The Waves of Disdain Continue To Hit 'Jersey Shore'…

After the onslaught of news reports and news feeds about "Jersey Shore", MTV's most controversial show since Beavis and Butthead, I decided to see if the show was as terrible as many people are making it out to be.
My brain lasted ten seconds. My disdain might last a lifetime.
The show, which is pretty much The Real World with Italians, puts eight housemates together on the Jersey Shore, where they are do odd jobs, such as selling t-shirts while partying up a storm. The housemates pride themselves on their Italian heritage, but they do so by constantly repeating a word that I refuse to repeat here out of respect to those who find it offensive. I found it offensive and I'm not even Italian!
[Clarissa: I'm Italian, so I'll say it. At no point have I ever heard an Italian male in Canada refer to themselves as a "Guido". "Gino" yes, but never "Guido". So unless this is some stupid new word that these guys are making up, then I have no idea what the heck they're talking about. I also have several male cousins in the age range of the people on this show. If they ever behaved like this - nevermind on national television - my grandmother herself would beat them silly. So let's please not take them as a representation of Italian culture].
They also love to show off their bodies and tans and hair product…and this is from the guys. When one guy says that girls

Blu-ray Review: Public Enemies

I ended my theatrical review of Public Enemies with the following line:
I am leaving room for this one to grow on me or slowly settle down to the middle, but one thing's for certain, it had my wheels spinning and may likely end up an all-time classic of mine a few years down the line.
This is the approach I try to take to all films whether I like them out of the box or not, but this one in particular felt like a film that was either going to slowly attach itself or just die away quietly. My expectations, as with other Mann films such as Heat and Thief (unfortunately not Miami Vice), were that this one would improve upon repeated viewings and after watching Universal's Blu-ray release it does just that. As a matter of fact I no longer have any doubts as to this film's quality

David Koepp to Direct Bike Messenger Action Film Premium Rush

David Koepp is best known as one of Hollywood's highest paid screenwriters (and one of Spielberg's scribes). His screenwriting credits include everything from Toy Soldiers, Jurassic Park, and Carlito's Way, to Panic Room, Spider-Man, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
For the last decade he's been trying to make the transition into feature film directing. He made his debut with the promising Stir of Echoes, but has since followed up with some lackluster efforts, the 2004 Stephen King adaptation Secret Window and the 2008 Ricky Gervais supernatural romantic comedy Ghost Town. Honestly, I think Koepp is a much better screenwriter than he is a filmmaker, and that's not saying much considering the abundance of lackluster screenplays he's been involved with in the last 10-12 years. With that kind of intro, you must be really interested in his next directorial effort (yes, that was

Al Pacino Would Have Sex With You…If You Gave Him A Place To Live.

According to our friends over at WENN.com [1], when Al Pacino was a struggling actor in his youth back in Sicily, the future Carlito's Way star traded sex for room and board. Hoo-ah!
Back in 1960, he went home to his native land after dropping out of school to pursue his dream of acting. A gossip column in the New York Post said he decided to sell his body to keep a roof over his head.
Al Pacino said "At 20, I lived in Sicily by selling the only asset I had - my body. An older woman traded food and housing in return for sex. I woke mornings not really loving myself."
Fantastic. What celebrity would you shelter in return for sex? This could be a new weekly poll. Let's keep it clean though, folks.

The 2009 Hottest MCs in the Game rollout is on! As in 2007
and 2008,
the list, determined by the MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust, is based on an Mc's achievements right now, rather than an entire career. The criteria is based on a combination of rhyme skill, flow and how those things are implemented musically as the main factors. The Brain Trust also considers buzz, impact, commercial success — sales, airplay, business ventures, Web presence, endorsements and helping to spawn other artists' careers — and the intangible, impact: Can an artist not only contribute to the rap game but influence cultural shifts? Are they trendsetters? All of these factors — and the results of our audience poll, which closed last week and gets a vote at the Roundtable during the Brain Trust's debate — contribute to deciding
