In Fritz Kiersch's bonkers 1984 horror film "Children of the Corn," the small town of Gatlin, Nebraska is taken over by a gaggle of murderous children. Gatlin's kids have killed the town's grown-ups at the behest of an off-screen deity named He Who Walks Behind the Rows, some kind of harvest-related being that demands death and blood. The kiddie cult is headed by Isaac (John Franklin), a soft-spoken Quaker type who quietly decrees violent action from his flock. Isaac would eventually be betrayed by his gruff lieutenant Malachi (Courtney Gaines) who ties Isaac to a cross. Franklin would reprise his role in 1999 for "Children of the Corn 666: Isaac's Return.
Franklin has had a respectable acting career since his Corny debut, having played multiple voice roles in the '80s, as well as Cousin Itt in 1991's "The Addams Family." Franklin also showed up in the notorious cult film "Tammy and the T-Rex...

In the film, wealthy businessman John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) and a team of genetic scientists have created a wildlife park filled with dinosaurs. When industrial sabotage leads to a catastrophic shutdown of the park’s power facilities and security precautions, a small group of visitors, including Hammond’s grandchildren (Ariana Richards and Joseph Mazello), paleontologist Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and paleobotanist Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), struggle to survive and escape the now perilous island.

We bounced all over the place in May, starting with Fred Dekker’s genre mash-up Night of the Creeps before getting deadly serious with Gus Van Sant’s pseudo-Columbine film Elephant, trippy with Alex Garland’s surreal Annihilation. Now we’re back in ultra campy territory with the silly and heartfelt Tammy and the T-Rex (1994).
In writer/director Stewart Raffill‘s low-budget horror comedy, high schooler Tammy (Denise Richards) is in love with Michael (Paul Walker) but her jealous ex Billy (George Pilgrim) won’t let her go. After a near-deadly prank, Michael’s comatose body is stolen by mad scientists Dr. Wachenstein (Terry Kiser) and his assistant Helga (Ellen Dubin) who want to use the boy’s brain to pilot an animatronic dinosaur.
But true love can’t be denied! Tammy, Michael and her gay best friend, Byron (Theo Forsett) will stop at nothing to find a...

Refraction action.
After closing out April with a look at the hagsploitation classic What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, we kicked off May with a deathly serious look at Gus Van Sant’s pseudo-Columbine adaptation Elephant. Now we continue the month with a look at Alex Garland’s dense and trippy 2018 film Annihilation.
Annihilation sees Lena (Natalie Portman), a biologist and former soldier, join a mission to uncover what happened to her husband (Oscar Isaac) inside Area X — a sinister and mysterious phenomenon that is expanding across the American coastline. Alongside a team of four other women comprised of paramedic Anya (Gina Rodriguez), physicist Josie (Tessa Thompson), psychologist Ventress (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and geomorphologist Cass (Tuva Novotny), Lena discovers a world of mutated landscapes and creatures, as dangerous as it is beautiful, that threatens both their lives and their sanity.

I never understood why Jurassic Park was the only dinosaur-related franchise to outlive the dino hysteria of the 90s. Don’t get me wrong, Spielberg’s classic is clearly the best movie to come out of that trend, but that doesn’t change the fact that dinosaurs as a concept are in the public domain and should have been featured in countless other films.
Fortunately for fans of all things prehistoric, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods’s upcoming 65 (March 10th) promises a return to the Jurassic-Park-less thrills of completely original dinosaur movies. And with that in mind, we’ve come up with this list highlighting six of the best non-jp dinosaur thrillers for all your prehistoric media needs!
As usual, this list is purely based on personal opinion, but since this is Bloody Disgusting, we’ll be limiting entries to monster movies and thrillers. That means no Super Mario Bros...

“Monster in the Closet” (1986)
One of Walker’s earliest roles was the 1986 horror flick “Monster in the Closet.” He played young “Professor” Bennett, the son of a college professor who teams up with another teacher and a local reporter to uncover the motive behind several murders.
“Tammy and the T-Rex” (1994)
Walker got prehistoric in “Tammy and the T-Rex,” directed by Stewart Raffill — he plays a boy named Michael whose brain is implanted into the body of a Tyrannosaurus and wreaks havoc on the town in search of his sweetheart, Tammy.
“Meet the Deedles” (1998)
Surf’s up, dude! Walker gave life to Phil Deedle, a surfer turned park ranger alongside Steve Van Wormer, who plays his brother, Stew Deedle. The film is a lighthearted one, complete with an ample helping of flatulence jokes.

