Fighting back tears, DeVito said, "Don't try to make me cry." In a career spanning nearly four decades, DeVito has starred in movie classics including One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and L.A. Confidential and has directed other hits such as The War Of The Roses and Matilda. He is also well known for his producing skills. Actor Alec Baldwin has posted an apology online, explaining that his leaked answer machine rant was the result of being "driven to the edge" by his bitter custody battle with ex-wife Kim Basinger. The 30 Rock star was reported to be taking legal action on Saturday to find out who was responsibly for the leaked three-minute recording to Tmz.com, in which he verbally chastised his 11-year-old daughter Ireland, and called Basinger "a thoughtless pain in the a*s." But in a posting on his official website, Baldwin blames the L.A. Confidential actress for "alienating" him from his parenting duties, which propelled him to lose his temper. He says, "Although I have been told by numerous people not to worry too much, as all parents lose their patience with their kids, I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child. I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now... I am sorry for what happened. But I am equally sorry that a court order was violated, which had deliberately been put under seal in this case."

The creative team and original stars from cult movie LA Confidential are in talks to re-team for a sequel to the movie, going head-to-head with another sequel starring George Clooney. Director Joe Carnahan is also directing a follow-up to the film based on author James Ellroy's book White Jazz. According to entertainment website Tmz.com, another sequel is being planned by the film's original director Curtis Hanson. Hanson's version wouldn't rely on the plot of White Jazz and would instead pick-up where LA Confidential ended. The sequel would reunite original stars Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce and Kim Basinger, who won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in LA Confidential.

Oscar-winner Kim Basinger is due in court today to answer 12 contempt of court charges, and faces a 60-day jail sentence and $12,000 fine if she's found guilty. The LA Confidential star is accused by ex-husband Alec Baldwin of breaching a 2004 custody agreement laying down who should look after their 11-year-old daughter Ireland. Baldwin alleges Basinger failed to tell him she'd be out of town, giving him an opportunity to care for their daughter. He also claims Basinger failed to inform him of an injury Ireland suffered which needed medical attention. Court papers filed by Baldwin's lawyer allege Basinger has a "pathological need" to distance Ireland from her father, with one section claiming, "Over and over, Ms. Basinger demonstrated that her resentments are more precious to her than the emotional well-being of her child." The Los Angeles Superior Court has yet to consider the content of the papers.
