With The CW releasing its primetime schedule for next season on Thursday, what really caught our eye is what shows are not on it.
Veteran scripted series Walker, All American and All American: Homecoming are nowhere to be found on The CW’s fall lineup and aren’t confirmed as coming back at midseason, either, leading us to wonder if they’ll be coming back at all. (All three series have yet to be officially renewed.)

Nexstar is choosing to focus on airing inexpensive acquired programming and unscripted shows in order to make the network profitable. The CW shows depend on ratings more than ever before and have to earn their keep to stay on the air. How many shows will be cancelled or renewed during the 2023-24 season? Stay tuned.

Saudi director and producer Osama Alkhurayji’s debut feature film “Siwar” recently wrapped principal photography in AlUla, the swathe of northwest Saudi Arabia comprising ancient artifacts, a lush oasis and sandstone canyons that’s becoming a burgeoning local film production hub.
“Siwar” involves two families – one Turkish, the other Saudi – whose fates become entangled due to a revelation about their newborns. In the film, AlUla stands in for Najran, the city in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the Yemen border. The drama delves into the dynamics of how the lives of Yaner, a Turkish father played by Serkan Genç (“The Game-Hiyleger Axmaqlar”), and Hamad, a Saudi father played by Fhaid Bin Mohammed, intersect after their sons are swapped at birth.

Young and the Restless (Y&r) spoilers suggest that while Jordan (Colleen Zenk) isn’t dead, she also isn’t exactly a threat to the Newmans anymore (for now). Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) has already started to take steps to move forward with her life, but she does have a long road ahead.
Still, with Jordan a distant memory, will Claire’s new focus be trying to reunite her parents?
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Vole Has Some Subtle Sparks
Y&r spoilers imply that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck) once had a great love affair; however, Vicky’s past antics and immaturity did place a damper on their romance, not to mention Cole’s relationship with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson).
Now that Vic is both older and wiser, could things work out between her and Cole? They have solely focused on helping and supporting their...

Farce has played a significant role in the history of "Frasier," despite the sitcom being renowned for its more sophisticated comedy. Somehow, putting Kelsey Grammer's pompous yet lovable Dr. Crane at the center of some ridiculous hijinks served only to highlight how absurd a figure he could be rather than undermining the otherwise highbrow humor of the series. Farce proved a worthy technique for knocking both Frasier and often his brother, Niles (David Hyde Pierce) off their high horses in particularly hilarious fashion.
It's not surprising, then, that farcical episodes are among the series best, from the famous Ski Lodge episode in season five to the dead seal episode, which was inspired by real events. But it took some time for the series to develop its unique spin on the genre. During the inaugural season of the show, which aired all the way back in 1993, the writers didn't attempt a single farce.

Film historians, critics and cineastes have heralded 1939 as the greatest year for Hollywood films. It was the year that saw the release of such classics as “Gone with the Wind,” “Stagecoach,” “Love Affair,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” “Young Mr. Lincoln” and “Wuthering Heights.” That’s just the tip of the iceberg
But what about Broadway? A case can be made for 1964, which saw the debuts of three musicals that became classics: “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Funny Girl” and “Hello, Dolly!”
Broadway was changing in the 1960s. Oscar Hammerstein II died in 1960; Irving Berlin’s last show was the disappointing 1962 “Mr. President”; and Cole Porter, who died in 1964, hadn’t had a musical on Broadway since the 1950s. Sixty years ago, a group of young talented composers and lyricists were the toast of the Great White Way.

Exclusive: The Crown’s Imelda Staunton will lead a revival of the classic Jerry Herman-Michael Stewart Broadway musical Hello, Dolly! into the Andrew Lloyd Webber-owned London Palladium next summer.
Echoing words in composer and lyricist Herman’s titular number, the show’s producer Michael Harrison observed that “it’s so nice to have Imelda back on stage where she belongs.”
Directed by Dominic Cooke, the production — with Staunton playing matchmaker Dolly Levi — will begin performances at the Palladium on July 6 for a strictly limited 10-week season ending September 14.
The Palladium, designed by Frank Matcham, opened on a site close to Oxford Circus in 1910, the year King Edward VII died. It was to become a favorite venue of the Royal Family, often hosting the annual Royal Variety Show in the presence of the late Queen Elizabeth II, great-granddaughter of Edward VII.

So many great stories in history start out with the key players hating each other — as it is in Netflix and A24’s “Beef,” streaming on Netflix in April. Amy (Ali Wong) and Danny (Steven Yeun) meet via parking lot bump turned action-movie car chase, their lives connecting and their road rage lingering in weeks and months after the incident. In reviewing the series, IndieWire’s Ben Travers said that “’Beef’ does a fine job balancing Amy and Danny’s practical intelligence and impractical passions; their bitterness toward the other driver ebbs and flows as their personal lives better or worsen, and it’s in these moments that the half-hour drama thrives.”
The series from Lee Sung Jin premieres on April 6. See below for more titles coming to Netflix in April 2023.

