The first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released yesterday and...well, it was quite something. It's a Venom movie, alright, and while it looks like an "epic" conclusion to the trilogy, there are signs of the same old problems.
Sony Pictures has never quite managed to grasp this character, but Venom was a hit in 2018 and Venom: Let There Be Carnage also performed well despite being released in the final months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
That's given the studio a false sense of confidence and a belief that, no matter what fans and critics say, the goofy direction they've taken this franchise in is the right one. In this feature, we single out moments in the trailer which highlight the mistakes Sony has already made with Venom: The Last Dance.

The MCU is at it again, as they have made their fandom go nuts with the release of the new trailer of Venom: The Last Dance. The fans are baffled by the fact that Chiwetel Ejiofor portrays different roles in the superhero franchise. But what has left them confused is how a small part of the symbiote was left behind in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The segment is now a part of the MCU, leaving fans dazed. Even though it might sound surprising to some fans, this is not the first time when the franchise has massacred its holy timeline. Back in 2022, the fans were left equally bewildered because in the post-credits scene of Morbius an old face from Ssu was featured.

The first trailer for the final instalment in Sony Pictures' Venom trilogy, The Last Dance, was released yesterday, and while the footage didn't feature many major reveals, we did get confirmation that a villainous Symbiote teased in the previous movie will appear.
Towards the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, it was heavily implied that corrupt detective Pat Mulligan (Stephen Graham) had merged with a piece of the Carnage Symbiote. Mulligan returns in the trailer for The Last Dance, but the closed captions for the character's dialogue label him as Toxin.
"As long as Venom lives, everything, everyone will end," he says as the teaser cuts to shots of Venom in action.
It remains to be seen if Toxin is actually unleashed in this movie, but it would seem like an odd move to use the name in the subtitles if we weren't going to see Mulligan transform at least once.

One of the things Marvel fans are anticipating is the much-awaited showdown between Spider-Man and Venom, but it seems they put their hopes up too high. A scene from the latest trailer of Venom: The Last Dance showed that the symbiote left in Spider-Man: No Way Home has been captured.

The trailer for Tom Hardy’s Venom: The Last Dance showed what every fan wants to see in an R-rated superhero movie. In one of the scenes, a piece of symbiote left on Earth-616 was captured by Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character, which somehow hints that there’s no way it would meet Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Apprehensions regarding the fate of Marvel Studios post Avengers: Endgame went away right after a cinema-defining experience brought over by Spider-Man: No Way Home. The third iteration of the Tom Holland-led trilogy climbed up box office ranks swiftly while also bringing the multiverse into full force. Moreover, the implications of the storyline directly tied into the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it gave rise to speculations regarding Avengers: Secret Wars.

“Eddie… my home has found me,” the symbiote Venom warns his host Eddie Brock in the first trailer for the third Venom movie, Venom: The Last Dance. For the longest time, that statement wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.
After all, Venom’s “home” was Battleworld, the planet where the Beyonder took a cadre of heroes and villains in the 1984 Marvel Comics crossover Secret Wars. When Spider-Man’s costume was ruined, a machine on Battleworld created a new one for him, which later revealed itself to be a malevolent symbiote. When Peter abandoned the suit, it bonded with the equally aggrieved photographer Eddie Brock and became Venom.
Simple, right? So simple that the origin stayed pretty much the same over the years, even as guys like Carnage showed up. Alternate versions of the Venom story, such as Spider-Man 3 or the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 video game, found...

In Venom: Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene, Eddie Brock was teleported from his reality to Earth-616 (a.k.a. the Marvel Cinematic Universe).
His beaten-up Mexico hotel was replaced by what looked like a 5* resort, with the Venom Symbiote taking great interest in a TV news report about the wall-crawler. The stage was then set for a meeting between the two characters, only for Spider-Man: No Way Home to end with the reveal that Eddie never left his resort.
However, Venom did leave a piece of himself behind on Earth-616 in a scene clearly meant to open the door to Tom Holland's Peter Parker getting his own alien suit.
With Eddie sent back to where he came from, only a bartender - played by Ted Lasso's Cristo Fernández - was left to comment on the fact his sole customer vanished without paying his tab.

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, and this is far from an initial teaser, packing in quite a bit of action-packed footage from what is being marketed as the final instalment in the franchise.
It seems the Symbiote has finally managed to convince Eddie Brock to embrace being a "lethal protector" and start doling out some vigilante justice, as we see them dispatch a group of goons in typically violent fashion.
Venom's actions begin to bring unwanted attention, however, as it's revealed that Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) and Juno Temple's (Ted Lasso) characters have been tasked with tracking Brock down - and we also learn that members of the Symbiote's alien race have taken an interest.

They are Venom, and they are officially back — Sony Pictures has dropped the first trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance,” the final movie in the Spider-Man villain trilogy.
Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock, better known as the brain-eating, symbiote villain Venom from the Spider-Man comics. Sony is touting “The Last Dance” as “the final film in the trilogy.” According to the logline, “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”
In the trailer, Hardy faces a massive, symbiote alien from Venom’s home planet, on top of being hunted by government agents. There’s plenty of symbiote action, plus a scene where Hardy rides a super-fast, Venom-ized horse. Joining Hardy is “Ted Lasso” star Juno Temple and...

The fact that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man can produce webs from his own body already distinguishes him from Andrew Garfield’s and Tom Holland’s versions. However, there’s another web-related trivia that sets Maguire apart from the other two Spider-Men.

If there is one fandom that is allowed to have the most trust issues, it is probably Marvel fans. The franchise is known for being especially untrustworthy with the information it gives out. The secrecy surrounding every single project in the MCU is ingrained in the very fabric of the franchise. The perfect example of how far they are willing to go to keep key details under wraps is what Andrew Garfield did in the days leading up to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Venom star Tom Hardy confirmed that the third movie would mark Eddie Brock's "last ride" in a social media post shortly after production began, and we found out back in March that this sentiment (if not the exact wording) had carried over to the official title: Venom: The Last Dance.
Despite mostly negative reviews, the first two movies did very well at the box office, and while many fans feel the title character deserves better, others view the mostly light-hearted comic book adventures as a bit of throwaway fun and are looking forward to a first look at some footage from the threequel.
Following Friday's news that the first trailer has been classified and will most likely screen head of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, we have a more exact update on when the teaser is expected to debut online.

Marvel Studios has a rather odd calendar in store for 2024. After years of lining up a slew of movies and shows post the Avengers: Endgame storyline, it has dialed back significantly with Deadpool & Wolverine standing out as its sole release for the year. Regardless, the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer has raked in sufficient hype and nostalgia to sail forward as one of the most anticipated Marvel movies in recent times, setting up the stage for a mega box-office showdown.

When Tom Hardy first appeared as the fan-favorite Eddie Brock/Venom, it was largely the ideal combination. The grit, acting chops, and intrepid energy that Hardy brought to the character meant that Sony immediately had a hit on their hands.
While Venom was rated PG-13, it did not need to showcase a large amount of violence and gore in order to attract audiences. That was a job done by the film’s narrative, and the evergreen, oft-hilarious charm of Tom Hardy.

We have an update on Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' search for a director to take the helm of Spider-Man 4, and it seems Ms. Marvel and Bad Boys: Ride or Die filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah may indeed be in contention to land the gig.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, El Arbi and Fallah - who infamously helmed the Batgirl movie Warner Bros. decided to scrap as a tax write-off - are "in the mix" to direct the Spider-Man: No Way Home follow-up, but it sounds like there are other candidates.
Richtman also indicates that directors with "a current connection with Sony and Marvel Studios" are being looked at, and the studios may also be focused on enlisting "an indie director like they did with Jon Watts."

