First Poster For ‘Knight and Day’

21 December 2009 8:00 AM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

Instead of getting a trailer for Piranha 3D, as reported to be attached with this week’s release of Avatar, most people got the trailer for Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise’s upcoming action-thriller, Knight and Day. Directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line, Cop Land) and written by Patrick O’Neill, in his first produced, feature screenplay, the film is centered around Diaz and Cruise’s characters being chased around the world where “no one and nothing is what it seems – even themselves.”

The trailer was pretty funny, and looked like the 20th Century Fox film is going to feature some fantastic action including Tom Cruise crash-landing a plane to jumping from a motorcycle onto the hood of Diaz’s car. The film also features Peter Sarsgaard (Orphan and An Education), Maggie Grace (Lost, Taken), Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood) and Viola Davis (Law Abiding Citizen and Doubt). Unfortunately, »

Harvey Keitel Greets Little Fockers; Zachary Quinto Takes a Spin on Whirligig

12 November 2009 10:35 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

According to THR, Harvey Keitel has joined the inevitable pain that is Little Fockers.   Even though Keitel has never achieved the stature of his early peer Robert De Niro, Keitel has kept steady work in low-profile material and thus maintained the respect that De Niro cannot claim with his rocky record of the past 15 years.  However, he will re-team with his Mean Streets co-star for the first time since 1997’s Cop Land.  But while I sight for De Niro, I shrug for Keitel because he’s kept work as a steady character actor and I find his career as respectable as I used to find De Niro’s.

In an unrelated project, Zachary Quinto aka New Spock, may make his next feature project a “romantic adventure” called Whirligig.  The film “centers on a man who, in a misguided attempt to woo an older woman, befriends the woman’s adopted son. »

Keitel + De Niro = Little Fockers

12 November 2009 | Cineman.ch/en | See recent Cineman.ch/en news »

After working together in the classics "Mean Streets" and "Taxi Driver", Harvey Keitel and pal Robert De Niro are back together. Millions of cinephiles would probably rejoice at the news that Harvey Keitel and Robert DeNiro, who worked together in the classics "Mean Streets" and "Taxi Driver", will be back together soon, but the excitement would most likely be dampened by the news that the two legends will be working on the third installment of "Meet The Parents". Far, far from Martin Scorsese's tortured and fascinating world... In "Little Fockers", Ben Stiller and Teri Polo are back, of course, as are Blythe Danner and the hilarious Owen Wilson, while Jessica Alba and Laura Dern will join the cast for the first time. Keitel and De Niro have also worked together on movies that have nothing to do with Scorsese: in the dark "The Bridge of San Luis Rey", the »

Little Fockers = Mean Streets 2...?

11 November 2009 11:57 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

They’ve only made a handful of films together but, given that two of those films can rightly be considered amongst the greatest ever made, it’s fair to say that a Harvey Keitel/Robert De Niro reunion is something most film fans would want to see. And now they’re about to get their wish. For, to the Scorsese double whammy of Mean Streets and Taxi Driver (sorry, James Mangold, but Cop Land doesn’t quite make the list), we can soon add… Little Fockers?!? Oh. Wow. Well, they do say be careful what you wish for.Keitel has signed on to the third film in the Meet The Parents series (to call it a trilogy would be far too grandiose) which will, of course, reunite the comedy team of Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. Keitel, last heard in Inglourious Basterds (his was the voice on the radio »

Method Man Faces Prison Time for Tax Evasion

6 October 2009 1:00 PM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

Method Man, a member of the platinum-selling rap group Wu-Tang Clan, has appeared in many movies, including "One Eight Seven", "Cop Land," "How High" and "Meet the Spartans." And just like other actors, he too has not been paying his taxes. The rapper, whose real name is Clifford Smith, surrendered to Staten Island officials this morning to face felony tax-evasion charges. He was seen covering his face with a book as he was led out of a police precinct on his way to his arraignment. Officials allege Smith didn't file New York State Income Tax Returns from 2004 through 2007, failing to pay $32,799 in personal income tax during that time. As a result, he faces a charge of repeated failure to file personal income and earnings tax, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison if convicted. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to pay tax. Method Man »

