A thoughtfull short movie.

It's not often that i say a film is too short, most movies are too long for their own good but this french drama needed a little bit more in the way of explanation as to what the young girl's mother had to go through because it is obvious that the film is saying that the girl is following in her unfortunate footsteps. The acting is very good from the short cast and at times the scenes make you cringe which is not a critisism of their acting more like praise.

It's dark as most French films are but at least the French tackle subjects that Hollywood wouldn't touch with a barge pole and the subject of child abuse is the most controversal of all and to their credit they pull it off. 7 out of 10.

Shocking, but necessary

A ten year old girl is received by her aunt because of her mother's confinement to a mental hospital. But the aunt lives with a man, Jean-Pierre, who seems to be a little too nice with the girl...

Pedophilia is not an easy subject, especially for a movie. But thanks to the great intelligence of the visual style, and the script, La bouche de Jean-Pierre (in English: Jean-Pierre's mouth) is one of the best films about pedophilia, without excessive pathos. Actors are amazing, especially the little girl.
