For those of us who weren’t lucky enough to attend a Beatles concert in the 1960s, Ron Howard’s Eight Days a Week just might be the next best thing. The 2016 documentary traces the band’s rise from a cramped and dank cellar in Liverpool to record breaking television appearances, jam packed stadiums, and—ultimately—rock immortality. Lovingly assembled through rare and often unseen fan home movie footage, Howard’s film also draws on more familiar material—restored to the highest echelons of HD— and new interviews with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. All told, it’s a joyous...

On the night of September 11, 2001, artists Paul Myoda and Julian Laverdiere watched from Brooklyn as an ashy and gaseous cloud formed over the remnants of the World Trade Center. The lights that illuminated Ground Zero during rescue efforts set this plume of smoke aglow, and through it, both men felt they could still see the buildings. This mirage gave them an idea, which they eventually turned into “Tribute in Light,” an ephemeral memorial that has served as a vigil for victims on the anniversary of the attacks every year since.

Warning: This post contains spoilers from Outlander‘s Season 3 premiere.
One very important character literally comes to life in Outlander‘s Season 3 premiere, while two others blink out of existence thanks to the Battle of Culloden and its bloody, near*-merciless aftermath.
The Starz drama’s return quickly makes it clear: We’re not just treading water until Mr. and Mrs. Fraser reunite. Both Claire and Jamie’s stories are compelling on their own (though for what it’s worth, I find his a little more interesting — how can housewife ennui compete with a last-minute stay of execution?!), and having...

The typical call for hurricane relief donations often lists nonperishable items such as canned goods, crackers and peanut butter. But in the small town of Perry, Georgia, requests are going out for simple barbecue favorites like Boston butts to help feed Hurricane Irma evacuees.
“Well, we are Southern,” local resident Jessica Gaston tells People with a laugh. Gaston and friend Kimberly Chancy have set up shop to feed hundreds of Irma evacuees that are pouring through Perry — and their focusing on delicious (and economical) Southern staples.
“When you’ve got access to those huge smokers, you can cook eight to 10 Boston butts at one time,...

The neighbor of the North Carolina aspiring pastor accused of fatally stabbing his wife overnight before calling 911 and saying he took too much cold medicine tells People he’s shocked at the allegations.

Despite early reports, Peter Kraus is not our next Bachelor.
Instead, Arie Luyendyk Jr. has been named The Bachelor‘s next leading man — and the night before the televised reveal, Kraus tweeted, “Never let fear hold you back. Lesson learned.”
Many on social media are disappointed that the Wisconsin native won’t look for love again on TV. But a source close to production previously told People that fan favorite Kraus was “never” the network’s first choice given that he wasn’t comfortable with the premise that lies at the very core of the ABC reality show: that it...

Like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich laced with too many prescription drugs, Suburbicon might look, sound, and perhaps even taste a little like a Joel and Ethan Coen picture because, in a sense, it is. The Minnesota brothers penned the script for this deliciously cruel and acerbically funny 1960s suburban nightmare years ago — something of a surprise given the story’s fixation on building walls and having other people pay for them — before being picked up and brought to life, in all its glory, by George Clooney.
In a turn of events worth noting, the film’s publicity (surely amongst the year’s most misleading) hinted that Suburbicon would be something derivative of those brothers’ more slapstick-leaning ensemble outings (Burn After Reading, Hail, Caesar!, etc.) but — much to the director’s credit, it must be said — it is, in both content and tone, a far more somber beast.

Princess Diana’s tragic death in a Paris car crash on August 31, 1997 shocked the world. It would become one of the biggest news events of the 20th century – and the only time People has ever featured a photo-only cover with no headline. Here is that cover story in its entirety.
To her ex-husband, Prince Charles – as well as the rest of the world – the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, was an unimaginable shock. On Sept. 1, the day after Diana, 36, and her companion Dodi Al Fayed, 42, died in a cataclysmic car crash in Paris, the distraught Charles walked the hills surrounding Balmoral,...

The late Jay Thomas is going to be remembered for a great many things. Children of the 1980s will always see him as Carla's husband Eddie LeBec husband on Cheers. People that came of age just a bit later will remember him as kindly gym teacher Bill Meister in Mr. Holland's Opus, while millennials will always associate him with the Easter Bunny from The Santa Clause 2 and The Santa Clause 3. He was also a disc jockey in the 1970s and a SiriusXM host over the past decade.

