Ashley Michelle Tisdale was born on July 2, 1985, to mom Lisa and dad Michael, who raised her in Ocean Township, New Jersey. It was at a New Jersey mall that Tisdale, just three years old, met a manager who helped her land dozens of television commercials and put her on the fast track to becoming an actress, singer, producer, and longtime Disney Channel starlet. By age eight, Tisdale had acted in local theatrical productions, including Gypsy and The Sound of Music, as well as the Broadway show Les Miserables, in which she played Cosette. Roles on television soon followed, with guest spots on The Hughleys (TV), 7th Heaven (TV), The Amanda Show (TV), Boston Public (TV), Bette (TV), Charmed (TV) and Still Standing (TV), and early film work included A Bug's Life (1998) and Donnie Darko (2001).
