Continuity: When the little girl is kneeling next to her murdered mother, her father puts his arms around her to comfort her. In shots where the camera is behind them, he has his arms around her, in shots when the camera is facing them, his arms are behind her.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When showing Troy's day job as a photocopier machine maintenance man, his shirt is already stained with black ink before he opens the toner box. Presumably, this was from a previous copier and he was unable to change shirts.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When the cow blows up, a bell is repeatedly heard, even though there is no bell around the cow's neck.
Factual errors: Gold bars of that size would be too heavy to carry with the ease shown. Also the luggage would not be able to carry the amount of gold it did.
Factual errors: Barlow's cellphone could not possibly work inside a closet in an underground bunker.
Errors in geography: There are no mountains near Detroit Airport.
Crew or equipment visible: Crew visible in car door when Archie gets in.
Anachronisms: In the bunker full of looted consumer electronics, an Apple AV monitor is visible. These were not manufactured until five or six years after the Gulf War.
Factual errors: When Sgt Barlow calls the US, the "ringback" sound he hears sounds like non-US phone would, but the ring when calling international is of the country you are calling to. Therefore, Barlow would have had a familiar American ring.
Errors in geography: Just after they start driving for the Iranian border, a saguaro cactus can be seen in the background. Saguaros are only found in the Sonoran desert (the Southwestern US and Mexico, where the film was shot.)
Continuity: When Barlow phones his wife, on the whiteboard in the background the details of where Barlow is can be seen before she writes them on the board.
Continuity: When Archie Gates emerges from the white stretch limo at the beginning of the attack on the fort, there is a black convertible already flipped over and smoldering in the background. The black convertible doesn't get blown-up and flipped until a few minutes later.
Continuity: The way "Chief" (Elgin) and Conrad are holding hands changes from shot to shot.
Continuity: When our heroes lead the refugees to the Iranian border, Barlow appears both within the group as they walk, and behind it, sitting in the Humvee.
Factual errors: The credits list Omar 'Freefly' Alhegelan as "Bunker #1 Lieing Iraqi". The word "Lying" is misspelled.
Continuity: When they are in the first "Well" bunker and Barlow runs to get the truck from the gas station he goes up some steps. One of the Iraqi's they took prisoner is tied up on the stairs. A few minutes later when the rest of the guys run upstairs with the gold, the Iraqi is gone.
Crew or equipment visible: When the milk truck enters the town and the Iraqi soldiers fire at it, as it turns, the shadow of the camera truck can be seen momentarily in the foreground
Revealing mistakes: Right after Barlow gets the pressure relief valve installed in his chest, there is a shot of him crying over Conrad's dead body. Conrad is clearly still breathing.
Anachronisms: During the early scene where they have entered the village, when Major Gates has ordered the others to hand out the MREs, they hand out the tan packages. These types of MREs did not come into usage for several years. During this time frame, the MREs were a dark brown.
Factual errors: When the mother is shot in the head, you notice that she preps her arms before she hits the ground. Controlled body movement would not be possible after taking a fatal headshot.
Revealing mistakes: When the milk truck is entering the village and the Iraqi Soldiers blow a hole in the trailer, the first trailer tire "turns" to steer the trailer towards the wall.
Factual errors: During the scene where a cow is killed by a cluster bomb, the cow is sent flying into the air and comes down in pieces. This is not possible with this type of ordinance. Cluster bombs are designed to break up into hundreds of individual "bomb-lets," each with the approximate power of a fragmentation hand grenade, and disperse over a large area. The individual bomb-lets have a few ounces of explosive in them and are designed to cause wound injuries rather than catastrophic destruction. Any explosion powerful enough to lift a cow into the air and tear it apart would also kill the characters who where standing nearby.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Gates asks Walter if he knows who Adriana Cruz is, it cuts to a closer shot of Walter wherein he responds "The reporter on NBS." However, in the wide shot before, he has already mouthed the line.
Crew or equipment visible: When Troy calls his wife to give her his position, you can see the shadow of the cameraman move across his shirt just before she picks up.
Factual errors: On the cars captured from Kuwait in the bunker, they all have Saudi Arabian license plates. Those plates all state S.A. Priv. (Saudi Arabia Private Vehicle) and are white in color. HOWEVER, those plates were used from the 70's until 1982 in Saudi Arabia and were a blue/green color.
