Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

A woman appears completely nude (full frontal) in a wide shot.

3 women are seen soaring through the air, with topless shots.

A woman offers oral sex to a man in exchange for money. Another man can't watch unless he pays a hundred.

A woman is seen wearing lingerie, and another one is topless in a porn video (nothing else is seen).

The words dick and vagina are used in a sexual context.

A couple is shown after having sex, and the woman is trying to make sure she has a baby by doing Yoga.

Violence & Gore

(The violence is mostly played for comedy)

Some men attacks the protagonist in his apartment (holding his head in the toilet) and they urinate on his rug.

Walter pulls a gun on a man during a bowling match.

The protagonist (The Dude) is hit by a man.

Walter throws himself out of The Dude's car but unfortunately his Uzi goes off and hits the car several times before it crashes (none are hurt).

The Dude opens a wad of gauze that reveals a cut off little toe (both of which are just a little bloody), implying that someone snipped off a person's toe.

Thugs come into The Dude's place and smash things with a cricket bat. They then threaten to return the next day and cut off The Dude's genitals.

[spoiler] Walter takes a crowbar and thrashes a new car (that he believes belongs to the person they think stole money from them), breaking most of the glass and headlights, and denting other parts. The owner then rushes out, takes the crowbar and does the same to The Dude's car.

[spoiler] A policeman throws his mug and hits The Dude on his head. He then pushes over The Dude's chair and kicks him on the floor.

The Dude returns home to see that his place has been ransacked.

[spoiler] Walter, thinking that Lebowski is faking his paralysis, picks him up from his wheelchair and drops him to the floor in a heap.

Some German thugs burn The Dude's car and then confront him, Walter, and Donny. Walter eventually throws a bowling ball that strikes one of them in the gut, and then grabs another and bites off his ear, and finally punches the other one.

[spoiler] During this fight Donny has a heart attack and dies.

Profanity

Extreme language has a constant prescience throughout the movie. The language is so terrible as to make this film a bad choice for viewers under 17.

Several sexual jokes are said using the words "dick," "pussy," and "vagina."

Overall, there are 287 uses of "fuck" and its variations, with similar amounts of shit, and a few milder profanities. There have only been about 10 movies in history with more uses of the word "fuck" than this one. (Goodfellas)

A man smokes cigarettes throughout the film.

Another man constantly drinks "White Russians" but never goes overboard.

A man's drink gets drugged which causes him to black out.

A character is seen smoking marijuana several times throughout the film.

Hallucinations from drugs are also present in the film.

The Dude and Walter often drink beer (or have beer in front of them) at the bowling alley.

Towards the ending of the movie a main character dies of a heart attack.

Walter pulls out his gun and aims it (seriously) at another bowler over a slight argument they get in regarding a score.
