Steven Seagal has been a cop for 20 years?!?

10 September 2009 11:29 AM, PDT | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

The world has officially been turned upside down for me.

Apparently when he's not making bad-ass movies like Under Siege, Exit Wounds, or my personal favorite, Today You Die, Steven Seagal is a Deputy Sheriff in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana and he's been doing it for 20 years.

Can it get better? Yes. Starting in December, A&E is sending cameras along with him.

Action movie star Steven Seagal's new reality television series has hit a legal snag in a dispute over the origination of the idea.

In a federal lawsuit filed on Monday, A&E Television Networks has sued California-based Genuine over the production company's claim that A&E stole the concept for the show after both parties had several meetings.

Stacie Ponder - Spielberg Under Siege? Mega-Shark Takes a Bite out of Jaws

4 August 2009 9:00 PM, PDT | amctv.com - Horror Hacker: Stacie Ponder | See recent amctv.com - Horror Hacker: Stacie Ponder news »

Steven Spielberg's Jaws (1975) is widely considered not only one of the great horror movies of all time, but one of the best motion pictures ever, period. The direct-to-dvd Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (2009) is not. But both feature super sharks making with the homicidal chomp chomp, so clearly I have only one course of action available to me, and that's to pit the sea beasts against each »

Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal rumored for Rodriguez’s ‘Machete’

Steven Seagal & Lindsay Lohan

Anytime I see a bit of news regarding Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming feature, Machete, I need to change my pants. Especially if Lindsay Lohan and Steven Seagal are involved.

Well, maybe just Lohan.

Rodriguez is sending the script to just about everybody that has a pulse, boobs and used to be a big action star yet those who have actually signed onto the production have been scarce.

“We’ve cast nobody but Danny [Trejo] and Michelle Rodriguez, but we’ve sent the script out to a lot of people,” Rodriguez recently told MTV. “There are a lot of people we’re sending it to, big names – but nobody that we’ve signed yet.”

Early last week, I reported that Jonah Hill and Robert De Niro were reviewing the script but nothing has been confirmed…yet. Now we’ve learned that the man behind Sin City and From Dusk Till Dawn »

Stone Cold, Brian Bosworth and the Lost Art of the Action Movie

23 July 2009 12:21 PM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

A security camera reveals the interior of an empty supermarket. The grainy black and white image is shattered when a grizzly figure wearing a cut off muscle T and a greasy ponytail smashes the lens with the butt of a gun. Four thugs are robbing the supermarket with automatic weapons and they’re taking the cashiers hostage. In all the commotion, the automatic door opens. A pan up reveals leather boots, stonewashed jeans, a tank top, a leather trench coat and then, the mullet. You’ve seen this NFL-sized mullet get drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 1987. You’ve seen this mullet being dragged into the end zone by Bo Jackson. The bleached blonde mullet belongs to classic NFL bust Brian Bosworth. While the Boz couldn’t get it done on the field, in 1991, he made short work of the supermarket thieves, a gang of bikers, and Lance Hendriksen in his action movie debut, »

Seagal Scraps Stallone Film Over Producer

Action man Steven Seagal has turned down the chance to team up with pal Sylvester Stallone, Mickey Rourke and Dolph Lundgren in new film The Expendables over a reported dispute with one of the movie's producers.

The Under Siege star has worked with producer Avi Lerner on a handful of films, but insiders report the pair has fallen out.

A source tells movie new website Moviehole.net, "There’s too much bad blood between them."

But the all-star action film is close to adding another big Hollywood name - reports suggest Bruce Willis is in negotiations to join Stallone and his pals in the movie. »

The Horror of Breeding Jean-Claude Van Damme

27 May 2009 2:40 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Over a decade ago there was talk of a movie that would have cast Jean-Claude Van Damme as a park ranger forced into a life or death struggle against Bigfoot. Sadly, that film never came about and we were forever denied the sight of the "Muscles from Brussels" kickboxing Sasquatch. On the plus side, it looks like Van Damme is finally set to enter the world of horrordom with a new fright flick called The Breed. Exactly what he'll be kickboxing remains to be seen.

Arrow in the Head reports that at this year's Cannes Film Festival, Van Damme, who may be on the verge of a career resurgence following the surprisingly well received Jcvd, had the following to say about two upcoming projects.

"This summer I will make a new movie with a famous director called Weapon. After that I will make a horror movie called The Breed. It's a great story, »

Chace Under Siege by Fawning Footloose Fans

We have to apologize to Chace Crawford. Ever since we broke the news that the Gossip Girl star is gunning to replace Zac Efron in the Footloose remake, the poor guy has been hounded more than ever on the streets of New York City by teenybopper fans. That's usually no big whoop, except... The fans have now been trying to get his attention by serenading him. "They had to beef up security because more girls have been showing up to set every day singing 'Footloose' to him," a source reports. "He couldn't take it anymore, so he's leaving town tomorrow." I'm told Mr. Crawford may be heading to his native Texas for a little rest and relaxation before going... »

Seagal Pledges Help To Costa Rica

12 February 2009 4:05 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actor Steven Seagal has vowed to help officials in Costa Rica boost the country's movie industry.

The Under Siege star met with Costa Rican President Oscar Arias on Wednesday to discuss ways to encourage more American filmmakers to work in the Central American country.

Seagal is adamant that the region's dramatic landscapes make perfect movie backdrops and would be a cheaper alternative for directors on tight budgets.

And the star has promised to use his Hollywood expertise to help bring more film projects to the area.

He says, "Costa Rica has everything - both rain forest and dry climate. What it lacks is an infrastructure to make movies."

Gerard Depardieu's 1992 movie 1492: Conquest of Paradise was shot in the country, while Mel Gibson also considered filming his 2006 epic Apocalypto there, but instead took the shoot to Mexico. »

SAG: No Good Reason to Strike

1 January 2009 7:08 PM, PST | Digital Media Law | See recent Digital Media Law news »

There’s turmoil planned for the upcoming Jan. 12-13 SAG National Board meeting, reports the La Times. SAG’s National Executive Director Doug Allen and the current negotiating committee may find themselves bounced out unceremoniously by the moderates—or they may not. The strike authorization vote, postponed from its original Jan. 2 mailing date, may get canceled altogether—or it might not.

In light of this uncertainty, it’s still critical to ask whether a strike authorization and possible strike make sense. SAG’s hardline leaders and their supporters have made a lot of statements in support of both an authorization and a strike itself. Do their statements stand up to scrutiny? I say no, but you be the judge. Here are SAG’s most oft-repeated arguments, and my analysis.