Throughout the years, George Clooney and Brad Pitt have teamed up multiple times – not just on Ocean’s Eleven (and the subsequent Twelve and Thirteen), but also on the Coen Brothers’ Burn After Reading. And now, 16 years after that comedic shaggy-dog tale, the duo is back on screen together, teaming up in Jon Watts’ upcoming comedy-thriller Wolfs. That’s a proper movie-movie-star pairing, combining to lead Watts’ return to more grounded territory after helming Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home; his latest film sees Clooney and Pitt play solitary crime scene fixers, who suddenly find themselves having to work together after both being called to clean up the same mess. Watch the trailer here:
Wolfs (it’s going to take a few goes to get used to how that title sounds) looks to be that all-too-rare thing – a film-star-led original studio picture, not originating from any kind of source material.

"Who are you?" "I'm here to take care of your problem." Sony Pictures & Apple Original Films reveal the first official trailer for Wolfs, an action comedy coming to theaters later this year (and eventually streaming on Apple TV+). Wolfs is the latest movie from director Jon Watts, who is taking a break from Spider-Man after making the three MCU movies before: Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home. Though he's sticking around in NYC. The film follows two lone wolf fixers who are assigned to the same job. George Clooney and Brad Pitt (reteaming again after the Ocean's movies), two "lone wolves", are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected. The cast also includes Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Irina Dubova, Poorna Jagannathan, with Zlatko Burić. Featuring some slick cinematography by Larkin Seiple. This seems like a good one!

As Sony Pictures continues to re-release all eight live-action Spider-Man movies in theaters, the latest Spidey adventure to swing back on to the big screen is 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home.
While the first few films performed pretty well, it seems these more recent instalments in the franchise are simply too fresh in a lot of people's minds, as Tom Holland's second solo outing as the Webhead took in just $265K on Monday for the lowest opening day of the re-releases so far.
Interestingly, this version of Far From Home includes a scene that didn't feature from the original theatrical cut of the movie, with Spidey taking out some goons in his Iron Spider suit.

MCU is currently scouting for a fresh face to direct the next Tom Holland Spider-Man flick, given that Jon Watts won’t be swinging back into the director’s chair. Word on the street is that Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the dynamic duo behind some of Marvel’s hit shows, the most popular being Ms. Marvel, might be up for the gig. Fans are totally hyped about this potential match-up.

It was recently confirmed that Sony is developing its last Venom movie ever, Venom: The Last Dance. Although no further details regarding the movie have been revealed, whether this will be Tom Hardy’s last dance too or not, there have been some pretty interesting rumors about the upcoming movie.
Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock in Venom | Sony Pictures
According to one leaked plot for the movie, Sony is reportedly planning to introduce a 10-year-old Peter Parker in the film. And if this rumored leak holds any traction, the film will well ruin the one scene that ties Hardy’s Venom movies with Tom Holland’s MCU movies.

Both Tom Hardy and Tom Holland‘s respective Marvel entries have been some of the best Marvel movies of all time.

We've come to the end of another week here on Cbm, and while it's been a bit of a slow few days for major news, there are more than enough rumors doing the rounds to keep you going!
In this latest round-up of Marvel Cinematic Universe-related rumors, we have (possible) updates on quite a few upcoming big-screen releases, including The Fantastic Four, the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings sequel, and Avengers 5/Secret Wars. There's also talk of a brand-new project (or projects) featuring Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Men.
According to Daniel Richtman, Sony Pictures wants to bring Maguire and Garfield back as their respective takes on Spider-Man (no surprise after the success of No Way Home), but as "key players" in a Multiverse storyline of their own, separate from the McU's.

While we never got to see Peter losing Uncle Ben in the MCU, which makes sense as it has been done to death in other iterations, No Way Home did leave fans teary-eyed with Aunt May’s demise. Although heartbreaking for sure, this could be regarded as this version of Peter’s canon event, as her death and Nwh‘s ending set the path for a more traditional Spider-Man story moving forward.
However, per new reports, it seems this wasn’t the last of Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May in the MCU, as Spider-Man 4 is reportedly planning to bring her back in some form.