Robert Morse, a legend of the New York stage who had a late-in-life resurgence as the eccentric businessman Bertram Cooper on “Mad Men,” is dead at the age of 90. His death was made public by writer-producer Larry Karaszewski on Twitter.
My good pal Bobby Morse has passed away at age 90. A huge talent and a beautiful spirit. Sending love to his son Charlie & daughter Allyn. Had so much fun hanging with Bobby over the years – filming People v Oj & hosting so many screenings pic.twitter.com/H1vCD3jjul

Morse had some small roles on the boards beginning in the mid-1950s, then got his big break in “How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” in 1961. Indeed, this iconic Camelot-era musical later reworked into a film in which Morse also starred, worked as a significant wink to insiders when Morse appeared in “Mad Men” decades later.

On Oct. 15, 2021, Power Rangers Dino Fury’s ‘The Matchmaker’ debuted on Netflix and ended like most Power Rangers episodes do. In it, the Dino Fury team saves the world from a giant monster and Javi, the Black Ranger, learns a valuable life lesson in communication after assuming his sister Izzy, the Green Ranger, had a crush on a guy.
“She really was acting different though,” Javi tries to reason. “I was sure it was cause she had feelings for someone.”
He turns around he spots Izzy smiling with Fern, another teen girl and athlete,
“Feel like ramen?” Fern asks.
“My favorite,” Izzy warmly responds, and holds out her hand to Fern. The two walk off, hand in hand, smiling affectionately at each other. The other Rangers watch them go, delightfully overwhelmed with how cute the two are. Izzy puts her head on Fern’s shoulder.

The increasing divide between the secular and ultra-religious in Israeli society would seem to provide the opportunity for compelling drama. Unfortunately, veteran director Avi Nesher (The Wonders, The Matchmaker) squanders that opportunity with his latest effort. Diluting its powerful themes with overcooked melodrama and unnecessarily distracting subplots, The Other Story would have benefited from a simpler, more direct approach. Family disputes and conspiracies take center stage in “The Other Story,” veteran helmer Avi Nesher’s lively drama exploring a hot button issue: the divide between Israel’s secular Jews and the ultra-Orthodox. The fluid narrative plays out against the backdrop of a Jerusalem riven by multiple conflicts as two dysfunctional families separately arrive at an understanding of what is important in life and are ultimately able to dial back their desire to deal in inflexible absolutes. Like Nesher’s other features of the past decade this smartly cast and smoothly directed drama involves an investigation. It’s a neat script ploy that allows loyalties to shift, revelations to surface and hidden agendas to appear, while keeping the action pacey and the audience guessing. After breaking box office records in Israel, Nesher’s entertaining 18th film will start its theatrical rollout on both coasts through Strand Releasing.
Actually, “The Other Story” boasts multiple investigations.

“If you discover the truth, if you reveal the truth,

One of the pillars of exercising thought control has always been to control a nation’s culture. Given the potential threat of free expression, destroying its foundation or effectively beguiling its representatives are two consequences we have seen in the past, and sadly still witness in the present. The trailer for Avi Nesher’s “The Other Story” has been released after it was announced Tuesday that the film will world premiere in the Contemporary World Cinema section of the Toronto Film Festival.
The screenplay was co-written by Nesher and Noam Shpancer, the clinical psychologist and novelist. It is based on a true story. It centers on two rebellious young women, one fleeing the chaos of secular hedonism for the disciplined comforts of religion; the other desperate to escape her oppressive religious upbringing and embrace sexual and spiritual freedom.
“Both women must confront the tension between self-assertion and tribal affiliation as they negotiate dueling fundamental human desires: to be, and to belong,” Nesher said in a statement.

Jj Abrams and Zachary Quinto are producing a movie for Paramount about the secret love affair between Tab Hunter and Anthony Perkins.
The project, titled “Tab & Tony,” is in early development without actors or a director attached. Playwright Doug Wright, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “I am My Own Wife,” has been hired to write the screenplay.
Producers are Abrams through his Bad Robot company, his “Star Trek” collaborator Quinto, Hunter’s longtime partner Allan Glaser, and Neil Koenigsberg.
The movie is based on Hunter’s account of his struggle to come to terms with being gay in the 1950s. Hunter wrote the 2005 book “Tab Hunter Confidential: The Making of a Movie Star,” which became a New York Times bestseller and detailed his rise to Hollywood heartthrob status in the 1950s while he was being marketed as the ideal man, as well as his issues with revealing his sexuality...
