Zachary Quinto To Provide Voice Acting for 'Star Trek Online'

Zachary Quinto won't reprise his role as Spock from 2009's "Stark Trek" in Cryptic Studios' 2010 Mmo "Star Trek Online," but he will voice act for an Emergency Medical Hologram and the game's tutorial. The actor who first rose to prominence for his role as Sylar on NBC's "Heroes," revealed his new Trek job at Spike's Video Game Awards over the weekend, and Atari has reportedly confirmed the news.
"Being a part of the Star Trek universe has been an incredible experience for me," Quinto said, according to Destructoid. "Extending that experience into the gaming space, and sharing it with gamers and Trek enthusiasts around the world, makes it even more exciting."
The Emergency Medical Hologram has rich history in the Star Trek universe, most famously in "Star Trek: Voyager" where the program was portrayed by Robert Picardo. Quinto also joins a legacy that includes Andy Dick, who picked up the part in one episode.

Happy Anniversary 'Star Trek'!
On this day in 1979, Paramount Pictures released Star Trek: The Motion Picture in theaters, thus beginning three decades of 'Star Trek' on the silver screen, and culminating in this year's reboot of the franchise with director Jj Abrams' Star Trek. One might also argue that the relative financial success of Star Trek: The Motion Picture also paved the way for the franchise's return to television with Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture didn't begin as a feature film, however. The erstwhile series' extraordinary popularity in syndication prompted Paramount Pictures and Trek creator Gene Roddenberry to begin developing a new 'Star Trek Phase II' series in May 1975—part of the cornerstone of a new television network Paramount had planned. Work on the series stalled, however, when the proposed Paramount Television Service folded.

Joseph Guerrieri (The Jackalope) and Justin Guerrieri are the brains and the legs behind horror film Trail of Blood. A film that is character driven, horrifying, and full of surprises, Trail of Blood is currently in post-production and searching for distribution. To be shown at film festivals beginning in 2010 the Guerrieri brothers have taken the time out from moviemaking to talk to me for all of you about Trail of Blood, the process of filmmaking, life and filming in the Angeles National Forest. Among the stars of the upcoming new movie Repo Chick - Alex Cox's so-called "official non-sequel" to his 1984 sci-fi cult classic Repo Man - is Us actor/writer/producer Danny Arroyo.
The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September, is co-produced by David Lynch's production company (Eraserhead, Dune, The Elephant Man, Twin Peaks) and produced by Daren Hicks and Simon Tams (producers of Batman: Dead End, Searchers 2.0, Hunter Prey).
The official synopsis of the project is: "Against the background of the credit crunch and the subprime mortgage crisis in the Us, where repossessions of homes, cars and other forms of property is at a new high, the repo business has expanded to everything from boats, houses, aeroplanes, small nations...children."

'Global Frequency' back to TV?

Global Frequency, the DC/Wildstorm comic, might be back in play as a TV series.
You may remember that in 2005, Mark Burnett (producer of Survivor) and John Rogers (who would go on to write the comic Blue Beetle and create the show Leverage) created a pilot for the WB. The pilot wasn't picked up; however, it got leaked to the Interwebs and became the most watched pilot that never got picked up.
Now the industry magazine Production Weekly has just posted the following on Twitter: The CW will again try to adapt Warren Ellis' comic book "Global Frequency," this time Scott Nimerfro will script the pilot. Scott Nimerfro has written for Star Trek: Voyager, Tales From The Crypt, Perversions Of Science, The Outer Limits, Stargate: Atlantis, and Pushing Daisies, and was an associate producer on the X-Men movie.

Joss Whedon show has been taken off air – for now at least – and looks unlikely to be back for a third season
Usually we'd have an episode-by-episode review of Dollhouse up at this point in the week. But not today – because it's disappeared from both UK and Us the schedules.
The fact that the latest show from Joss Whedon - who has Buffy, Angel and, Firefly among his credits - is missing comes as a disappointment (if not a shock) to its most ardent fans. While Dollhouse will have the chance to finish its Us TV run in December, and presumably its UK run not long after, that still asks a lot of viewers.
Problems with the show came after Fox in the Us decided the audience figures weren't strong enough - it has been in a notoriously difficult Friday night slot - and so for the duration of November

The Official Dwight Schultz Fansite is reporting that the original series actor will have a cameo role in The A-Team film directed by Joe Carnahan. The site says:
We are pleased to inform you all that Dwight has actually already been working in Vancouver, where he has played a cameo role in The A-Team movie. Sharlto Copely, the South African actor who plays Murdock, is according to Dwight: ‘brilliant beyond words’. Dwight has seen his screen test and he stated: that honestly, if Sharlto is given an opportunity to do what I saw in that test, “Murdock” will be better than ever!’ Sharlto has been very kind to him on the set and Dwight must say that he has been treated very well.

Who and what will feature in the next Star Trek movie?
That seems to be a popular topic for debate as director Jj Abrams and writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman explore story possibilities amid huge pressure to repeat the success of the first film.
And Kate Mulgrew, who played Captain Kathryn Janeway in TV series Star Trek: Voyager, is keen on a slice of the intergalactic action once again.
Janeway also appeared as a Starfleet Vice Admiral in 2002's Star Trek Nemesis movie.
Genevieve Bujold was originally cast in the role for the TV series but quit after the second day of filming on the first episode.
Mulgrew, 54, who had suggested the character's first name, says she'd be very interested in appearing in the new Star Trek franchise if asked by Jj Abrams.

