Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

A woman is shown wearing provocative clothing--she then lifts her skirt to show her underwear and we see bare thigh and nearly bare butt. Later, we see her undress from behind, showing her entire bare back and butt. There is minimal nudity in some of the artwork in the Ninth Gate book. A woman and man have sex and she is shown both from the front and behind, showing bare breasts. We also see a man's naked chest several times.

Violence & Gore

We see minimal details of a man hanging himself at the beginning of the movie. A man is killed and hung from a wall--minimal shown again. A man shown who was drowned in a pool. A woman who was strangled is shown, more graphic than other dead bodies (would greatly frighten children). A woman is choked to death and a man burns alive, shown screaming and writhing and is then shot with a gun.

Profanity

Some minimal profanity throughout.

Repeated allusions to heavy nicotine and alcohol consumption.

The movie involves the attempt to incarnate the prince of darkness. There are frightening and intense scenes throughout.