Matt Damon's Fat-Gaining Diet for The Informant

16 August 2009 5:30 PM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

It's always difficult for actors to lose weight or put on muscle for movie roles, but getting fatter has always been something to look forward to. Sylvester Stallone put on 40 lbs for "Cop Land" thanks to a steady diet of giant pancakes served at a local pancake house. And Russell Crowe added 63 lbs of fat to his frame for "Body of Lies" by eating cupcakes and cheeseburgers for breakfast. Now, Matt Damon has revealed his diet that has helped him gain 30 lbs for his role in the upcoming Steven Soderbergh-directed "The Informant." "I definitely got doughy. I started eating like crazy and drinking dark beer." he told Entertainment Weekly. "Between meals on set, I'd eat a No. 1 Value Meal at McDonald's and then Doritos on top of it. It was absolute heaven." Click here to read more about "The Informant." »

[DVD Review] Chaos

15 August 2009 10:00 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

While the big names above the title might suggest an a high-octane cops and robbers caper with intelligent plotting and pounding action, you would do well not to be fooled. Shot on the down slope of Wesley Snipes’s career, prior to the upswing of Jason Statham’s, and well into the wilderness of Ryan Phillippe’s, this shockingly lackluster thriller from writer/director Tony Giglio (the man who brought us Soccer Dog) is plodding, predictable, and oh so very boring.

The timing of this project is likely crucial to its blundering inability to resonate on pretty much any level as an engaging thriller. Snipes was neck deep in a legal dispute with New Line (the IRS was still to come) over the debacle that was Blade: Trinity, Phillippe’s marriage to Reese Witherspoon was imploding (the couple would file for divorce a year later), and Statham, who had yet »

Toronto After Dark 2009: The Warlords

12 August 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

The Warlords 2007, Hong Kong/China Directed by Peter Chan Written by Xu Lan, Chun Tin-Nam, Aubery Lam, Huang Jian Xin, Jojo Hui, He Jiping, Guo Jun Li, James Yuen Starring Jet Li, Andy Lau, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Xu Jinglei 127 minutes, English 35 mm Generally speaking, when an action star attempts a role that requires delivering dialogue rather than grunting while kicking an ethnic terrorist in the throat, there’s an inevitable backlash of Cop Land references. But in The Warlords, martial arts star Jet Li demonstrates that he’s capable of more range than one might expect. Of course, that doesn’t make The Warlords a particularly good film, unless you’ve got an Asian fetish or you spilled Faygo on your Braveheart DVD. The film falls firmly into the category of the average historical drama, geared slightly more towards military history students than women who like the costumes in Marie Antoinette. »

Blowing Candles Out For Action Heroes And Oscar Winners In This Week’s Birthday Bash

6 July 2009 6:00 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Just as everyone has an opinion, a favorite meal and a nose — albeit a fake one at times — so too does everyone have a birthday. Even celebrities. Here at Birthday Bash, it’s my mission to salute the fine actors, filmmakers and other Hollywood heroes that are celebrating their special day this week. After all, it’s cheaper than mailing a cake.

This week’s Birthday Bash is highlighted by an iconic action star, a recent comic book hero and one of the most reputable actors of our time.

Sylvester Stallone (July 6): When you’re thinking of the greatest action heroes in cinema history, it’s hard not to place Sylvester Stallone toward the top of the list. Stallone’s lengthy film career includes iconic turns as prizefighter Rocky Balboa and Ptsd-suffering John Rambo, two roles that the actor resurrected in recent years with a surprising amount of success. »

Peter Berg Eyes Battleship

17 May 2009 9:40 PM, PDT | TheMovingPicture.net | See recent TheMovingPicture news »

The board game adaptations keep coming. According to the trades Universal is prepping a big budget flick based on the popular Hasbro game Battleship and are in talks with Peter Berg (Hancock, The Kingdom) to direct. The game, which began in pencil and paper form in the early 20th century and is now available on platforms from cell phones to computers, consists of two players arranging a variety of ships on a grid. The game proceeds in alternating salvos as players try to "sink" the opposition's ships by guessing where they sit on the grid. While plot details are being kept below deck, the studio is looking to make an epic naval action adventure. Brothers Jon and Erich Hoeber have signed on to write the script. The two previously wrote Whiteout, the upcoming Kate Beckinsale thriller based on the comic book, and penned Summit's comic-book adaptation Red, which has Bruce Willis »
