Gia (1998) (TV) More at IMDbPro »

  • Anachronisms: Gia and another model are seen riding a 1997 Harley-Davidson Heritage Springer in 1985.

  • Anachronisms: The movie takes place in the early 1980s, yet Gia is shown using a GTE Airfone air-to-ground telephone, which was first introduced in 1985.

  • Continuity: The letter "G" that Gia carves on the receptionist's desk.

  • Continuity: When young Gia writes in her journal, she's right-handed. But older Gia is a lefty.

  • Continuity: As Gia begs Linda not to leave, the first shot from behind shows her fully nude but from the front she can clearly be seen to be wearing underwear.

  • Anachronisms: Gia passes a billboard showing a phone number with the area code 718. Area code 718 was not introduced to New York until 1985.

  • Miscellaneous: When Gia is sitting outside of building before her first photo-shoot, a woman drops a few coins into her coffee cup. But as she rides up the elevator to the shoot, coffee can be seen moving in the cup. And when Philipe asks can he help her, she dumps coins back out onto the floor.

  • Continuity: Early in the movie, Gia is being photographed by the man and woman she met on the street. The woman is first drinking red wine. Moments later, the wine in her glass is white.

  • Continuity: When Gia kicks her mother out of her apartment, she throws her bags all over the hallway. Her mother assembles some bags by the elevator and waits. In the next shot, the bags are rearranged, and her mother is holding some of them, though only a few seconds have passed.

  • Continuity: When T.J. is at the hospital to see Gia, he gets upset and slams a chair down about 3 or 4 times before putting the chair back. When he lets go of the chair, it comes to rest in such a way that you can tell that at least one of the back legs of the chair is broke. The camera cuts away to Gia and when it cuts back to T.J., the chair is back to normal height and position against the wall under the window, just like it was before he smashed it.

  • Factual errors: When "Gia" is at the hospital and firsts learns of her condition, she is asked if she has heard of "acquired immune deficiency syndrome" (AIDS). "Gia" says no, but the real Gia has been quoted saying, "I'm sick, I don't feel good, I don't have anywhere to go ... I think I have AIDS."

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Toward the end of the movie, the last time Gia tries to buy drugs and gets beaten up, the drug dealer calls her Angie.