Chris Brown details the night he was arrested for physically assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 for his new documentary.
Brown, 28, reveals in Chris Brown: Welcome To My Life that he was 15 when he met the 29-year-old Barbadian singer, then age 16, at a 2004 show in New York City. The two quickly developed a connection and fell in love, but their relationship took a turn after Brown told Rihanna that he had slept with someone else prior to their relationship — something he had previously denied to the “We Found Love” singer.
“My trust totally was lost with her,” Brown said. “She hated me after that.

On Saturday, August 12, writer-director Dee Rees, whose film “Mudbound” (November 17) scored Sundance’s biggest sale to Netflix ($12.5 million), watched television coverage of the white supremacy rally in Charlottesville, Virginia with growing horror. That night, she stayed up late to write her Sundance Next Fest Vanguard Award acceptance speech for the next day, googling, emailing and calling relatives to collect the numbers she needed.

And on Sunday evening, Rees’ Sundance Next Fest speech roused tears and cheers. She counted down the 90 years since the United Artists theatre opened next door, the 47 years since United Artists opened Ossie Davis’s first film, the 204 days since a demagog took office, the 34 hours since white supremacists terrorists openly brawled in the streets with virtual impunity in Charlottesville, continuing our “selectively omitted, pathologically violent history,” 13 years since Rees came out,...

We’ve arrived at the finish line, Bachelor Nation. On Monday’s two-hour season finale, Rachel Lindsay finally got what she’s desired for so long: an engagement — and one sparkly rock on that finger.
Of course, it wasn’t without a few (painful) bumps in the road — namely in the form of her runner-up, with whom she parted ways in one of the most heartbreaking scenes in franchise history.
Spoiler Warning: If you haven’t seen Monday’s season finale of The Bachelorette, heads up that the outcome will be revealed in this article.

We’re nearly halfway through July, but somehow, here at the ole’ multiplex, there’s a distinct chill. No, it’s not somebody tinkering with the thermostat. It could be this new horror flick, perhaps. Although it’s not the good chill as in a memorable “spine-tingler”. No, it’s as if this wannabe’ thriller somehow escaped the dumping ground of mid-January, or a Friday-the-thirteenth weekend, or sometime close to Halloween. It’s squarely aimed at the pre-teen and teen set since it’s got the PG-13 rating, so it’s a bit scary, just not too intense or “gory gross”. And it features a cast from other young adult flicks and TV shows for audience identification. And what’s the added incentive at the top of the poster, the nudge that’ll put behinds in the seats? “From the director of Annabelle”…really. That’s something to boast about?...

Dave talks us through the highs and lows of fulfilling his dream of building a robot to compete in Robot Wars...
I think it is safe to say that I’ve never worked harder at anything in my life than Robot Wars. The show began in 1998 when lightly armoured wheelchairs would push each other about a bit and a 10-year-old me declared to my mother that I wanted to be on the show. “I’m not sure you’re old enough,” came her politely discouraging reply. Fast forward the best part of 20 years and I had taught myself the basics of robot construction, fought my way up through the ranks in the antweight class (tiny 150g machines rarely featured on the show but with a thriving community outside of it) and dabbled in a couple of naff attempts to build one of the big boys in the heavyweight division.

Welcome back, Bachelor Nation. On Monday’s episode, Rachel Lindsay and the six remaining guys flew to Geneva, Switzerland, for the final dates ahead of hometowns.

A rose was up for grabs on each date, which whittled it down to the final four men who would get to bring Rachel home to meet their families.

Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum met back in 2006 while filming Step Up, and despite it being 11 years ago, their love story is definitely one for the books. Channing previously admitted to Elle magazine that he was hesitant at first because he "had just gotten out of a pretty long relationship" and "was in no way ready for another." In fact, he "was trying to run from what I knew Jenna was - not someone I was just going to date. But one of my buddies was like, 'What are you doing, man? She's dope.' That night I showed up at her hotel room with a sombrero on, and that was it . . . we were drinking at a Mexican joint and I stole [the sombrero] off the wall." The pair ended up getting married in the Summer of 2009, welcomed daughter Everly in May 2013, and has been bringing new meaning to the term "couple goals" ever since.