I don’t know if you remember this or not, but after Jurassic Park came out and blew up at the box office, there was a surge of mostly bad dinosaur-themed movies that were released. One of these films was the ridiculously crazy 1994 cult classic Tammy and the T-Rex.
If you’ve never heard of this movie, or forgot about it, I’ve got a treat for you today! An uncut R-rated version of Tammy and the T-Rex is set to screen at Cinepocalypse in Chicago on June 17th and to promote the occasion a new trailer for the film has been cut and released.
The story for the film centers around a teen girl played by Denise Richards, who learns that a scientist (Terry Kiser) implanted her dead boyfriend's brain into a giant animatronic dinosaur. His name is Michael and after escaping the scientist’s lab, he goes back to school,...

Back in 1993, Steven Spielberg unleashed the classic “Jurassic Park” on an unsuspecting world. This blockbuster sparked a new interest in all things dinosaurs, with plenty of knock-off films and TV projects being released in its wake. But perhaps none of the dinosaur films of the last 25 years can compare to “Tammy and the T-Rex.” And thanks to the folks at Cinepocalypse, the world is about to be reintroduced to the cult classic film.

The annual Cinepocalypse event returns to the Music Box Theatre in Chicago from June 13-20 (check out this year’s lineup), and there’s one screening this year we cannot wait for. Back in 1994, one year after the release of Jurassic Park, a movie called Tammy and the T-Rex came along, the sort of so-bad-it’s-good gem that has become something of a cult […]...

Even the most beloved performers have made movies they shouldn.t be proud of. Sometimes a movie just doesn.t work out the way an actor thought it would, or they simply needed a paycheck. We.re still mourning the death of actor Paul Walker from his untimely death back in 2014, but some of his early work remains comedy gold that we cannot get enough of. A trailer for one of Walker.s earlier films has just surfaced, and it involves having his brain transplanted into a robot dinosaur. Take a moment for that to sink in, and check out the trailer below to see for yourself. If that trailer doesn.t promise an absolutely perfect movie then I don.t know what will. Tammy and the T-Rex starred Denise "Worst Bond Girl Ever" Richards and Paul Walker as the titular couple way back in the 1990s when the two...

After his untimely and tragic death last year, Paul Walker left behind a filmography that included plenty of hits ... and a few misses. Like this gem, titled "Tammy and the T-Rex," from 1994. In the movie, Paul Walker plays a teen who is mauled to death by a lion after a group of bullies drop him in a safari park, much to the dismay of his girlfriend, played by Denise Richards. Naturally, a mad scientist places his brain inside an animatronic dinosaur, and Walker uses his new claws and teeth to get revenge and somehow convince his human girlfriend that he's a T-rex now. I smell a remake!

While undeniably tragic, it's fitting that Paul Walker lost his life in a car accident. It wasn't just his career that was defined by the adrenaline-soaked automotive orgies of the Fast & Furious series; his whole life hummed with a love of cars. A friend of mine, during a junket for Fast & Furious 6 this year, found him to be distant and unresponsive until she asked him a question about cars, at which point he all but grabbed her by the hand and giddily dug around inside an engine for her. Indie Roundup is your (striving to be) weekly guide to what's new and upcoming in the world of independent film.
Opening This Week: As we (by which I mean me) try to settle back into a good weekly routine, let's start with what's opening in limited release. Against the intelligent thrills of Christopher Nolan's Inception, which is likely to draw a fair portion of indie-oriented audiences, we see only a few contenders. Our friends at indieWIRE list the drama Kisses on their release calendar. Described as an Irish "romantic coming-of-age film," Kisses was originally slated for release late last year through Oscilloscope. Written and directed by Lance Daly, the film is centered around two kids who run away from home and spend Christmas night together on the streets of Dublin. It will be available via cable on demand systems at the same time it opens in New York and...
