Because a real RocknRolla wants the fucking lot. Hell Ride (2008) Movie Review

5 October 2008 8:00 PM, PDT | From MoviesOnline.ca | See recent MoviesOnline news

Hell Ride has gotten alot of negative reviews so when I got an early screener copy I was concerned. Very concerned. Quentin Tarantino has used his name to sell us Alot of shitty movies lately so having his name on this movie was actually a bad thing. Tarantino's name is no longer a symbol of awesomness for me that it once was. That all said Hell Ride was one hell of a ride. It is a fantastic film that is without question a throw back to spagheti westerns with a taste of Easy Rider and a splash of Pulp Fiction. Although not directed by Quentin Tarantino this is Exactly the kind of movie that we...

Davis Predicted How Arquette's Love Life Would Turn Out

1 October 2008 9:01 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Bette Davis' prediction that actress Rosanna Arquette would be unlucky in love if she enjoyed career success has been proven correct - 30 years after the prophecy, the star is a triple divorcee.

Veteran entertainer Davis gave the Pulp Fiction star some words of advice back in 1978, when Arquette was just 19 years old.

And after three failed marriages, she is ready to concede that Davis was correct.

Arquette tells the New York Post, "She told me that you can't have both a love life and a career in pictures at the same time, and it has proven to be true - she was right."

The actress, now 49, wed first husband Anthony Greco in July 1979, but divorced the following year. She then married James Newton Howard but split from him in 1987 after one year together. Her third marriage to John Sidel also ended in divorce - they parted ways after six years and have one child, 14 year old Zoe.

Weinstein "disappointed" with De Niro leak

26 September 2008 11:56 AM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has claimed that a leaked voice recording of him criticising Robert De Niro was "taken out of context". Weinstein, the co-founder of Miramax and The Weinstein Company, is heard discussing De Niro's role in Jackie Brown with director Quentin Tarantino in a tape obtained by the New York Post. "He thinks he's going to... make John Travolta look like that was an amateur night in Dixie," said Weinstein, referring to Travolta's Pulp Fiction comeback. Weinstein Downplays Leaked De Niro Tape

26 September 2008 5:05 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Harvey Weinstein has denied criticising Robert De Niro on the set of 1997 movie Jackie Brown - insisting a leaked audio tape of his conversation with director Quentin Tarantino has been "taken out of context".

New York gossip column PageSix has obtained an audio tape of Weinstein purportedly complaining about the actor to Tarantino.

De Niro - who played ex-con Louis Gara in the movie - apparently believed he should have been paid more for his role in the film.

In the tape, Weinstein says, "He thinks he's going to... make John Travolta look like that was an amateur night in Dixie," referring to Travolta's big screen comeback in Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.

He adds, "This is a great actor and actually a great guy, who's going through a difficult time... I think he's really having like a scratching-his-head session, you know, with his own life and his own career.

"I think he knows he can play a certain kind of role from now for the next 20 years. But I think he wants to change the course of his career."

But Weinstein's lawyer, David Boies, says the content of the tape has been taken out of context.

He tells the publication, "We are disappointed that any member of the press is trafficking in illegal tape recordings and compounding the damage by taking them out of context."

Meanwhile, De Niro's spokesman says, "Unless you were privy to actual conversations... I would draw an analogy to the blind man who picks up the tail of an elephant and exclaims, 'This animal must be quite slender and very wiry'."

This is the dawning of the Age of Credulity

25 September 2008 5:04 PM, PDT | From blogs.suntimes.com/ebert | See recent Roger Ebert's Blog news

Some days ago I posted an article headlined, Creationism: Your questions answered." It was a Q&A that accurately reflected Creationist beliefs. It inspired a firestorm on the web, with hundreds, even thousands of comments on blogs devoted to evolution and science. More than 600 comments on the delightful FARK.com alone. Many of the comments I've seen believe I have converted to Creationism. Others conclude I have lost my mind because of age and illness. There is a widespread conviction that the site was hacked. Lane Brown's blog for <New York magazine flatly states I gave "two thumbs down to evolution." On every one of the blogs, there are a few perceptive comments gently suggesting the article might have been satirical. So far I have not seen a single message, negative or positive, from anyone identifying as a Creationist.

M. Night Ponders ‘Unbreakable’ Sequel

24 September 2008 3:01 AM, PDT | From MovieBlog.Ugo.com | See recent Ugo MovieBlog news

M. Night Shyamalan.  With the exception of the Wachowski’s, no other director in recent memory has gone from the top of the heap to the top of the hate as fast as the thirty-eight year old multi-hyphenate.  While June’s already-forgotten-about The Happening did not help his case, Shyamalan’s adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, due in 2010, should help him bounce back a bit from his last two efforts.  Love him or hate him, the man is one of the few unique visionaries left in a business of interchangeable hired-hand filmmakers.  In my opinion, the mind that gave us The Sixth Sense and the better, underrated Unbreakable should never be entirely discredited.  And now, speaking of Unbreakable, Shyamalan offers MTV some thoughts on the never-realized follow-up to the 2000 film. “I tell you I get asked about it all the time, so it’s not [an idea] I ever forget,” Shyamalan told MTV News.

