Worth It for Bridgette Wilson fans
Paul_Kersey_Jr20 October 2005
This is your basic psycho beotch movie. I wouldn't be surprised if its been shown on Lifetime before.

Bridgette Wilson does a good job portraying a conniving psycho. There some sexy scenes with her, in a bra, or swimsuit, but no nudity. Overall, the movie kind of lags and is not paced well. Most scenes without Bridgette are boring. Some of the other actors performances are lacking. It has potential, the basic story or "premise" is good but could of been developed more.

"The Hand that Rocks the Cradle" is a better movie, due to a better script and better performances. Even "Poison Ivy" was better IMO, but this is worth it for Bridgette fans. Another gripe, is there are no cast interviews or commentaries. Also on my stock TV speakers, it seemed like the music was mixed too loud and sometimes drowned out the actors voices.

Thriller, disappointing end, fine performance by Bridgette. Wilson
Kar-27 December 1998
Ths movie is thrilling enough to keep you glued to your seat to its (predictable and disappointing) end. What makes it worth watching is a fine performance by Bridgette Wilson who has to lead an otherwise pretty mediocre cast. Peter Boyd and Seiko Matsuda at least manage to look desperate enough to give their characters some credibility. Direction and script are also not really inspired but provide the suspense necessary to keep you thrilled right to the end. Photography and music are above direct to video standard.

Not the most compelling thriller.
Hermit C-226 June 1999
This movie has a variation of the plot where a smiling stranger enters another couple's lives and wreaks havoc. Here it's a pretty young woman who is hired to be a surrogate mother for a childless couple. She says she's a pre-law student wanting to earn money for her education but soon it is shown that she's deceiving them and problems start to arise. Unfortunately this isn't a great telling of this story; the pace always seems to be off a beat or two throughout.

What this movie does have going for it is a fine performance by Bridgette Wilson as the young woman. She gets all she can out of the role and definitely bears watching in the future. I would only recommend this film to someone who is a big fan of the thriller genre, as there are plenty better than this one, but a dedicated fan might get some enjoyment out of it. Peter Boyle, Steven Gilborn and Marne Patterson are among the others in the cast.

A woman with a disturbed past, preys on an unsuspecting couple.
Verona14 March 1999
After watching quite a few of these TMC late night movies, it dawned on me- a simple formula. Such a formula made famous by Poison Ivy (an actually good movie) and taken to the limits with different types of women, dysfunctional couples and the disappointments that can happen in life.

The formula is as follows:

1.) Start the movie off with one of the main characters (usually the beautiful "evil" girl) as a child. Show what horrible thing happened to them, therefore leading to their psychosis.

2.) Show the unsuspecting souple (widower and daughter, divorcee and daughter, husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend) who somehow became entangled with the "evil" girl, and cant escape.

3.) Introduce the "friend" of the family or couple (this can be a best friend, boss, maid, boyfriend) who suspects the bad girl all along. When they find out a little too much, have them killed. Have the bad girl "comfort" them.

4.) Show how the bad girl seduces one half of the family or couple- all the while having something to hold over the other one's head. Have just one gratuitous sex scene.

5.) Have a bloody conclusion, where the now happy couple move to the suburbs.

I love Bridgette Wilson as an actress, and she did a good job with what she was given.

Okay movie
EmptyLeo1 September 1999
I admit i just watched this for Bridgette Wilson. I wasn't expecting much. What I got was a very predictable story - Girl chosen to be surrogate mother wants the baby for herself - with kind of a twist in the end. It seems the father had previously killed her parents in a car accident. Actually was a pretty good story to think all the planning that went into this beforehand. And Wilson did some good acting, some cheesy scenes, and there weren't any of those unnecessary 7 minute sex scenes. Pretty good movie,

Cinema's sexiest psycho
Bridgette Wilson is the only draw for this film. It was fun watching Billy Madison's sweet 3rd Grade teacher portray a demented surrogate mother. She far outshines Rebecca DeMornay in the similar Hand That Rocks the Cradle.

A wealthy young couple, played by Scott Cohen and the talentless Seiko Matsuda(what producer is she related to?), can't have a child of their own, so in enters Bridgette Wilson who becomes their surrogate mother.

Bridgette adds such raw deviant emotion to this role which makes it worthy to see alone. I had no idea she was capable of portraying such a violent evil woman, but she pulls it off brilliantly.

Peter Boyle fans, don't bother, as he wasn't used much. This is basically for Bridgette Wilson fans, who want to see a darker side to Billy Madison's item of lust.

OK movie
monkey-man14 July 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This film was OK but at times it got a bit crap the movies about how a married couple can not have children of there own so they get a surrogate mother to have the child for them. The movie stars actors like Seiko Matsuda,Bridgette Wilson,Scott Cohen,Claudette Nevins and Peter Boyle from the funny TV show Everybody Loves Raymond. The acting is OK in this movie and the story line is good and there are some good violent scenes in this movie like when Peter Boyle got beaten to death and the end scene in the movie. This film is a must see for fans of the Thriller genre or anyone looking for a OK movie and over all this film was OK and my rating is 5 out of 10.

Not thrilling--a terrible movie
Curly-274 March 2000
Don't be fooled and don't waste your time. This movie was SOOO bad that I don't even want to waste time writing about it. This is only a warning to others not to see it unless you enjoy bad writing, blood and a full-on loony as the main character. Peter Boyle and Scott Cohen are too fine of actors to put their energies into such a pathetic film. What were they thinking?

The twist was good--Spoilers
abbylee51910 November 2001
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is pretty much like any other thriller/drama...a pretty woman shows up and wreaks havoc on an unsuspecting family. However, this was a lot better than Poison Ivy or the Hand That Rocks the Cradle because the reason the main character (Bridgette Wilson) hates the family is rather compelling. It appears that the husband as a teenager was involved in a car accident that killed Bridgette's parents. After they were killed, she was forced to live with a family where her foster dad was a pervert and repeatedly raped the girl (When she was somewhere between 12 and 15) and impregnated her, then she miscarried. Her anger is directed not only at her foster dad (who she kills as a teen), but at the man she feels is responsible for placing her in that situation--the other driver. This twist is about the only good thing in this slow movie--instead of showing her wandering around acting psychotic, they should have done more with this.
