Don't call it a comeback for Wesley Snipes and director Abel Ferrara, they've been here for years. Of course, it's been a long time since they've been at the top of their games -- notably in 1990, when they teamed up to deliver the cult hit King of New York. Since then they've chosen different paths. Snipes went on to become a major action star of the 90s (and beyond) with films such as Passenger 57, The Fan and the Blade trilogy. Big Fan Trailer Starring Patton Oswalt

7 July 2009 9:52 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

After writing the script for Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, Robert Siegel makes his directorial debut with Big Fan, a dark character study about an obsessed football fan who gets beaten up by his favourite player. This is a movie I've been really looking forward to, and I was completely bummed that we weren't able to catch it at Sundance earlier this year. Fortunately, it was picked up for distribution by First Independent Pictures, and they will be releasing it in select theatres next month. The first trailer has arrived online this week and I think it looks pretty intriguing. The movie stars Patton Oswalt in the lead role, and he has been getting a lot of praise for his performance. Obviously with Oswalt there is an expectation for it to be a comedy, but as the trailer indicates there is very little humour here at all. The supporting cast »