With the San Diego Comic-Con and D23 fast approaching, it surely won't be too much longer until we get a long-overdue slate update from Marvel Studios.
Some changes are bound to have been made following a return to quality over quantity and there are still big gaps in the Multiverse Saga which need to be filled.
It's looking like Young Avengers will be one of those projects and, according to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, that will be led by Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop/Hawkeye and Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. The Marvels' post-credits scene set the stage for them to take charge of the team, so we're not exactly shocked.
As for who will join them, your guess is as good as ours...there are plenty of potential candidates, though.
Next up is Spider-Man 4. Earlier today, we told you that Venom is expected to play a minor role in the movie.

The Spider-Man 4 rumors have been picking up steam over the past few weeks, as Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios (hopefully) get closer to making some kind of official announcement regarding the No Way Home follow-up.
Depending on what ends up being revealed in the trailers, this latest rumor may not turn out to be a major spoiler, but we're being careful just in case it is something that's kept out of the marketing.
According to Mttsh, Venom will appear in the fourth Spider-Man movie, but won't be the "main villain." There's no mention of Tom Hardy, so there's always a chance the Venom symbiote will take over another host.
Peter Parker himself, perhaps?
This would back up a previous rumor that the piece of the alien symbiote left behind at the end of No Way Home will factor into the plot, but would it be a smart move...

Spider-Man 4 is one of Marvel Studios' most highly anticipated movies but, as we write this, it has no release date or even a confirmed director.
According to Jeff Sneider, Marvel and Sony Pictures are developing a new trilogy together, with the intention being for one director - or a directing duo - to work on all three instalments.
He says it's unclear whether shooting really will begin this fall because Kevin Feige is taking his time choosing a filmmaker and is fully in charge of the creative process. That bodes well for Spider-Man 4 after it was previously reported he might be a little more hands-off due to having so many other commitments in getting the MCU back on the right track.
We've already heard a few different names for the movie, but Sneider makes a point of saying that Feige was particularly impressed with Adil El Arbi and...

Out of all the characters introduced in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe so far, Tom Hardy’s Venom is undoubtedly fans’ number one choice thanks to the relationship between Eddie Brock and the alien symbiote. However, since Venom is a Marvel Comics character associated with Spider-Man, fans hoped for a long time to see Tom Hardy’s Venom and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man come face-to-face in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

MCU has quite a slate of movies coming up, even though Marvel Studios has hit a rough patch with the last couple of projects. There have been talks about releasing fewer projects, as fans are definitely becoming tired of shows and movies of lower quality; still, if one character always managed to drag people to movies, it’s Spider-Man, by far the most profitable Marvel franchise, no matter the product you’re looking at.
‘Spider-Man 4’ has been in development for quite some time now, Tom Holland confirmed a while ago that he is reprising his role as Peter Parker along with Zendaya who will be back as Mj.
Aside from that, there’s little we know about the movie. Some reports stated that ‘Spider-Man 4’ will focus more on the street-level stories within the MCU, and now the latest reports state something else entirely.

The MCU has a bunch of movies on the way, even though Marvel Studios has faced some challenges with recent projects. There’s talk of cutting back on releases because fans are getting tired of lower-quality shows and movies. But when it comes to bringing in audiences, Spider-Man always delivers. It’s the most successful Marvel franchise, no matter what kind of Spider-Man content you’re talking about.

Venom 2 teasing Spider-Man in the end, the symbiote in No Way Home could be the next story the MCU might go with. A recent report claims that a symbiote movie of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is in the works, which essentially means fans will get to see Spidey wearing the Venom suit.

This is not something new, Venom has been a long-time Spider-Man rival, and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3 has been extensively featured. Also, Spider-Man wore the venom suit, albeit fighting it in the end. But Sony’s new Venom with Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock has been presented in a different light, and it would be interesting to see how the movie creatives fit the two franchises into one narrative with Spider-Man 4.

Marvel Studios being forced to split its attention between movies, streaming, and animation has resulted in the Multiverse Saga being a little messy. Now, they're making moves to fix that and we're expecting a big slate update to head our way later this summer.

