TMZ: From Website to TV

16 January 2007 | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

TMZ, the lively gossip website that first reported on Mel Gibson's DUI arrest and subsequent anti-Semitic tirade and posted video of Michael Richards's racial blast at a comedy club, will soon become a syndicated daily television show, Warner Bros. TV announced at the NATPE convention in Las Vegas Monday. The company said that it has already struck a deal for the show to be carried by Fox-owned stations. No host for the show was announced, but the studio indicated that it was unlikely that the website's producer, former attorney Harvey Levin, would take that role, despite his previous experience as host of The People's Court and as the principal on-air legal analyst for CBS during the O.J. Simpson trial. Levin, who also exec produced the syndicated Celebrity Justice, is expected to exec produce TMZ, the television show.
