Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this new feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes .
Visit our Parents Guide Help to learn more

Sex & Nudity

Some implied sexual tension between Batman & Catwoman. The Penguin makes some sexual references to Catwoman.

Violence & Gore

Many characters are shot with no blood.

Character is thrown to what we're lead to believe is her death.

Character falls to her death and lands atop the controls of a giant Christmas tree.

Character bites off another character's nose with bloody results.

While slowly dying, a character coughs up what appears to be very dark blood. He is then seen floating face down in water.

Character falls from a resolution building. (mild blood.)

Character is violently electrocuted and we see the grisly aftermath.

Characters dressed as clowns are shot with puck-like projectiles.

Character is set on fire.

Character has time bomb shoved down his pants. He then explodes off-screen.

Profanity

2 uses of s**t, 1 S.O.A.B., 1 bast*rd, and 1 B**** although used as "life's a *****"

Characters casually drink and smoke.

The only actor seen smoking is Paul Reubens (playing The Penguin's distraught father); unfortunately, he is shown smoking around his son's disturbing "playpen". There is also an odd scene in which a character offers The Penguin a cigarette and says, "Here. Claim your birthright." I am not sure what that means (does smoking somehow make the deformed Penguin more human?), but the Penguin was smart enough to spit out the cigarette. One other odd note: the movie poster shows The Penguin smoking, but the character is never seen smoking in the movie! Using a standardized scoring system, this film received a smoking rating of 3 Butts (on a scale of 0-4 Butts). For more information on the impact of onscreen smoking and the initition of youth tobacco use, or for more information on the rating system, visit www.smokescreeners.org.

The atmosphere and look of the film is designed to scare.

The Penguin appears to be quite frightening. He has numerous violent outbursts.

Character has her fingers knawed by cats.

We see a disfigured baby being kept in a cage. The baby then eats the family cat off-screen before being thrown into the sewer by his parents.

Subject matter is very dark and may disturb some younger viewers.
