end of the sordid suburbs

Warning: Spoilers
"La Ville Bidon" is the sordid story of the last days of a shanty town (translate the title "The Town Shanty") with all kind of poor people : junkyards, proletarians, immigrants, ... fighting and insulting themselves, living in mud, and having so poor entertainment (see the weird car races and the freak concert they give at the end). It is an incredible document of french poverty in suburbs with no future. See how promoters earned their fortunes. In addition, an even stronger document from 1955 about unhealthy buildings, a must see and listen.

An interesting french docu drama.

A rare gem from the vaults that is a witness of french way of life, in the suburbs of Paris, more than forty years ago. A fist in the face which describes the poverty, indigence of ostracized, homeless, unemployed people the sharks of politics and building societies push to hopeless life. How these executives manipulate the poor families in order to make more and more money. A film which is also a docu drama and leaves you a taste of disgust in the mouth when you see so much injustice. From time to time, while watching it, you may wish to take a gun and shoot the TV set to kill all those SOBs who promise a better way of life to people whilst they try to survive among the "garbage lands".

Daniel Duval and Bernadette Lafont are convincing at the most. Young rebels not to forget.

Do not miss it.
