Serial Killer,” said during the network’s Ctam Winter 2021 Press Tour that the stories they are telling are ones she covered as an anchor or reporter with “Inside Edition.” She was frustrated covering them on the air because of the lack of time available to delve into the cases. “We [were] just not able to get to the nuance,” she said. “Their lives have been upended in the most horrific…way. We don’t get the opportunity to tell the stories fully and completely [in news].” When she and Lifetime started conversing...
