Interesting snapshot of the "birth" of reality TV. Then, as today, the material was edited to highlight the controversial. However, you still felt as though you were given some insight into the reality of life in Sydney suburbs. Most disturbing was the racism that everyone knows exists, but tries to pretend doesn't.
The family seems to have been chosen to fit the stereotype of Australians of the period. Rowdy, loud, hard drinking, materialistic, etc. Those type of people definitely exist, but I don't think they are the norm. For me, the series is more interesting since it's an early attempt at reality television. Many of the techniques used in this series are still used in today's reality series.
Overall,worth a watch.
