Gadar 2 is a period-action-drama directed by Anil Sharma. A sequel to the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. With Gadar 2, the Katha (story) continues and picks up from where it left. Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), Sakeena, Tara Singh’s wife (Ameesha Patel) and Charan Jeet Singh aka Jeete, Tara and Sakeena’s son (Utkarsh Sharma), the three key characters and actors reprise their roles from the first part.
What also continues is the nostalgic song and dance sequences from the first part recreated and revisited to retain the texture and feel of the film. To be fair to the new generation, if you have seen this Gadar 2, then you have very well missed almost nothing if you hadn’t seen Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. As for all those from the Gadar generation, enjoy the nostalgia and reminisce shots and sequences from the 2001 blockbuster.

San Francisco, Aug 8 (Ians) Popular instant messaging app Snapchat is now allowing users to enable dark mode without a Snapchat+ subscription, on Android.
On Tuesday, Android expert Mishaal Rahman shared the information on X.
“Users are reporting that they can now enable dark mode in Snapchat without a Snapchat+ subscription!,” he said.
“I thought it was dumb for Snapchat to lock dark mode behind a paywall, so I’m glad to see they’ve changed their minds!”
In a separate post, Rahman mentioned that the dark mode’s support page still mentions that only paid subscribers can access the mode on Android.
“Support page still says you need Snapchat+ to gain ‘early access to Dark Mode’ on Android, but that doesn’t seem to be true anymore,” he wrote.
Last week, Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, had introduced a ‘Lens Creator Rewards’ programme for Snap Ar creators in India.

Josef Hader, the writer, director and lead actor of new Austrian comedy Wild Mouse, definitely has comedic pedigree. He's won best actor awards at Locarno Film Festival and written and starred in adaptations of his acclaimed play Indien back in 1993. These are achievements which have lead him to become a leading comedian in Germany, and no doubt prompted the inclusion of his directorial debut's in this year's Berlinale's main competition. But this trio of roles may have been one step too far. It's not that Wild Mouse is terrible. Far from it. A number of people seemed to be enjoying it, and if you enjoyed Hader's previous work, then Wild Mouse may well be for you. It's just that the film is not that...

Yesterday the Academy finally released the full list of 2012 Foreign Language Oscar contenders adding four films I did not have on my previous list from the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, United Kingdom and a mysterious title I can't find anything about from Kazakhstan and now that the short list has been announced and everyone has posted the Academy's press release it's like searching for a needle in a haystack if you go looking for more information on it. That said, if anyone has a link to any information on Egor Mikhalkov-Konchalovsky's Returning to the 'A' I would love to share it as I have links and information for all other 62 films submitted for consideration. As I said in my last post addressing the category, I haven't seen any of these films, a rarity for me, but based on buzz the top contenders would seem to include Zhang Yimou's The War of Flowers,...

We gave you an update a few weeks ago, but The Academy now has its final list of the 63 films competing for Best Foreign Film Oscar. This list will get cut down as films screen and the committee decides on a final five when the nominations get announced late January. The notable films include Iran’s A Separation, which we adored and China’s massive budget The Flowers of War starring Christian Bale (which isn’t even complete to my knowledge).
Mexico’s Miss Bala (read our Cannes and Vancouver reviews) and Finland’s Le Havre (our Cannes and Toronto reviews) are also contenders. Lebanon’s Where Do We Go Now? is also in the mix, a drama that won the top prize at Toronto. There are many others we’ve seen at festivals, so follow that coverage here as we head into Oscar season. Check out the press release below.

Update: The total is now 60 films as Steve Pond at The Wrap informs us the Domenican Republic's submission La hija natural has been accepted. He also says we should expect four or five more films to be added to the list by the time things are said and done. My original post follows...
The deadline for countries to submit films for consideration at this year's Oscars was Monday, October 3 and this year's list is a little lighter than last (so far) as 60 countries have offered up submissions compared to 66 last year and 67 the year before that. Looking over the complete list, which I have included directly below and can always be viewed in my "The Contenders" section right here, there are a few that stand out based on what I've heard, but then again, this is the first year I can ever remember where I haven't seen a single one of the entries.

We are looking for upwards of 65 total submissions for Oscar's list of Foreign Language contenders and we are inching closer as I have just added 18 more titles to the list bringing the total up to 40. Today I added submissions from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Israel, Peru, Slovakia, South Africa and Vietnam along with China's submission of Zhang Yimou's The Flowers of War starring Christian Bale.
Yimou, as I'm sure most of you know, is best known for helming House of Flying Daggers and Hero and with Flowers of War he's working from an adaptation of Geling Yan's novel "13 Flowers of Nanjing," centering on the Nanjing Massacre, when Japanese troops killed thousands of Chinese citizens in what was then the nation's capital in 1937. Bale plays John Haufman, an American trapped amidst the chaos of battle and the ensuing occupation takes shelter,...

Dominique Abel, Fiona Gordon and Bruno Romy's La Fee (The Fairy) will open this year's Directors' Fortnight on May 12 and Bouli Lanners's Les Géants (The Giants) will close it on May 22. Here's how the full lineup of 25 films pans out.
The Fairy. From MK2: "Dom works the night shift in a small hotel near the industrial sea port of Le Havre. One night, a woman arrives with no luggage and no shoes. Her name is Fiona. She tells Dom she is a fairy and grants him three wishes. Fiona makes two wishes come true, then mysteriously disappears. Dom, who by then has fallen in love with Fiona searches for her everywhere and eventually finds her. In the psychiatric hospital where she has been interned. The filmmakers behind the critically acclaimed Iceberg and Rumba are back to enchant the world."
Karim Ainouz's O abismo prateado.
Urszula Antoniak's Code Blue.

The final Cannes sidebar of new feature films to unveil its lineup, the Directors' Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs), announced 25 features this morning - 21 competing, and 4 special screenings. This year's edition is especially heavy on European films, which take up a whopping 17 of the 21 competing slots. Just like the Critic's Week selection, we've got a majority of debut films and films by little known directors, but also a handful of names that most cinephiles will already be familiar with. This is, of course, part of the pleasure of discovery in these sections: the ability to be taken completely by surprise (ie. last year's Two Gates of Sleep and Le Quattro Volte) that you don't get with finding a masterpiece in the Competition. The Fortnight runs parallel with the Official Competition, opening on May 12th and ending on the 21st. Looking at the lineup, there are a number of names that we saw coming,...

The lineup for the Cannes film festival has been finalized with the announcement of the Directors’ Fortnight lineup, which includes Guilty of Romance by one of my personal favourite directors, Sion Sono. The Directors’ Fortnight is an independent section held in parallel to the Cannes Film Festival. The section was created in 1969 after the events of May 1968, in which the Cannes festival was canceled in solidarity with striking workers.
The Directors’ Fortnight showcases a programme of shorts and feature films as well as documentaries from all over the world.
Here’s the complete list of titles:
