  • The company name "Cyrez" was originally "Cyrex", but the real-life company Cyrix complained. The movie had been shot, but all dialogue was dubbed and company logos were digitally altered during postproduction.

  • When Kruger comes to Lee's house, he has "LETS PARTY" [sic] printed on the back of his jacket. This is a reference to Commando (1985) in which Arnold Schwarzenegger says that line to Vernon Wells.

  • At Tony Two Toes' office, Arnold is referred to as the Tree Trunk. Arnold Schwarzenegger is nicknamed the Oak.

  • Although only Tony Puryear and Walon Green are credited with the film's screenplay - and the two of them along with Michael S. Chernuchin for the film's story - the film went through so many revisions from so many different writers that the final shooting script reportedly "looked like a rainbow". William Wisher Jr. reportedly did multiple rewrites during the production as well.

  • John Milius did multiple rewrites as a favor to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

  • The early version by Tony Puryear was meant as an action vehicle for Robert De Niro.

  • Reportedly, some scenes were written, lit, prepared and then never shot. This happened several times and drove up the budget of the film.

  • Cameo: [Sven-Ole Thorsen] Arnold Schwarzenegger's friend and frequent collaborator appears as a gunman towards the end of the film.

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger picked up $17 million for playing the lead.
