A NOTE REGARDING SPOILERS

The following FAQ entries may contain spoilers. Only the biggest ones (if any) will be covered with spoiler tags. Spoiler tags are used sparingly in order to make the page more readable.

Gotham City is a fictional U.S. port city located on the north-eastern Atlantic coast. It was originally a stand-in for New York City, but has also been likened to other crime-ridden urban centers such as Chicago and Detroit. Some sources have placed Gotham City in the state of New Jersey; however, this cannot be considered definitive.

The current DC Universe version of Gotham City is actually a small island connected to the mainland by a series of bridges and tunnels. The east and south sides of Gotham face the Atlantic Ocean. The city is further divided by the Sprang River (named for Dick Sprang) on the northern end and the Finger River (for Bill Finger) to the south. Tiny Blackgate Isle to the south-east is home to Blackgate Maximum Security Penitentiary. Blackgate is replaced by Stonegate Peniteniary in the animated series Batman (1992) and its spin-offs.

Apparently, Chase sleeps more comfortably when she's naked, and even though she had essentially "invited" Batman to her apartment, she had no way of knowing he'd actually come. However, it is likely she was expecting a night of fornicating with Batman, which is the actual reason she was naked.

There are three possible explanations:

1) Batman asked Commissioner Gordon where Chase Meridian was staying during her visit to Gotham City.

2) The other explanation potentially compromises Batman's secret identity of Bruce Wayne. Chase only told Batman to come to her house, without saying where she lived. Bruce Wayne had already visited Chase's house before and in that case, Batman would have no problem getting there. With these things stated, Chase, knowing as much as she knows about both Batman and Bruce and being the intelligent thinker that she is, could very possibly draw the conclusion that Batman and Bruce Wayne are the same man.

3) If Chase invited a police officer over without giving the address, he could very easily find it. She likely just figured if he really wanted to come over, he'd make the effort to track her down seeing as how he IS Batman. This would let her know that he was interested.