Fearless Forecast - Sam Jackson Wears the Kangol Hat of Victory

18 September 2008 9:32 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Nobody's movies have made more money than Samuel L. Jackson's. He's starred in just about 70 movies and they've grossed $7.42 billion in the U.S. alone. That's an average of $106 million per movie. Now, Jackson is not the primary reason people see some of those movies, like the most recent Star Wars trilogy, which accounts for a healthy chunk of that total, but the fact is he's made a ridiculous amount of movies since Pulp Fiction - one has been released every 90 days or so since 1994 - so obviously, his total is going to be way up there.

Jackson will add to his stack of money this weekend with a likely number one finish at the box office. Lakeview Terrace is a new domestic drama co-starring Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington. Releasing Lakeview this weekend is just plain smart by Sony Screen Gems. Not only does it have a chance

Final Weekend Tracking: Perry's 'Preys' Headed for $18M, Likely Outpacing 'Righteous Kill'; 'Burn After Reading' May Be the All-Time Biggest Coen Brothers Opening; 'The Women' Targets $7.3M!

10 September 2008 10:29 PM, PDT | From fantasymoguls.com | See recent Fantasy Moguls news

Word around Hollywood is that tracking is unspectacular for Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys (Lionsgate) and the Al Pacino/Robert DeNiro pairing in Righteous Kill (Overture). Coming off of the worst weekend at the box office since September 2003, the movie business could use a needle of adrenaline to the heart (a la Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction) and, although business will improve, there is probably no stealth blockbuster in the cards here. I have learned not to underestimate Tyler Perry, and I am putting my money on The Family That Preys to win the weekend. Although he is by no means a critical favorite and, like past films, Family has not screened for critics, Perry has a solid following. And he is continuing to make movies that feed his fan base while simultaneously working to broaden his appeal.

Parental Advisory: Top Ten F-Bomb Movie Moments

Top Ten Movie F-Bomb Moments This should go without saying based on the headline, but as a bit of fair warning this article is not safe for work as every video clip contains foul language inappropriate for your workplace and most likely inappropriate for your children unless you are one of those parents that doesn't pay attention to your children or care for them because in that case I am going to assume it is your 7-year-old that is reading this and not you. You've been warned. Okay, I'm going to be honest with you. This was a really hard list to put together. How do I distinguish between best F-bomb one-liners and best F-bomb scenes and best F-bomb movies? I could make a top ten list of best F-Bomb movies (movies filled to the brim with great uses of the word, "f**k") and films like Casino and Goodfellas

Knife Scene Cut From Jackson Film

1 September 2008 3:23 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

A knife-wielding scene from Samuel L. Jackson and Kerry Washington's new movie has been cut - because the star appeared to "lose it" on camera.

Jackson plays a cop who disapproves of the mixed-race couple which moves in next door to him, and goes to great lengths to let them know how he feels.

In one scene, Washington's character pretends to seduce the Pulp Fiction star's character - and then threatens him with a knife.

Washington says, "It got removed. Samuel L. Jackson follows me back into my house and I seduce him to the point where he is drawn in and then I threaten his life with a knife.

"The producers felt like, at that point in the film, my character was the only sane one and they needed her to stay sane in the mix. She was losing it.

"But it was fun to shoot, to hold a knife up to Sam."

Quentin Tarantino's 'Bastards' Gets First Female Cast in Diane Kruger

The Helen of Troy in the epic movie "Troy", Helen Kruger, has become the first female actor joining the varied cast ensemble of "Inglorious Bastards". For the World War II action drama, the 32-year-old has been tapped to tackle the prominent role of German actress Bridget Von Hammersmark.

Revealing the fact at the 2008 Venice International Film Festival, she gushed, "I just received a call from Quentin Tarantino, asking me to be in his next movie. I don't want to give too much away, but I'll play a German movie star." The role of Hammersmark has earlier been linked to other German actress Nastassja Kinski.

Beside Kruger, another actor recently signed for the project is German television actor Christoph Waltz. He will be filling the shoes of the primary villain, Colonel Hans Landa. His character was previously rumored to be given to Hollywood big name Leonardo DiCaprio, but later director Quentin Tarantino

Mac Missed Out On His Greatest Film Role

25 August 2008 6:56 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Funnyman Bernie Mac missed out on seeing the movie that friends feel sure will cement his reputation as a bona fide film star - because he fell ill before a finished print was complete.

Soul Men co-star Samuel L. Jackson insists the late comedian would have been proud of his final film - because he was great in it.

The Pulp Fiction star, who recently attended Mac's funeral in Chicago, Illinois says, "He's awesome in the film. I saw it a week before he passed. I was talking to his manager, who said he never got a chance to see it.

"That's a tragedy because it's one of the best things he's ever done. It's the Bernie we know and it's the Bernie we love."

Jackson warns Mac fans that the funnyman looks a little ill in the movie: "Bernie was thinner because he'd been sick off and on for a while, so he wasn't that (American) football-looking guy that I used to know."

Mac died on 9 August after losing his battle with pneumonia.

I have a confession to make. I used to be a rabid fangirl of Quentin Tarantino -- so much so that I went all sorts of nuts when introduced to my first college poster sale. My poor roommate ... she had to deal with one half of a room adorned with posters of John Travolta, Tim Roth, Samuel L. Jackson, and more. My guns and bad guys were balanced by her posters of funky black and white photos and art prints.

It wasn't that I was a huge fan of ultra-violent films; I just couldn't get enough of a film laden with insanely catchy conversations and even catchier music. I especially loved Pumpkin, and Honey Bunny. So, in honor of bad girls and guys who love each other while wreaking havoc on the world, I give you two Tarantino flicks
