While Earhart and Noonan are over Africa, the left engines starts to backfire severely, so Earhart makes an emergency landing. In the next scene, the plane is shown taking off without any problems. Not explained are what caused the backfiring, where the landing was made, who fixed the engine, and what kind of repair was done.
During one of the Electra's nighttime overseas stops, Earhart and Noonan are having coffee over a small fire. Then it starts to rain heavily, so they take shelter under the plane's wing. However, the fire continues to burn.
During the takeoff from Lae, New Guinea, the Electra barely makes it off the runway in time due to its heavy fuel load. Yet right after takeoff, Earhart puts the plane into a near-vertical climb and a sharp turn. In reality, either maneuver would have immediately stalled the aircraft due to its heavy weight, and a crash would have resulted.
At the picnic, they use a squeeze bottle for mustard.
When Amelia's plane takes off from Miami at the start of her flight around the world, mountains can be seen in the background. There are no mountains in southern Florida.