Andrew Garfield is one of the best film stars of this generation, who has always captivated his audience. When we talk about perfect casting choices -- even outside the realm of superhero movies -- J.K. Simmons as The Daily Bugle head honcho J. Jonah Jameson in "Spider-Man" has to be right up there with the best of the best. Simmons so perfectly encapsulated the role that he has, essentially, been kept on as just about every version of the character throughout the Marvel multiverse, as evidenced by "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." But before Simmons signed on for the role, he was seen as perfect for another, very different role in Spidey's rogues gallery.

Adam Scott might have the most thankless part in Madame Web. He exists simply to share the screen with a listless Dakota Johnson and trade expository dialogue about how her character Cassie Webb doesn’t like children or anything related to family—obnoxious signposts to give the movie something like a character arc. Cast to bring the good will he earned playing wholesome snarks in Party Down and Parks and Recreation, Scott delivers his lines with a wry reserve that feels like resignation.
And yet, Scott’s mere presence in the film gives Madame Web an important quality lacking in all of Spider-Man’s MCU appearances. Because Scott isn’t playing any guy who shows way too much concern for his co-worker’s disinterest in being a mother; he’s playing Ben Parker, beloved and ill-fated uncle to Peter Parker.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the biggest franchises of all time. Having started with Iron Man, the MCU has recently been witnessing a decline in quality despite an abundance of quantity. In the world of comic book movies, there has never been a stranger relationship than the one between Jon Watts and Spider-Man. One of the most critically as well as commercially favored and strongest IPs of Marvel Comics, Spider-Man’s entry into the MCU was placed in the hands of a creator with the strangest IMDb credits under his directorial section.
Known for directing music videos, shorts, a claymation movie, and television series, Watts couldn’t have been placed at a more substantial position and with a more high-risk, high-reward IP than directing Spider-Man’s first debut under the Marvel banner after the controversial 12-year-long saga at Sony.

Andrew Garfield was cast as the second iteration of Spider-Man in Sony’s reboot of the film franchise. He made his debut as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man and also reprised his role in the sequel. While a planned third film was canceled after the sequel’s less-than-stellar performance, Garfield is still loved as the web crawler.
Garfield was replaced by Tom Holland in the MCU, and the star had followed up Tobey Maguire’s legendary performance when he was cast in the reboot. Andrew Garfield’s arc as Peter Parker in his The Amazing Spider-Man film series may have come to an abrupt end when fans were expecting more, but it still lives in their hearts nonetheless. This became apparent recently when Marvel fans jumped in the picture to remind everyone of his web-slinger saga by Marc Webbs after the shooting of the stunt scenes faced some criticism.
Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker in his own superhero film series.
This critical approach came from Jon Watts, the helmer of all three of Tom Holland’s movies as Parker, who recently shared some pretty bold advice for the next Spider-Man director regarding the slinging stunt scenes. But instead of gaining appreciation from fans for it, Watts instead faced criticism, with fans reminding him of how Garfield managed to pull those stunts off for his saga.

Released in theaters on May 2, 2022, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness marked Sam Raimi's triumphant return to the world of superhero cinema after previously helming Tob Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy.
The film was generally praised by fans and critics alike, on its way to grossing $955.8 million at the global box office.
However, a new report from Forbes raises questions about whether the film was profitable, considering its massive budget.
Previously, it was thought that Disney/Marvel spent $294M to produce the film, however, tax filings that Disney is required to disclose for productions filmed in the U.K. have revealed that Marvel spent £331.9 million or $414.9 million on the Doctor Strange sequel.
Given that box office revenue is split 50/50, Marvel pocketed ~$477.9 million after sharing ticket sales with theater owners, and that doesn't include what Marvel spent on P&a costs.
Recently, Raimi's name has come up as a potential director...

Unfortunately, before the shared universe could even launch, Sony pulled the plugs off it after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 failed to make it big at the box office, resulting in Garfield’s exit from the role.
But Tasm 2‘s failure might not be the sole reason why Sony opted to move into a new direction without the Oscar-nominated star per one leaked email, which Garfield didn’t completely debunk.

However, despite its issues, The Amazing Spider-Man excelled in one aspect compared to Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire’s films, and it’s Peter Parker’s love interest.
