New Teaser Poster for 'The Crazies' Remake

28 September 2009 8:53 PM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

From the department of Everything Old is New Again, the remake of the George A. Romero horror classic, The Crazies, will be released in early 2010. It's directed by Breck Eisner (Sahara) and stars Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell, Danielle Panabaker, and Joe Anderson. I personally think both Olyphant and Mitchell are consistently underrated, particularly for this kind of thing, so that's probably good casting.

With all the tainted food we've seen over the past couple of years and the now-serious spread of a swine flu we thought was much ado about nothing, a movie chronicling the inhabitants of a small town who are stricken with rabid insanity or worse when their water supply is poisoned seems to have quite a bit of relevance. Like Outbreak without Dustin Hoffman. And, you know, scarier.

Overture Films has sent over a new poster for The Crazies, and what do you know - here it »

Boos! and Whoop-doos!: The Swine Flu Weekend Movie Marathon!

1 May 2009 2:03 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

There is a dark cloud looming over this weekend, and it's called The Swine Flu! Vice President Biden caused quite a panic yesterday when he told the nation he was keeping his family and friends away from enclosed spaces such as subways, airplanes, buses, malls, and the local Wal*Mart. If you don't want to catch this dreaded pig virus, you must wash your hands while counting from A to Z. You must stay away from strangers. And you must avoid the local Cineplex at all costs (because that is the number one breeding ground for icky porcine germs).

This means a lot of you would-be ticket buyers are going to be stuck at home, guzzling antibiotics and trying to duct tape your windows shut this weekend. When the dust has settled, and you finally have the living room walled off in bubble wrap, that most dread villian is bound to strike. »
