Yes, another briefcase of bucks story..this time from Billy Bob Thornton.
Eric Stoltz plays a down-and-out musician heroin addict in Hollywood who stumbles upon a briefcase of money during a bad drug deal (Dwight Yoakum). He steals it, and the owner of the money, Marshall (Thornton), comes after him with his thugs. Stoltz goes back to Galveston, TX, where he meets up with his 2 childhood buddies (including John Corbett of My Big Fat Greek Wedding)he hasn't seen in 8 years. They are clueless to what has happened, and so there is good tension when Marshall closes in. The film alternates between scenes of the bad guys coming to get their money, and the good guys rekindling their friendship.
Lots of little details in this movie are interesting, and the script is intelligent..a surprisingly good TV movie, which is grittier and more realistic than theater releases these days. Good job, Billy Bob. 8 pts.