A bit more video content has come out of this year's Afm, this time for the horror/comedy known as Dahmer Vs. Gacy, which promises to leave blood on the walls and laughs in your belly!
Foy first told us about this flick back in August (click here for that story). Star Trek Voyager fans, prepare to have your heart rates accelerated to warp speed. Kate Mulgrew, the actress who portrayed the wonderful, dynamic, possibly lesbionic Captain Kathryn Janeway, has expressed an interest in appearing in a new Star Trek film. The Geek Files blog has the scoop:
Asked by Sci Fi Now if she'd consider a role in the new films, she said: "I would, I'd love to return to Janeway. I'd love to do her in a movie. I think he'd be wise to do it, don't you? He should get me and Picard in there. It's a brilliant idea.”
The latest Star Trek film covered its tracks in re-launching the “original” series with Kirk, Spock and the gang — but it also allowed for the possibility for other characters in the universe to appear. With a touch of creative sci-fi imagining, Picard and Janeway could totally make cameos.

We've been waiting for an update on As Darkness Falls, a hybrid television/radio horror anthology series, for some time now, and we recently learned that it will be making its debut on Time Warner Cable in Southern California on Wednesday, November 11th, at 11:30 pm Pst.
From the press release:
"As Darkness Falls… is a program very different from the usual fare on television these days with the chills coming from the performances and writing rather than from tricky special effects work. It is hosted by actor Tucker Smallwood, a well-known character actor instantly recognizable to science fiction/fantasy horror fans for his roles on such series as ‘Space: Above and Beyond’, ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ and ‘The X-Files’.

She hasn’t even seen the new Star Trek film yet, but Kate Mulgrew, who played Captain Kathryn Janeway in the Star Trek: Voyager TV series, already wants in on the rebooted franchise.
Mulgrew's Captain Janeway also had a cameo in the 2002 movie Star Trek: Nemesis. When asked if she would consider a role in the rebooted Trek film series by J.J. Abrams, she responded, "I would, I'd love to return to Janeway. I'd love to do her in a movie."
Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are currently developing a storyline for the Trek sequel, and in a separate interview, Abrams said any worry about bringing back established characters was negated by the first film’s success. In this summer’s Star Trek, Leonard Nimoy, who originated the Spock role, played an older, time-traveling version of himself.
According to Coventry Telegraph, Mulgrew admitted she has yet to watch Abrams' movie,

Kate Mulgrew, best known for her role as Captain Janeway on "Star Trek Voyager," is also a veteran voice actor, providing work on a number of cartoons and video games. Her latest gig places her in the role of Flemeth, a powerful witch in the universe of "Dragon Age: Origins." I spoke with her over the phone a little while ago, and with the game dropping tomorrow I thought now would be a perfect time to share some of her thoughts on the role.
I've done a lot of interviews with celebrity voice actors, and it's rare that they're super committed to the role they're playing. Could the announced delay of new film actually be a good sign?
I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time in airport bars or airline clubs. The good part about that happenstance is the fact that I can whip out the laptop and begin to type my column when I tend to get what I call .The Wave..
"The Wave" is that brainload of ideas and stuff that sometimes builds up and then begs to be let out.

The opening credits of the series premiere of Stargate Universe show the vast expanse of space as a ship jumps out of Ftl and begins to glide closer to our screens. An orchestra of sounds play in the background with an almost menacing and forboding undertone. It doesn't take long before it's crystal clear that the show you are about to watch bears little resemblance to its predecessors. We're taken inside the ship where we see corridor after corridor coming to life, in much the same manner as that of the series premiere of Stargate Atlantis. As the camera pans from deck to deck, and lights spring to life, one thing becomes painfully clear: the ship is old, very old. Everybody's asking the question: "Who's going to serve as the villain or villains in the sequel to last summer's Star Trek?" Now that we're in an alternate Trek timeline, writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are free to tell stories that incorporate familiar faces but combine them in new and interesting ways.
Which got us thinking: who's likely to make the short list, and what sort of possible stories/combinations might we see? Will the filmmakers choose to go the route of borrowing once more from canon...or will they elect to craft an entirely new story with entirely new antagonists?
Since new antagonists are impossible to predict, we decided to look to the original canon and have offered a list of possible villains from which Orci and Kurtzman could choose. We've divided the categories up into four groups:

From working FX on SNL and Letterman to creating monsters for Dark Shadows, Andrew Clement has some tales to tell. Recently-wrapped on the reboot of A Nightmare On Elm Street (for which he redesigned Freddy Krueger), Jason Anders caught up with Clement for a candid conversation about his world of Creative Character Engineering.
Ja/Fangoria: So let's begin with your work as a make-up artist for NBC's Saturday Night Live; tell me about the work you did for the show, how you became involved, the memories you have being around the cast of actors, and which seasons you were involved in.
AC: I wish I had been involved in the first few seasons of SNL, it was such a fertile time for the show. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I’m not quite that old. As it is, I watched those shows in Jr. High and High School, and now I have the DVD’s.
