"Ink" originally aired back-to-back with the sitcom "Pearl," starring Mary Steenburgen's ex-husband Malcolm McDowell and Ted Danson's ex-"Cheers" co-star Rhea Perlman.
This was a production of DreamWorks Television, the television division of DreamWorks SKG. This studio was acquired by Paramount Pictures in 2006, and the live-action DWTV productions which DreamWorks retained the rights to (as opposed to shows where DWTV ceded full ownership to a co-production partner, like "Las Vegas" which was fully owned by NBC) later became part of the library of the new Paramount Television which launched in 2013. The original Paramount Television produced two series on which "Ink" cast member Ted Danson starred - "Cheers" and "Becker." In 2019, Viacom, parent of Paramount, re-merged with CBS, forming ViacomCBS, which now owns all three programs.
