  • Continuity: Stanley's tie suddenly flips over his left shoulder during the bank account opening scene.

  • Continuity: Disappearing toilet roll in the prison cell.

  • Continuity: Windows visible in the car after supposedly being blown out.

  • Revealing mistakes: Just before the car windows are blown out by the "Squeeze me gently" horn, you can clearly see a dummy in the car.

  • Continuity: Dr. Newman's pen.

  • Continuity: The toilet paper that Stanley lines the toilet seat with disappears.

  • Continuity: In the club, Dorian lowers his gun twice.

  • Continuity: During a chase sequence, Tina's bright red lipstick disappears between shots.

  • Continuity: When Dorian uses his cigarette to burn Niko's eyes in a photo, the close-up shows his hand holding the photo by a different edge than in the medium shot.

  • Continuity: Stanley's suit jacket disappears in prison as he goes to the window to see the dog.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: The detective says that the bank was robbed by a guy in a green mask, but the surveillance tape is black and white. He could have connected this crime to the events of the previous night, where there were eyewitnesses.

  • Continuity: The "loaner" car Stanley picks up at the mechanics is a 1951 Studebaker Champion. However, the car that falls apart on the bridge is a 1950 Studebaker Commander.

  • Continuity: Peggy Brandt tells the police officer at Ripley Auto Finishing that she is a reporter from the Evening Star. Later, when introducing herself to Stanley, she says she works for the Tribune (although she could be freelance, or it could be a "journalists tell lies" joke).

  • Continuity: Near the end of the movie, Milo jumps up and catches the mask by one corner of the chin. When he lands from that jump, he's holding it by the center of the forehead.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Tina is singing "Ain't I Good For You" in the club, near the end, her voice says "honey" but her mouth says "baby".

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Stanley is dancing with the parking meter (when he's sticking his butt in the air) his mouth doesn't match with the words being sung.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Dorian has the mask and attacks Niko's casino, he tells his men to hold fire. Then he tells Niko to shoot him. When Niko shoots, the gunshot's sound an the gun's flash don't match.

  • Revealing mistakes: At the beginning of the "Cuban Pete" performance, the tops of Stanley's black knee pads are visible in some shots.

  • Continuity: In the final shootout in Niko's club, Dorian's bad guys are shooting at Ipkiss (The Mask) as he hides behind the bar. As they finish shooting the center guy removes and drops his gun's clip. When Ipkiss jumps up and sits on the bar the center guy removes the same clip again before inserting a new one.

  • Revealing mistakes: Obvious double when Tina is dancing with Stanley.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Dorian is being "flushed" in the fountain, his screaming doesn't match up with the movements of his mouth.

  • Revealing mistakes: In the final club scene when Dorian is jumping into the pool, Stanley is seen painting a "flush" handle. After he flushes it, he can been seen closing a door where the flush handle was.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Stanley recognizes Peggy, he refers to her as the writer of a column entitled "Ask Peggy." Seconds later, she refers to it as "Dear Peggy."

  • Continuity: When Milo the dog is holding the mask and a guy is pulling his back legs, the floor beneath them is a blue and white pattern, when the mask is attaching to Milo's face the blue disappears and the floor is all white.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Milo the dog has the mask and a guy with long blonde hair is pulling his back legs, in two brief shots it's another guy with short black hair.

  • Continuity: The time bomb counting down at the end isn't keeping accurate time. At first, it shows 1:41. About 2 minutes later, it reads 0:06. It explodes inside The Mask's belly 12 seconds later.

  • Continuity: When Stanley wakes up to Lt Kellaway banging on his door the mask is in his hand and laying half on the corner of the red pillow, half on the green bed sheet. But in the close up he's in a slightly different position and the mask is now in the middle of the red pillow and you can't see his hand at all; then it swaps back again.

  • Continuity: When Stanley repeatedly punches Dorion in the face his tie is very loose, in scenes after its tightness keeps changing even within the same fight when he hasn't any time to adjust it.

  • Continuity: In the beginning of the "Cuban Pete" dance number, there is a brief shot where Carrey has managed to pull out part of his shirt. By the next shot, however, the shirt is instantly tucked back in.

  • Continuity: When Stanley comes home after being in the river, wet up to his belt, he enters his apartment and sits on the couch, and his trousers are dry and clean.

  • Revealing mistakes: When The Mask jumps through the apartment building window, the window's glass surrounds him as he is falling, yet no glass lands around him.

  • Continuity: At the beginning, when the diver discovers the chest, there are at least two dozen rocks on top of it. When he swims over to it, about a dozen rocks are on top of it.

  • Continuity: When the police are searching The Mask in the park, there's a shot of a number of things on the ground that they have already found. We see at least five or six items there that the two cops later list as they pull out of his pockets: a fish, a mousetrap, a bike horn, a squeeze toy, and a rubber chicken.

  • Revealing mistakes: In the scene when Stanley talks to Milo from the jail-cell window, you can see closely when he lets go of the bars they bend and flex a little.

  • Crew or equipment visible: After Stanley throws the mask out the window of his apartment the device used to throw the mask back into the apartment is clearly visible moving upwards towards the top of the window frame as the mask flies back through the window.

  • Revealing mistakes: Sometimes a pink extension can be seen from the back of Jim Carrey's head when he's The Mask, no doubt to cover his hair.

  • Revealing mistakes: At the first of the movie when the diver is trying to break the chain on the chest containing the mask, the pipe that falls from above makes a clanging sound as if it were metal but it is in fact PVC pipe. It appears to be painted black (PVC water pipe is usually white). The ridge on the bell end of the pipe has a rubber gasket in it so the pipe will seal when connected to another piece of pipe.

  • Revealing mistakes: 'Ripley Auto Finishing' only has one 'F' in it, so how did The Mask make the words 'Rip Off' out of it?
