  • Anachronisms: The display outside the fruit shop, where Paquita works, is partly stacked on green plastic apple crates. These were introduced in New Zealand in the mid 1970s - the film is set in 1957.

  • Anachronisms: The lawn mower in the movie was not available in New Zealand in 1957.

  • Continuity: When Paquita and Rita are pulling a man in from the window, blood appears and disappears around his mouth between shots.

  • Continuity: Lionel is mopping up bloody footprints when Paquita comes to visit. After they chase her dog upstairs and come back down, the entryway no longer has footprints.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the Thug Zombie has been torn in half and is crawling toward Lionel, you can see the shadow of the actor's body being dragged behind it.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the Thug Zombie has been torn in half and it is crawling toward Lionel, you can see the shadow of the actor's body being dragged behind it.

  • Continuity: When Lionel's mum gets bitten at the zoo, the color of her sleeve material changes from black/dark blue to light blue.

  • Continuity: When the top of the zombie's head slides toward Rita, the floor around it is clean. As soon as the shot changes, there's blood all around it, and then it changes again, when Paquita kicks it.

  • Continuity: When Paquita is trying to get Rita back on her feet, and the top of that zombie's head slides toward them, Paquita kicks it. It flips onto its side, but the next shot has it sliding right way up again.

  • Continuity: Just after the Kung-Fu Priest scene, and Lionel is feeding the zombies tranquilized porridge, Nurse McTevish swallows some and it pours out of her throat. After Lionel has put it into the nurses throat, the porridge has disappeared.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Lionel has just finished massacring the zombies, Thug Zombie appears at the top of the stairs. If you look closely you can see his real pair of legs near the window Lionel flew out of earlier.

  • Continuity: As Lionel is hanging from the ceiling and the zombie priest and nurse come toward each other, the pitchfork that Uncle Lez shoved into the priest impales the nurse and it is covered with blood. A split second later it is clean.

  • Revealing mistakes: As the three zombies go rabid at the house party, and McGruder and Thug tear the skin off a guy's face, the switch from actor to dummy is visible.

  • Revealing mistakes: When 3 of the zombies are high on Animal Stimulants and are going rabid at the house party, several girls have locked themselves in a room. A guy starts to crawl in with no flesh from his waist down. In one of the shots as they pull him in, you can see his real body as the skinless legs are kicking.

  • Revealing mistakes: Towards the end when the top half of the Zombie Thug is on the lawnmower blades, you can see the jets of "blood" being sprayed up at different angles.

  • Continuity: Despite being absolutely drenched with blood during the zombie massacre, Lionel's sweater and pants are completely dry in all the following scenes. His pants are amazingly clean, too.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the uncle goes after Paquita after having been torn apart by the mother, you can see the wire holding his head up.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the little baby zombie is getting chased at the end by the uncle, when you see the baby running through the house, it is so obvious that there is a person in a suit running because the baby is huge compared to what it look likes normally.

  • Continuity: When Lionel drags the baby out of the radio, it has no umbilical cord. In the next scene it hangs out of the baby, and it plays an important role when the baby is stopped by it.

  • Continuity: In the luncheon scene, the ear falls earring-side down into the custard, but a second later, the earring is up and clean.

  • Continuity: Before the luncheon scene, the Mathesons introduce themselves to Lionel as if for the first time. At the funeral, they display long-term familiarity ("Poor Lionel, he was always dreadfully attached to his mother.")

  • Continuity: When Uncle Les first enters the house, he practically gags on the smell, but later in the party scene, no-one notices any unpleasant odors, even though the bodies have yet to be buried.

  • Continuity: When Lionel recounts the tale of his father's drowning, framing his face are iron bars. At the end of the story when Paquita takes his hand, the bars are gone and he is instead leaning against a chain link fence.

  • Continuity: When Lionel's mother first changes into a zombie and is pursuing him, as he backs up, one of the porcelain wall ornaments falls off the wall. The ornament is later on the wall again, and Lionel grabs it.

  • Crew or equipment visible: On several short shots of the tramways, the carriages appear clearly as models pulled by strings.

  • Anachronisms: The first Crowley Thoth deck appeared in a monochrome edition published by the Simpson Printing Company of Dallas, Texas, in the early 1960s. Llewellyn, in conjunction with the Ordo Templi Orientis, published the first color version in 1969.
