Since Wednesday night's unveiling of the 2010 Grammy Awards nominations, most of the conversations have been about the three-way dance between Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Beyonceé, the trio of women who lead the way in the most important categories (those being Song, Record and Album of the Year). But there are plenty of other competitions that provide intriguing showdowns between artists. Here are the four that we will be talking about until the show, which will air live on January 31, 2010.
Best Rap Solo Performance: This category pits two heavy hitters (Jay-z and Eminem) against two newcomers (Drake and Kid Cudi) and a dark horse on the comeback (Mos Def). Though Jay-z may seem like the favorite, the true head-to-head in this category is between Slim Shady and Drake. It's the new kid on the block versus an able veteran, and they both showed up on one of the best

Next Tuesday, Snoop Dogg will unleash his latest studio effort when Malice N Wonderland hits the streets. Marking his return to Priority Records, Malice is Snoop's first album of all-original material since 2008's Ego Trippin, and is a return to some familiar territory, steeped within a story-driven concept. No stranger to genre fare with Bones and Snoop Dogg's Hood Of Horror to his credit, the new album finds the rapper taking on the role of Malice, which Rolling Stone describes as a "Batman-with-corn rows character who attempts to reassemble his old crew of troublemakers to help overthrow the dictator of Wonderland". Fangoria Musick has the trailer for the "mini movie" (set for a 2010 release) below, along with the first music video "I Want to Rock."
The entire Malice N Wonderland album is now up for streaming on Snoop's MySpace page, and you can pre-order the album by clicking here.

Snoop Dogg Unleashes "Malice" Trailer

Hip-Hop legend & multimedia mogul Snoop Dogg revealed the trailer to his upcoming short film, the urban fantasy-thriller Malice N Wonderland (tied to the soon-to-drop CD of the same name), on Rolling Stone's official site this week, and if the footage on display is any indication, we're in for a sexed-up bloodbath with some top-drawer talent, including Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx. Dig below the fold to find out more about the film and the album...
From the look of the trailer it seems the Doggfather is treading similar ground to his 2001 supernatural revenge thriller Bones, playing what Rolling Stone describes as "Batman-with-corn-rows" superhero (though apparently not a ghost this time) in the title role as a

Celebrate 'Where The Wild Things Are' With Five Misunderstood Comic Book Monsters

At long last, the wild rumpus can start now that Spike Jonze's "Where The Wild Things Are" is hitting movie theaters this weekend. Adapted from the beloved Maurice Sendak children's novel, "Wild Things" focuses on young Max, an imaginative boy that travels to a far land filled with menacing looking monsters—but at their core, these creatures are a lot friendlier than their gruff exteriors would have you believe.
In comic books, there is no shortage of similar characters that are ugly on the outside but beautiful on the inside—or, at the very least, characters that are misunderstood simply because of their appearance.
As a testament to this, here's a list of five of the most misinterpreted monsters in the comic book world.
Bartleby The Rat Creature ("Bone"): There are plenty of interesting looking creatures in the world of Jeff Smith's "Bone," not the least of

Welcome to another edition of TV or Not TV where I fear I may be getting TV’d out.
If you are a regular reader of this column you may think that I live the care free lifestyle of a professional columnist who has the luxury of sitting around all day with an array of DVR’s that allow me to watch every show aired. Perhaps you see me at 400 plus pounds and smothering my couch or favorite recliner as I do this. Thankfully all of the above couldn’t be further than the truth.
I’m a guy just like anyone else. I have your standard 8 to 5 that I have to commute to and give up another two hours of my life doing so. When it finally comes time to be able to sit down and watch the latest and greatest offering the boob tube has to share I

DVD Review: ‘Fear Itself’ Has a Few Highlights, But More Lowlights

Chicago – I am an unabashed junkie of anthology horror shows and will gladly debate with you why “The Twilight Zone” is the best show of all time before we get to discussing “The Outer Limits,” “Amazing Stories,” and “Tales From the Crypt.” Naturally, I was a big fan of Showtime’s “Masters of Horror” and was intrigued when a lot of that series’ major players jumped to NBC for “Fear Itself”. The show was a ratings failure and got very little buzz and the first season DVD makes it clear why. Even for an anthology show fan, this is a tough sell.
DVD Rating: 2.0/5.0
“Fear Itself” features thirteen episodes that aired on NBC during the summer of 2008. Like “Masters of Horror” (both shows were produced by the legendary Mick Garris), each episode was directed by a different horror writer and director. And like “Moh” the quality jumps wildly from episode

When a TV series whose broadcast run got nipped in the bud re-emerges on DVD in its entirety, the hope is always that it will allow for the discovery of buried treasures. This is particularly so in the case of Fear Itself, since each of its 13 episodes was helmed by a different director, and only eight got aired before NBC quietly dropped it from the schedule in summer 2008.
Lionsgate’s new four-disc set, however, reveals that Fear Itself’s best stuff actually did make it to the tube the first time around, most notably the contributions by genre faves Stuart Gordon and Larry Fessenden. You can check out our previous reviews of the original eight via these links:

Fangoria Musick just recieved the full details on the next effort from Powerman 5000, fronted by certified horror fiend Spider, aka Spider One.
Check out the full details and track listing below, along with a video trailer for the new album, which will hit retail on October 6th!
Futuristic metallists Powerman 5000 have been plotting their next move for the past few years, and their latest step towards a global takeover is upon us, in the form of Somewhere On The Other Side Of Nowhere. The album will drop from the solar system on October 6th (via Mighty Loud!/Fontana), and as judged by such song titles as “Super Villain,” “V is for Vampire,” “Horror Show,” and “Get your Bones,” ‘Somewhere on the Other Side of Nowhere’ is bound to be another gnarly slice of PM5K.
"We made this record with a clear vision and a purpose,” explains frontman,
